Aker Kasten Eye Center...its like a cattle-call for seniors, shuffling patients around from room to room for various vision tests and measurements, then physician spends less than 10 mins reviewing case file, superficial eye checks, limited explanations before rushing to another patient, as if being timed. And, if you require cataract surgery...they instantly push laser system & premium lenses (NOT covered by insurance), which costs in excess of $3,000 (per eye)! Worst! This office staff was so rude. If she didn't have the answer to the question at the top of her head she didn't even want to burn a calorie thinking. I told her I couldn't make an appointment until I got home and would call back because I needed to check something first. I then asked her if the office had any other providers they referred to in west Palm near my work and she said no, no didn't know any. I was like, surely you keep a list of other offices or other doctors, no. She was too lazy to try. Never returning. read more

The moment I checked in with a friendly, pleasant woman, I knew my total experience would be a positive one. The wait from my appointment time was a reasonable 15 minutes. I was escorted into an exam room by Tracy, the technician who gave me an exam that far exceeded any eye exam I had at any eye doctor in the past. She was caring and informative. I went into a different area for further testing and then, remained seated for approximately 5 minutes until I was guided into the next room where I waited 2-3 minutes. There i met Dr. Jonathan at Aker-Kasten eye center. . He blew me away with his patience while explaining to me the details of my future procedure. He answered all my questions and then some. I could not be more impressed with the professionalism I experienced with this office. I'm never going anywhere else for my eyes again. I had cataract surgery on both eyes and the entire experience couldn't have been better. Several appointments were required and even though the waiting room is sometimes very full, I never waited more than 15 minutes to be seen. The front desk staff and the nurses are fabulous. They walk you through everything and all questions are answered thoroughly and thoughtfully. Dr. Jonathan Aker is the best! He did both my laser surgeries and took the time to explain everything and called me after each surgery at home to check on me. The facility is modern, bright, and gorgeous. The results were amazing! I could read license plates on the way home from surgery. I'm now coming here for regular eye visits too. Thank you, Aker Kasten for giving me my sight back! read more

March 4th and 18th , 2024 I had cataracts surgery by Dr. Jon Aker of AKer Kasten Eye Center in Boca Raton Fl . I was treated with kindness by each member of the the professional staff as they explained the complex process of the delicate eye surgery. i loved the positive vibe from all the staff especially after my last exam confirmed I have 20/20 vision long distance with my Femtosecond laser surgery with a Toric Lense . After being disappointed by eye doctors attached to eyeglass factories like LensCrafters, I decided to find an eye medical center with the word EYE in the name. I found Aker Kasten Eye Center online and made an appointment. Nothing could have prepared me for the professional treatment I received. From the moment I walked in everything was run smoothly like a well oiled machine. I waited less than 2 minutes from the time I arrived before I was taken into an examination room. My tech, Daryl, talked me through everything that I would be doing in my exam. She was professional and very competent. I have avoided being dilated my whole life because I was afraid of eye drops. Daryl talked me through it, and it was not a negative experience at all. Next, I was taken into another exam room where a student intern named Kevin examined my eyes. He was also super professional with a great personality. He will make a fine doctor. After he was finished Dr. Seidel came in to go over Kevin's findings and finish the exam. Although I was told it could take 2-3 hours I was out in 45 minutes feeling totally satisfied that I had a completely professional exam. There was nothing wrong with my eyes and I was scheduled for another exam a year from now. I wish all Doctor's offices ran this smoothly! I highly recommend Aker Kasten Eye Center. read more

I went back to this Drs. Office after catered surgery which cos t me over 10k dollars out of pocket, and there after they charged me 575$ for laser a mo after for one of catered lens. Mos later mad an appointment for more laser (waited 1.5 hrs for my appt.) which I was told is warranted and no charge.. After checking in for the laser, the proceed to give me an exam which I did not ask for, and now they are billing me for the exam. In short the staff is a bunch of bumbling idiots and unsympathetic and the office manager is a bit evil to the patients.. read more

I had cataract surgery August 25 2020 on my right eye. My Opthalmologist sent me to Aker Kasten. My first visit and exam went very well. (July 30 2020)Staff were very nice. I Was impressed with all the tests. UNTIL the numbing med started to wear off. My eye was killing me. I couldn't keep it closed or open or rest. I called and the response was that everyone has gone home. No recommendations as to what to do or why I was so sore. Called my Opthalmologist and he rushed medication drops prescription to CVS before they closed. My cornea was scratched. By the morning I was at least comfortable. After check up that morning with my Doctor it was confirmed cornea was scratched. I went back to surgery for final measurements . I picked out the lens I wanted $3295,00 I was then told Surgery would call me to give me a date. No one called. Almost 2 weeks later I called. Surgery eventually called me back and gave me a date. Had my virtual doctor's assessment. He sent over my Heart nuclear test results. On Thursday night (2 working days before surgery) I'm told I need an EKG. Whilst a nuclear heart test is WAY MORE ADVANTAGES than an EKG. I felt like cancelling there and then. I should have. Surgery day I did not even see Dr Kabul. Someone did call me at 5 to see how I was. That was it. No call from surgeon no follow up from anyone. It's exactly a week since surgery. I called their office saying I was very surprised I had no further appointment or any call from surgeon. Now I do , but I had to call them! Everything is brighter but my vision is not clear. I should see Far mid and near. Unfortunately that is not the case. Time will tell. I do not recommend this Institute. UPDATE DEC 9 2020 My vision has not improved it is worse! Very blurred vision. Plus it scratches all the time. There is no focus near far or in the middle. Don't go for the Symphony lens it's a waste of money!Opthalmologist says there is a crease in the lens and I have scar tissue. Back I go tomorrow read more

As far as medical centers go, this would definitely be one of the finest I have been to. This place is very nice, very clean, and full of state of the art equipment. Usually I find eye places to be a bit stuffy and hurried, but the staff here are very kind and thorough. I would have to rate it as the finest eye facility I have ever visited. The waiting area is well kept and accomodating, and the exam rooms are very well designed with a warm and relaxing feeling. Top notch eye care here. read more

A top notch eye clinic in every way. The building as you enter appears like a vacation villa. The interior is beautifully and thoughtfully done. The staff is all very polite and nice and knowledgeable. Everyone seems to know the answers to every department and question you ask. What a pleasure. If they say they will return your call they certainly do. I went for cataract surgery. My doctor or son couldn't have chosen a better place for me aside from the fact that there is another eye clinic that is known world wide. This Aker Kasten should be one of those eye clinics as well. Top notch surgeon Dr Aker took care of me. I was very impressed with his mannerism and his caring. He even apologized for my having to wait hours when I was there once earlier. It never happened again. The waiting time for each appointment was not long and I was taken care of respectfully and with patience and caring. Everyone was as nice as caring as they could be. Dr. Kasten sat with me at the beginning and patiently explained to me the two types of cataract surgery that the clinic offers. The Laser and the regular. And gave ME the option to choose and the option to change my mind should I change my mind. Everything is printed out for you so you can see the price involved, when your appointments are scheduled and your drops that have to be put in your eyes after the cataract surgery. All is printed out for you personally all given to you in a Aker Kasten folder for you to take with you. How convenient. With Dr, Aker's top notch reputation as a surgeon I knew I was in good hands. Especially since he offered a prayer before he started the surgery. I was being wheeled out before I knew it. I felt very comfortable. A clear plastic shield was placed over the eye operated on and I was told to removed it when I got home. Nothing more needed. Just the drops prescribed. That is a full time job. But well worth it. The next day's return for a check up of the eye went well. Two weeks later the other eye was done. I now have 20/20 vision restored in both eyes. After the surgery crackers and peanut butter , water, or juice is offered. Very thoughtful since we were not permitted to eat before the surgery. It was a most pleasant experience for something that is supposed to be unpleasant. I would recommend Aker Kaston clinic to anyone all over the world who wants a top notch experience and have top notch surgery performed in a top notch atmosphere and top notch doctors. This to me was the best eye clinic. I went to three others to view before I chose Aker Kasten. I certainly was not sorry. Quite the contrary. I highly recommend Aker Kasten. The facility was clean, treatment was professional and all aspects were carefully explained as we went along. Most important the outcome was better then I hoped for. Roughly a year ago, I had cataract surgery done on both my eyes by Dr. Aker. The staff and center for the surgery were excellent. However, the followup care was abysmal. Following the surgery, Dr. Aker never once bothered to look at the result of his work. Instead, i was handed off to a quite overworked optometrist who spent only a couple of minutes with me at each follow up appointment and instead relied on optometry students from Nova Southeastern University to check my eyes. I was having a reaction to the steroid drops that are used post surgery, and the students would have to keep running out to get advice from the optometrist as to what to do. I was given a sample bottle of glaucoma drops to counteract the increased pressure in my eyes from the steroid drops, and when the sample bottle of those drops ran out and I needed just a couple of drops to get me through to the end of using the steroid drops, I was told to go fill a very pricey prescription. That was not very patient friendly. Then, I received a phone message saying they no longer were accepting my insurance, and that my three month follow up appointment had been cancelled. When I called to ask for advice on where to go instead, they offered no help and said to look on my insurer's list. That was also not very patient friendly.
