Grew up in San Bruno in the early 90's and moved away. Came back to visit family and Roma's was still there! So happy and glad to go before leaving the state again. I forgot how good their sandwiches are. The bread is crunchy, fresh and I've yet to find a sandwich place like this in Arizona. This is the best sandwich spot in the bay. Service was amazing where the staff offered to try anything if we wanted. There is a small dining area, which we sat in and enjoyed our lunch. My go to deli. I know many will say Little Luccas os better, but if you don't want an extremely large and straight forward deli sandwich, this is the spot. The aromatic deli smells when you walk in gets your gears going. There is usually two sizes foe the sandwiches but the large usually does it for me and a other to shared and be completely satisfied. A large menu and plenty of chips drinks and random items to look at and possibly buy. There's a pretty big dining area inside as well where you can opt to eat. The staff are always super friendly amd are easy to chit chat with. Because the deli is t mega busy the wait times are fast as well. You can even order for pick up as well. Parking is easy and location is easy to spot. Always a go to when in the mood for a large good quality deli sandwich. read more

Great local sandwich shop that makes flavorful sandwiches. Friendly staff that hustles get the orders to the customers. Fresh salads are also offered along with a big array of chips and bottled drinks. As of last week they now offer tea drinks and desserts that I haven't tried yet but they look delicious. I went to the food truck in San Francisco and got the Turkey Deluxe. The sauce on the sandwich was impeccable, and the pesto was some of the highest quality I've had. Came back to Roma Deli because a colleague had went and inspired me to return again! I ordered a couple of different small sandwiches, got the tuna and the roast beef sandwich. Both were solid on their soft sweet roll and the toast was a nice touch. I got both sandwiches because I wanted two different flavors in a single meal and it was the best of both worlds. I did feel like there was a little bit less roast beef they put into the sandwich was less than the last time though. The prices have gone up slightly since my last review (which is to be expected in 2024) but I think the value is still there. A small sandwich is good for a regular appetite size. With their regular sandwiches starting around $11 and larges up to $16. Going with one of their signature sandwiches is a good way to save some cash instead of building your own. They have street parking and a lot behind the business. Do remember to pay your meters as San Bruno has implemented a new pay for parking system. read more

Needed a quick sandwich near SFO before a long, rainy drive back to Sonoma County. We found Roma Deli on Yelp. It's only a 10 minute drive away and it did the trick. The name is a bit confusing to me because nothing about this deli seemed particularly Italian. Italian or not, it satisfied our hanger and didn't break the bank, so we left happy. I got a vegetarian sando on toasted sourdough roll (fresh lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles, avocado, and provolone). My guest opted for a gyro. Both were large and warm. Greetings to all, l haven't been to Roma Deli in a few years, l was hoping for some change for the good; not today. The place itself hasn't changed much at all, dimly lit with lunch room seating for a small group of people, but for what I have seen; l don't think they could handle a lunch crowd along with their online orders. The service was great but after completing my sales transaction, no receipt was given , and I didn't notice it until I got home. I ordered the Turkey Bacon club sandwich on Soft roll, the roll was (tuff - dry ) and shorter on one side than the other making for an uneven bite for the sandwich itself. The sandwich had maybe 2 pieces of Bacon in it and I asked and paid for extra meat , the name of the sandwich is (Turkey Bacon Club) . WOW! I sad over the change with the new owners. I knew the original owners and then the ones following. ALL honored the legacy of quality by previous owners. I picked up a couple sandwiches today and got home to find both had almost NO meat!!! it was all bread and cheese, one layer of meat. I lived a few blocks away for over 2 decades and used to come to Roma all the time atleast 1-2 times a week when it was the previous older Korean husband and wife who owned Roma. Flash forward to current day, I moved a city over and haven't been to Roma in years. I got my Turkey supreme and the Dutch seemed smaller, the bread was over toasted and almost burnt and it did not taste the same. Prices have Increased which is fine due to cost of produce going up. I noticed that the deli looked odd with random trinkets and collectibles for sale. Years ago there would always be a line out the door, but now its empty and I could see why. I realize this area is competitive with Delis and sandwiches, but after my last visit I'll be going elsewhere for sandwiches. For those who never had sandwiches from "the old roma" they may not know the difference, but for those who supported over the years will be hit with the reality that these sandwiches aren't the same. I was in the San Bruno neighborhood, and decided to finally give this place a spot because I was craving a sandwich. This place did not disappoint, and will be added as part of the Bay Area sandwich rotation.. I grabbed the roast beef BLT, and it was so tasty that I didn't even have time to grab a photo. A large size is the equivalent to a Little Lucca sandwich. The dutch crunch was fantastic and I appreciated the option to toast the bread (I did, and it made the sandwich perfect). The staff who took my order was very pleasant and friendly, and was kind in asking about all the sandwich options like toppings and toast. The cashier was especially amicable to all who entered. I appreciate how much seating was available, as well as the options for snacks. I am eager to try the potato and Mac salad next time. It is a very casual spot, and a bit too dark. Once received, quickly noticed it is a huge sandwhich. But it was a bit bland since only mayo is put on the sandwhich. Probably the best value sandwich in a 10 mile radius. Quality on par or better than Little Lucca SSF, miles better than Little Lucca Burlingame, and sandwiches are even more massive than either. Great bread and amazing garlic spread. To me, Leonardo's is slightly better quality, but Roma has the value for money. You could literally feed 3 people with a large sandwich. The service is excellent and you rarely need to stand in line. One of the best lunch spots in San Bruno. read more

I came here with a pretty good appetite looking for a sandwich after dropping my mother-in-law off at SFO. This place is very old and has probably been here more than 50 years. The front server was friendly and kindly let me use the restroom in the back which entailed moving past a vertical folding screen in place to discourage rift raft I guess. The server recommended the Italian beef over the meatball sub even though he preferred the meatball sub. I'd never had an Italian beef so I ordered it on a soft roll with hot spread. I had to wait a few minutes in the small dining area which was simply decorated and clean. Overall the sandwich tasted very good with the warm toasted bread and provolone cheese and dipping sauce but I didn't really like the beef, mixed vegetables (carrots, cauliflower, cabbage), and the hot spread which had chopped jalapeños. Nonetheless I would like to come back to try the meatball sub. read more

I'm surprised this place just caught my attention recently while in the area, as I love sandwiches. Especially with coppa, mortadella, and salami. I opted for the large ny sandwich with Dutch crunch. Delicious sandwiches stuffed full of quality Boar's Head meats! Their breads come toasted and the Dutch crunch is lovely. *Just a heads up, if you select sourdough bread, it is very thin because they don't use sourdough rolls; They use sourdough toast. The Hot Reuben has a good amount of meat and is quite filling. As always, Boar's Head deli meats are wonderful! For bread, I chose Dutch Crunch and both the meat and the bread tasted pretty good. Unlike some other sandwich shops, the bread wasn't dry at all and you can taste the freshness. That's much appreciated! The bread wasn't very thick or extra crunchy compared to Dutch Crunch breads from other deli shops I've tried though. This can be a hit or miss depending on your own preferences. I personally prefer the thick, crunchy ones. But either way, it's still great when it comes to taste! read more

Roma Deli is a pretty good spot for sandwiches in San Bruno. I like the food options in this part of San Bruno although definitely dissapointed that you have to pay for parking when it is not even a prime location :( I stopped by Roma and it is definitely on the older side, but the people working there are pretty friendly and there is seating inside although this is more of a grab and go kind of spot. They also sell snacks on the shelves and surprisingly also Sanrio items so if you come with a partner that is obsessed with that then you might end up buying more than just sandwiches. I got the New York Special Sandwich ($14.45 for a Large/$11.95 for a Regular). It comes with salami, coppa, mortadella, provolone, oil & vinegar. I also got it with everything on it although I somehow forget that usually comes with pickles and I dislike pickles on anything. So next time I'd definitely say everything, but pickles! The ingredients they used are super fresh and the salami and coppa are sooo good. I also like their dutch crunch and you can get it toasted which I opoted for although the roof of my mouth hates that decision. I'd say it's a 8/10 sandwich. The meat they don't stack as much as other of the top tier deli's sandwiches, but still was an enjoyable meal. Definitely worth a return. read more

There a a couple of sandwich shops that stand out in the area and what makes them special is their specialty sandwiches. But when it comes to their basic deli sandwiches they are pretty much on the same playing field, except for their prices. In retrospect Roma's is just as good AND you don't have to buy a gigantic sandwich, so it's a little cheaper. They get busy, but not the 10+ people in line waiting kind of busy. Their service is respectfully quick and their chip selection is pretty broad. They have some seating inside which is nice so you can eat that toasted sandwich while it still hot. A solid deli that has replaced Little Lucca's for me whenever I'm craving a chicken salad sandwich. For some reason the last few times I've been to Little Lucca's for their chicken salad sandwich it tasted bland, but Roma has not disappointed me in that regard! Their chicken salad sandwich is always tasty and you have the added bonus of having your sandwich toasted (which Luccas does not offer)! Love their Dutch crunch bread as well. My sister and brother in law frequently order from them. They are a nice family. We called in our order for pick up. It's located on San Bruno Ave around many other restaurants. Street parking is hard unless you're lucky. We usually go in pairs, one drives and the other hops out lol Food was ready upon pick up. We ordered the hot pastrami and the hot turkey both with pickles and their garlic spread. Yum! We love their garlic spread! We have also tried their meatball sandwich and that's equally delicious too. Their meatballs are soft and they offer plenty of sauce. It's one of our favorite places for deli sandwiches. What a great Old School Deli! Decent street parking, plus spaces behind the shop. The staff is efficient and pretty busy so be patient and articulate. There is also ample inside seating, and a decent selection of Chips to add to your Lunch. Pricing is not cheap, but it's also inline with many other shops with a Small Sandwich running around $10 and a Large about $12. As for my experience, there was some confusion over my order which was annoying, but not a game changer (I try not to be a Ken). My Sandwich though was ample, quickly made, and jammed full of fresh ingredients. Lunch was yummy. So yes I would suggest checking out Roma Deli if in the area wanting a Sandwich, but also note that Hana Hawaiian BBQ is also down the block and they are open past 3:00pm. read more

Why did it take me so long to try Roma Deli when I've been getting my hair done up the block for over a year?! I stopped by on a Tuesday a few months back before 12pm. They were busy, but the gentleman who helped me was so friendly. I got the smaller size New York special on Dutch Crunch, toasted, no mustard and no pickles. While it was a "small" it was big, not Little Lucca's huge but a good super filling size. It was also under $10, what a steal! My sandwich was ready in about 4-5. The New York Special is a pork deli meat lover's dream: filled with mortadella, salami, coppa, provolone, and oil and vinegar. It wasn't overly salty and the meat tasted great. And, of course, their garlic sauce is fire! Yes, I still love Little Lucca, but I feel like sometimes Little Lucca can be a bit inconsistent (not with the ginormous sandwiches but sometimes quality) and they're like always super busy so the customer service can be so-so. Love how there's some gems like Roma in the downtown San Bruno area steps away from where I get my hair done. If only I could eat the sandwich while I have a ton of foils in my hair. LOL eating even the smallest snack can be a challenge, but The New York Special is worth the wait after several hours in the chair. read more
