I have hens and often come to Wes's Pets for their feed. The owners of this business are a nice young couple who has always been super helpful when I am here. When I wanted to change my chicken feed from lay mash to pellets, the lady owner gave me samples to try first before buying a big bag. They also have baby chicks and birds for sale. Old school family owned business. The owners are friendly, knowledgeable, and very helpful. A small farm shop with many different types of birds for sale. Possibly a goat or pig every now and then. Saddest place ever. The hens were all missing feathers, extremely skinny, roosters were sickly looking and one had black crust all over his face, quails were lethargic and sickly, and some chicks had pasty butts. Employee was not friendly at all and place covered in flies. Should be shut down. read more

I'm a chicken mommy! Went to purchase two baby chicks yesterday and the gentleman in charge couldn't have been any nicer. He was so informative and patient, knowledgeable and attentive. Made me feel capable and excited to take home a couple of the cutest little babies you ever saw!!! There were about 5-7 (?) different breeds available and he kindly took the time to explain which breed would produce specific colored eggs and how large they'll grow. They're only $7 each! How I left without buying 10 I'll never know...however if you don't want to care for them indoors for the next 3 weeks, they're $9 each and you pay when you pick them up. Also a brown bag of chick feed came FREE. Medical care is also FREE for your hens without expiration and they're guaranteed to lay eggs! Wes's also carries a variety of other full grown chickens and bunnies. I ran to Home Depot and purchased a wide shallow storage bin and a clamp light as instructed. I had an existing kennel which a was perfect to keep them in safe from my 2 dogs and curious kitty. Instead of buying a water dispenser, he uggested using a small dish filled with marbles to keep chicks from falling in and drowning. Minus the kennel, I only spent $23 for their set up. Great place if you're interested in raising some chickens. I wasn't ever intrigued but they're cute as a button and now I'm spending Easter with my real life peeps and reading up on how to build a chicken coop and caring instructions! read more

My family and I recently got a rabbit a week ago and we were provided free hay by the previous owners of the rabbit. We ran out recently, so we had to look for various feed stores because store-bought hay was too expensive and not as fresh as buying from local. We called many stores and we settled on this one because it was the closest and cheapest than the rest! When we called, they said it was $4 for a slice of a bale of hay. The person was super nice on the phone; they said they had only one more left and reserved it for us! Anyways, I wasn't sure how much hay was a "slice of bale" was, but we went anyways, got home and weighed it. It was 5 lbs of hay! Very cheap price for what you get! Super glad we found this store, looking forward to buy more from them :) read more

I was hunting for Timothy Hay for my rabbits. I have a place where I normally get it, but it's deep in the Valley, so I was looking for an option closer to home. I called ahead and was a little worried, as the guy on the phone told me that they had Timothy Hay, but only Small Bags. While I wasn't looking for a giant bale of hay, I was hoping for a big bag around like 8-10 lbs. In a pinch, I still thought it would make sense to see what they had. They offer what looks like a 10-gallon kitchen trash bag, filled with your choice of timothy hay of alfalfa hay for $4. While it's not as much hay as I was looking for, it's small enough that I can buy two bags and bet set for awhile...They focus here definitely seems to be on the chicks, their feed, etc. Great and friendly customer service in-store! read more

I can't say enough wonderful things about this place!! I purchased a Silkie chick and a roll of galvanized mesh for my coop. The gentleman in charge as well as the rest of the staff where so much help! I'm new to raising chickens and they supplied me with so much helpful information as well as a free bag of chick food! They really know their stuff! I left with a lot of helpful info that made me feel more confident about raising my new little buddy:) Their mesh is also way cheaper than at Home Depot. They have a wonderful variety of chickens to choose from ranging from the exotic to good ol' farm egg layers:) My silkie, Luna, is growing healthy and happy and is such a snuggle bird. I think she needs more silkie friends as well as food (they also sell very good quality food for every growth stage). I am coming back for more chicken friends, food and supplies. They are the best! I saw this shop on a Pasadena mom's Facebook group and thought I better check it out with my almost 3 year old... it was so cute! It's a tiny place, but is full of chickens, birds, baby ducks/geese, and crowing roosters. My babe was so happy! We then got 2 lbs ($2) of duck feed, and went to Whittier Narrows to feed a bunch of ducks and geese. We will definitely go back to this sweet little shop with very kind employees! read more

Cannot rave about this place more! The owner was beyond helpful he gave me so many great suggestions regarding my new ducklings. This place is affordable and has everything we need, it's a bit of a drive for me but honestly it's well worth it! I have gone to many pet stores in a period of time hunting for chicks and ducklings, many places do not have either. This store does, animals have plenty of room and food and water. Purchased my chick here, owner suggested a pair. Didn't no get one due to have other ducklings for it to be with. The chick was depressed, then went back to purchase another as Mario advised my two chicks are getting along well. We bought 5 chicks that were promised to be hens...unfortunately one turned out to be a rooster and started making noises. We called the store to ask if they could direct us to any farms or organization that they know that would take a rooster, assuming owning a pet store you'd have more leads than us. However, they told us to "look it up online". Apparently helping to re-home a rooster is not part of the service if a promised hen decided to change gender. read more
