My daughter had her 5th birthday party at West Coast Elite Gymnastics. What a great space! The coaches did a great job keep the kids having fun but being safe. Can't wait to do it again next year!

She is really excited for her first gymnastics birthday at West Coast Elite Gymnastics!!! So fun!!

This location was…read moreunfortunately recommended to us by the Regional Center as a place welcoming of children on the spectrum. Our experience was quite the opposite. Upon signing in for our trial class, we told the instructor our daughter's name. Right as we were about to explain that she is on the spectrum, the instructor told my daughter "You can't talk or what?" When we told him our daughter is nonverbal, he literally laughed and said "Oh." When the website said there would be lots of fun and laughter in class, I didn't realize they meant at the expense of my daughter. Within a few minutes the instructor ran up to us in front of all the other parents and told us we should bring her another day for an adaptive class, but that she could stay for the current class. When we we told him this class was recommended and did not see any information on the website about adaptive classes, he just said oh yeah we don't put that online. Before we attended the class, we made sure to fill out the student profile to make the staff aware of my daughter's diagnosis. Upon reviewing her profile, they could have let us know about all of our options since they do not provide this information online. At one point he started calling my daughter tippy toes. Making a nickname out of something many autistic children struggle with, was upsetting. At the end he said they did not have any time to focus on my daughter because they had too many kids. I never expected the focus to be solely on my daughter (even though the staff definitely made more of an effort to help the youngest gymnasts). I just wanted a place where she could feel included and supported, not made fun of. This class would have been a challenge for anyone being introduced to gymnastics for the first time. Had the staff seemed like they cared about helping my daughter and hadn't laughed at her difficulty speaking, we would have definitely come back for an adaptive class. Please make an attempt to train your staff in interacting with students of all abilities before you create another miserable experience for a special needs family.

I was completely comfortable answering questions about my son's autism and his support needs during the intake call. I understand that these questions are necessary. However, what made the experience uncomfortable was the attitude of the staff member, Jessica. After nearly every answer I gave, she would respond with an annoyed-sounding "Hmm... okay," which came across as dismissive and judgmental. When she asked if my son attends a "typical school," her tone made me feel like I was being interrogated rather than welcomed. It got to the point where I had to ask her if there was an issue because her responses consistently felt rude. She mentioned that she has a lot of experience working with autistic children, but that wasn't reflected in the way she communicated. Families seeking programs for children with autism deserve empathy, patience, and respectful communication--especially during an intake call, which is often the first impression of the organization. Unfortunately, this interaction left me feeling discouraged rather than supported. I probably will just continue swimming classes rather than even starting here if this is how they discriminate against families with children on the spectrum.

We arrived at 3:59 PM and, as directed by the front desk, walked through the ballet room to get there. The ballet class was already past its scheduled end time, so we waited until the students finished before passing through. Halfway across the room, the ballet teacher suddenly began yelling at us aggressively. My daughter was terrified. I calmly asked her to lower her voice, but she continued screaming--following us into the gymnastics room in front of dozens of children. I have a heart condition and began feeling unwell from the stress, yet she would not stop. No staff intervened. I assumed the school would handle it properly, but I was wrong. Later, the owner defended the teacher, accused me of being a "criminal," and took zero responsibility. The real victims were my daughter and the many children who witnessed this unprovoked outburst. Parents should be aware of three serious concerns: 1. Poor safety - No security, unattended front desk, and children can easily wander outside to the street. I personally saw a 6-year-old disappear for 20 minutes. 2. Emotionally unstable ballet teacher - Multiple online reviews mention her history of yelling at kids when parents aren't present. 3. Unprofessional management - Canceled classes without notice, no accountability, and intimidation tactics from the owner, Serge. I regret not calling the police that day. If I had, maybe fewer children would be subjected to this behavior. Parents, please protect your children. A school should be a safe, nurturing place--not one where kids are traumatized and parents are threatened. I've attached a video showing my daughter's reaction after being traumatized by the teacher--no child should ever go through this.

The instructors and owner really care about the kids and it shows. My kid has been taking private with Johnny and has rapidly progressed. Every coach here is positive, professional, and makes learning fun. They push my daughter, but only within her limits. She grows every single week and her limits keep extending. She looks forward to each and every gymnastics session. I am always seeing them cleaning -- when I mean always, I mean every single time I am here. There is no "gym" smell. It is spotless. The front desk employees are great, especially Savannah. Most of the people have worked here for years and years and it shows. It is a great, positive environment for staff which in turn makes it a great studio for kids. This studio cares about the kids. I do not feel like a dollar sign like at other studios. This studio is professional and positive and I feel that has helped translate into every other area of my kid's life. Details matter and the attention and focus she is learning here will serve her will. Thank you Stars!

Despite the high volume of students, the gym is run in an organized way. My daughter is a visual learner, so we really appreciate that the coaches take time to demonstrate the skills (either themselves or by using students as examples) rather than just explaining things verbally. This has made a big difference in her learning. Another thing I love is how clean the facility is. The staff is constantly cleaning the floors, equipment, and restrooms, which is especially important given how many kids are in and out throughout the day. You also don't often find a gymnastics facility that can accommodate and have enough seating for 50+ parents to sit comfortably on the sidelines while watching and waiting. It makes the experience more pleasant and welcoming for families. One of our favorite things is their flexible makeup class policy. Whether it's a trip or your child isn't feeling well, and it's so nice that they offer options to make up for few missed classes.
