SO so good! For fast food counter service, I am impressed! Zaira is the most wonderful, warm, and welcoming presence as soon as you walk in, such a sweetheart! She was so courteous not only to me but to all who entered. I ordered the Steak Kebob plate for $16 and it came with side Greek salad (or house salad or fattosh), rice, hummus, bread, and kebob, and it was ALL flavorful! I was starving and cranky when I stumbled in here and the young lady at the counter was a delight. She got my order in lickety split and prepared the kebobs just as I requested! A few rare, a few more burnt. The pita was fresh, the side of sumak and Taziki sauce delish! I would definitely come back if in the area. They only have 2 tables and no bathroom so though not a place to hang out for long. I also wouldn't recommend relying on the plastic silverware. Thankfully she had a real knife and fork for me to use while I was there. The surrounding neighborhood is also a bit dated and has a more residential feel so guessing this is more of a carryout place. I would suggest improving decor, interior, and exterior but food and service are impeccable!

This restaurant was excellent!! We were really hungry and getting ready for our long drive home last night. This restaurant had high reviews and was nearby so we decided to give it a try for a to go dinner order. The restaurant is near the university in a small strip mall with a front parking lot that is free to park, unlike other spots that we attempted to go to that charged for parking since they were near the university. It's a family-owned restaurant with very hard-working, friendly staff. Our order was made very quickly and when we got home and checked, the order was perfect. To top it off, the flavors of each dish were delicious. Everyone of us four enjoyed our dishes and we all taste-tested each other's. It's too bad that we live an hour away. We would be coming here all of the time. Will definitely visit again when we are in the area. We ordered: Dolmas (this side comes with eight small dolmas packed with flavor) Large hummus (very flavorful, good hummus) Tabouli as the side for Mansaf (nice and lemony and very fresh) Mansaf (a large lamb shank covered with an herb yogurt sauce, and sitting on a buttery bed of golden rice) Chicken Shawarma plate (enough food for hubs. Nice portion of buttery, golden rice and chicken.) Kafta kebab plate (my daughter said this is very good) Vegetarian platter (my daughter loved this. She said the falafel was delicious. I tried a bite and it was very good.) Yummmm! what satisfying weeknight dinner. Seating inside is a bit small. There are two small tables in front of the counter. This seems mostly like an order-to-go type of establishment.

If you like salty, tasteless food then you will love this place!!!! I saw all the great reviews and was excited to try this place. I ordered the chicken shawarma and my wife got Greek salad. The chicken was dry and very salty. The rice has no flavor. The hummus is chunky and not a great flavor. The salad was good enough. The falafel was moist and a nice size but salty. I am disappointed and do not recommend this place.

Craving a fresh, veggie friendly, and healthy-ish meal on our way to a picnic in the park, we stopped by Wessen for a takeout order. The shop is small and focuses mainly on takeout orders. If you do dine in currently there is only one table inside. The menu has a wide array of meaty and veggie forward dishes. I love trying a little of everything so I went with the vegetarian platter. It includes hummus, baba ganoush with kalamata olives, tabouli, falafel, dolmas and pita bread. Everything was securely packaged in Styrofoam and they included some to go utensils with napkins. I opened up my container and everything looked so pretty and appetizing. I dug into the falafel first. It had a very hard crunchy outer shell with well seasoned tender falafel/chickpea mixture inside. The dolmas were warm and tasted like they might have been left on the hot holding counter for a long time because they looked shriveled and tasted a bit dry on the outside but had very soft and almost mushy rice inside. The hummus was decent but the tabouli skewed too acidic for me. Out of the whole plate I enjoyed the baba ganoush the most since it had the perfect blend of seasoning and smokiness. The chopped Kalamata olives were a nice additional touch. The pita bread was served nice n warm in some foil. The total for the veggie plate was $12 which was a fair price for the amount of food I got. With a plethora of options for meals on their menu I know this is one place I'll have to try out again! Covid related info: - Staff do not wear masks - Very limited indoor seating

Wessen is now on our favorite restaurant list, because of one particular dish. We have now ordered to-go multiple times and tried a number of dishes on their menu. Here is a list of what we have tried at Wessen so far and our review of each. - Mansaf: the best dish on their menu in our opinion and the one we go to Wessen for. While the way it's cooked and served at Wessen is not the absolutely traditional way to make Mansaf, it is still delicious! - Kouzi: a good meat option with rice. The sauce on the side adds good flavor. - beef Kabsa: meat is tender but the spices used were not our favorite. - falafel plate: it is served with rice which is not a common way to serve it but the falafel itself has the right middle eastern falafel flavor. We had it as part of the vegetarian dish before and it was undercooked and I addressed that on the phone the next time I ordered so it was cooked a lot better then. Slightly dry but good. - Veggie platter: baba ghanouj is delicious, hummus is good. I didn't try the tabboule and the falafel is covered above. We did not enjoy the dolmas - they were dry and the stuffing was mushy and had a taste we did not like. - Moussaka: very good! We wish they had more veggies than meat though, especially since the eggplant is supposed to be the star of the dish. - bechamel pasta: a miss unfortunately. We didn't like it. I have tried many before in the Middle East and this was not the right flavor combination. - full tilapia fish for two - Friday special: not our favorite. The fish itself was over cooked and dry and the spice rub did not hit the mark. It came with a small sauce to top the fish with I believe but we didn't like it either. - baklava: ok but extremely sweet. - Kunafa: just ok. We wouldn't order it again. I think the flavor of the butter or ghee they used to make it is too overpowering and did not work well for us. Some additional details: mains are served with two free sides, hummus and salad as well as pita bread. If you want something else, there's an extra charge. If you want extra sauce for the mansaf, it's an extra charge. The Moussaka and Bechamel pasta are both sides. There are two sizes, big and small. The small is actually a good size. There's a falafel plate with rice and a falafel appetizer. I tried ordering over the phone mostly, and today, online. Prices on the online portal are higher than the menu, for example, Mansaf is $17 on the menu and $19 if ordering online, and this is not DoorDash or UberEats. This is their own ordering portal. I'm guessing the online option has the updated prices. I have never been to the restaurant, my husband has been picking up. We recommend Wessen for takeout. It is not a place to dine in (I believe they only have one table) but definitely an option for some good middle eastern food. There are many more dishes on the menu that we will attempt to try in the future but every time we will order, Mansaf will definitely be at least one of the dishes.

Gyro plate. Just ok. Lots of rice.

Delivery Order was for gyro plate, Greek salad with both Schwarma and gyro, and chicken curry. The chicken curry was missing from the order. Contacted Wesson about this experience and no response, so left no choice but to write this review, The order was scheduled for 6pm and Grubhub said would be delivered between 6pm and 6:20pm. Well it showed up somehow 15 min before 6pm (no text or knock), so by the time I checked the front door the food was cold. The gyro plate was just ok. Way more rice than hummus or salad, would have liked that reversed. Only one pita. The salad tasted good but meats were cold. Overall, a very disappointing first experience with Wesson and GrubHub. Hopefully will get a chance to dine in soon for a fresher meal.

It's hidden in a shopping plaza down the way from Chicago chicken shack (favorite place just ordered catfish), so I'm gave them a try last week, enjoyed the hummus w/chicken great option and the have many more went back on Friday (6/19/20) got the chicken and a steak shawarma and that was good also. It's refreshing to find an meditreian place with fresh food and took the time to ensure everything was right with my order before I left. If you're in the area, make sure to stop by and give them a shot. #YOUWON'TBEDISAPPOINTED

Chicken Shawarma Plate. Note: tend to not order chicken but it is so flavorful; had to get my own the next time.

This ain't no prison movie, but we got shanked at the Wessen International Kitchen! We ordered the Mansaf, a extremely delicious Lamb Shank dish filled with fluffy yellow rice and a homemade sauce that is second to none. It is a pretty amazing dish and one we would highly recommend. The chunky pieces of meat were so soft and delicate. They fell off the bone as quickly as a baby falls after taking its first steps. The Chicken Shwarma is another dish we ordered and it was shwell! Really flavorful and another home run platter for the home team!! This is the third time we've been to this magnificent Middle Eastern Joint. You won't be disappointed. Wessen International Kitchen is locked and loaded when it comes to their meals!

It is a restaurant with a mini market which makes it feel so authentic. However, upon my first visit I didn't really look around the market but I did purchase a zero calorie Salaam cola which tasted exactly like Coca Cola. I ordered chicken shawarma plate and for appetizers I got the falafels. I started with the falafels and they were surprisingly not dry at all. I was not sure what kind of sauce it was served with but it paired well with it. The plate portion size is no joke...Everything on the plate had a huge portion size: the salad, hummus, rice, and meat...all of them...Every bite with the yogurt sauce was flavorful. And then I tried a bite with hummus, rice, chicken and the sauce...wombo combo flavors. Unfortunately, I couldn't finish all of it so I had to take a to go box home. On my next visit I ordered the beef shawarma plate and I was not disappointed at all. After finishing with an empty plate, I walked around the mini market. I noticed there was allot of Middle Eastern food, candies, and drinks. I really enjoyed my Salaam cola on my first visit but they did not have the zero calorie version in stock...I did research on the brand and I found that they created the cola to provide aid to countries like (free)Palestine and Yemen which I deeply support. Besides the food, I also saw keffiyehs on display which I liked as well. Overall, I rate this place a strong 10/10. I will come back to try other entrees and desserts like their baklava cheesecake. The Filo (spelled Fillo on their menu board) was light and flaky. The texture was so nice and flaky I would have enjoyed it without the filling. But, filling it had and it was good. Both the marinade lamb and seasoned rice rounded out the dish nicely. The platter included tzatziki sauce, a bed of seasoned rice, a warm pita and Greek salad. White the type of platter was "Ouzi", the standout was the Greek salad. IMO, any salad can be easily ruined with a subpar dressing. This Greek salad and its dressing were outstanding and worthy of ordering on its own. With its laid back, casual, family feel, large portions and out of this world Greek dressing, I'll be back soon.

It's in a part of town where it can feel a little scary as there are drunkards hanging around the liquor store right across the street catcalling at women, but if you mean business when it comes to food, just tell them to bugger off. The place is fairly nondescript and has bars on their door and a tattered sign hanging from the outside, but do not judge a book by its cover. The food was absolutely the best. The owner, I guess is Lee, is a tall Iraqi man and was polite and helpful with helping me to choose dishes. I ordered the Cambodian papaya salad and the lemongrass chicken. Both were fantastic. The papaya salad was super flavorful. It was a tad bit salty, but I appreciated that in the summer, and I had already been sweating quite a lot. Papaya salad comes with a side of rice. Rice was nice and fragrant and just a tad bit sticky. The lemongrass chicken was a smaller portion as you get only one piece of meat, but it was very very tasty and you can definitely taste the lemongrass in every bite and the chicken was moist and cooked to perfection. Rice again was good, and there is also a side of pickled radish/carrots. There is an area to eat and I did eat some of my food in here and it's more like a fast casual spot. Place was clean and homey. Overall, I would say the food is excellent, and I will definitely be back again to try all the different dishes!
