Parking in the area is difficult, to put it mildly. After circling the block several times, I finally found parking a couple of blocks away. It's paid parking until 8 pm, so make sure you visit the pay station with your license plate number. I walked in and was seated immediately. I waited several minutes for my order to be taken, but it wasn't an unreasonable amount of time to wait. After a few minutes,I was told that the restaurant was out of mozzarella cheese so I needed to change my order. The food was good. The restaurant is small and cozy, but it had quite a few customers in it, so I was surprised that I had such an attentive server, since there were only two servers on the floor when I arrived. This was such a homey and classic Italian restaurant that has been hidden under my nose for years everything about this place was traditional Italian. The service was great, everyone was so sweet. We even got to talk to the owner of the restaurant who is super nice. They convinced us right away to get dessert also, no regrets! The food was so delicious. There are street parking hours enforced so I would check the hours if you park on the street, but the restaurant also has a parking lot behind it which I recommend. We ordered appetizers to share and each got our own dish. Items ordered: - Calamari Sautee: The seafood tasted pretty fresh, not the most fried or crispy if you prefer that. - Insalata Caprese: Comes with 4 pieces and you can cut in half for 8 pieces. Tomatoes were fresh and overall a pleasant appetizer. - Bruschetta: I really enjoyed the bruschetta with diced tomatoes and toppings. Would get again! - Pasta Special: The special included spinach fettuccine, rock shrimp, and clams in a creamy tomato sauce. I really liked the sauce and pasta was well cooked. Street Parking is easy and plentiful. The restaurant is small but they will do their best to get you seated promptly. I highly recommend making a reservation. I loved all their pastas and enjoys the calamari. This restaurant is located right in the heart of Downtown San Bruno. There are plenty of metered parking spots around this establishment. We were greeted and seated by a friendly waiter upon entering the restaurant. He told us about the specials for the day. We ordered the Calamari Saute, West Coast Penne, Fettuccine Alfredo with Prawns, and the Linguine Tuttomare. The calamari saute as a starter was pretty tasty and the calamari wasn't over cooked. The west coast penne had a good amount of chicken, sundried tomatos, and asparagus. The Aurora garlic sauce went well with it. The prawns in the Fettuccine Alfredo were huge. The seafood in the Linguine Tuttomare were fresh and the pomodoro sauce was light. All the pasta were cooked al dente. While we were eating, the waiter came to check up on us a couple of times. We enjoyed the great service and the delicous food. The prices were fairly reasonable and they gave us big portions. We will be back to try their other entrees like the chicken parmesan and their house specialty lasagna. read more

We needed some lunch after a doctor's appointment and wanted to try something relatively nearby and new to us. I was disappointed to see that the public parking has new payment kiosks. The days of free parking are coming to an end. They were scheduled to be placed into service either February or March. The restaurant itself isn't particularly wide but it is deep. There were only about three tables in use when we walked in after 1pm. We were greeted and seated, told about the specials, our drink orders taken and left to peruse the menus. Mom had had a large breakfast so wasn't hungry. She ordered a Bruschetta to munch on and she only ate 1/2 of that. She did try a couple of leaves from our Caesar Salad. Linguine Tutti Mare - 4 - Well-cooked assortment of seafood (clams, scallops, prawns, and calamari with properly cooked linguine. Special of the Day - Linguine with Clams, Mussels and Shrimp in a Tomato Cream Sauce - 5 - While it looked quite similar to my dish, the flavor was creamy and delicious. Caesar Salad - Classic Caesar Salad - 4 - Anchovies would have been nice but not everyone loves them so we understand. Bruschetta - We did not try. The restaurant was nice. The service was good. I usually take pictures of the food but I was excited to eat. Nice Cesar salad, amazing carbonara, as an appetizer I chose the calamari in tomato sauce(Dee-lish)! Ordered a nicely priced bottle of red wine (Dee-lush!) They gave us a complementary shot of limoncello and I also had a dbl. espresso. Our second time there. First time was better from few years ago. Second time, was just ok. We, family of 11, felt hurried. They cleared our plates too fast. During our first couple of visits, we were so impressed by the restaurant that we almost booked a private party with them for a birthday celebration. Located on San Mateo Avenue in downtown San Bruno, West Coast doesn't have a private lot, but there are metered spots along the street as well as a few lots in walking distance. Inside, the yellow walls and earthy toned furniture make an inviting and warm, relaxed environment. The staff always keeps the place clean and tidy. Below are some of the many dishes that we have ordered: Caesar Salad - Z & V always order these greens, so they must like it. Zuppa Del Giorno - Don't forget to ask what the soup of the day is! They are yummy, especially the Split Pea and Lentil. Fettuccine Con Salsiccia - Z ordered this once, then moved onto the West Coast Penne, then the Spaghetti Con Calamari, both of which he has had multiple times. I guess he liked the other pastas more than this one. Spaghetti Con Calamari - Surprisingly, Z likes this Primi Piatti so much that it's become a regular order of his. Pasta Primavera - One of the few vegetarian dishes that they offer. DJ has been unimpressed by it, unfortunately. West Coast Penne - A flavourful creamy pasta dish. Z and I like it. Gnocchi Gorgonzola - V's go-to dish. He likes to add chicken to it. Lasagna al Ragu - DJ finds the serving as a bit on the smaller side or just not fully filling. Polla Marsala - Not on the menu, but they will replace the veal in the Vitello Marsala with chicken. Disappointingly bland, though. Bistecca alla Griglia - Perfectly cooked and tasty. Looks lean, but is fattier than it looks. Calamari Steak Piccata - Good. Next on my list to try are their Gamberi Bordolese and Linguine alle Vongole. Service is always nice and friendly. I came to west coast cafe for mothers day celebration and glad that I did. The atmosphere was cozy and classic. The waiters were friendly and attentive. Also, the food was amazing! We ordered the bruschetta, spaghetti with Ragu for the kids to split, seafood, pasta, chicken, and lemon sauce, fettuccine Alfredo, lasagna, and a bottle of house wine pinot Grigio.
