Saturday afternoon I came home only to find the garage door wouldn't open. Went inside to find a broken spring on our roll up door. I sent out a couple of text messages back in 20 minutes. The price was lower than a couple of other quotes. Sunday morning, I returned the text with another question & got a message asking if I wanted service on Sunday. UPDATE: JASON HAS A DOG! AND IM IN LOVE! I called Jason back in September 2019 for a wiring issue that came undone and he was over literally within minutes after finding him on Angie's List. Now earlier this July, my garage decided to mess with me and break the spring. Jason came over within half-hour and HE BROUGHT HIS DOG! I mean I love dogs and I'm cool with Jason from meeting him the first time. I brought his pup inside and let him play with my pup inside while Jason and I talked while he was fixing the garage. He was able to squeeze into a single car garage slot where my car was trapped inside and able to swap out the coil and manage to make a clean fix in little time. What an ethical business! I had an issue with the garage door on my rental unit so I reached out to Jason. Updated... We can't close the garage door in the last 2 days after my wife picked up my kids from school in the afternoon. I have asked him to swapping 2 sensors from left to right, and right to left to see it would help to solve the issue or not due to strong sunlight in the afternoon hitting the LHS sensor. Finally he came by today on the 3rd one, and swapped the sensors. I wished he could come over on the 1st or @ least the 2nd day, but not until the third day with my multiple phone calls and voice messages. As discussed, I would give him a feedback today to see the garage can be closed this afternoon when my wife gets my kids home from school in the afternoon. I was pleasantly surprised when he told me that he could be here in an hour on a Saturday. I can't even begin to say enough about how wonderful Jason Micallef from West Coast Garage Door is! So skilled, knowledgeable, talented, friendly, prompt, helpful, honest and trustworthy! My garage door opener went out and so I called the company who installed our door and opener in 2009. Without even coming out and looking at it, I was told I needed a new opener and I was quoted an extremely high price. I then contacted a friend who highly recommended Jason at West Coast Garage Door and called him. He knew specific information about my opener and by sending him a photo of it he knew when it was made and whether it would be fixable. He came over within an hour and he fixed it for a fraction of the price I was quoted by the other company who said I needed a new one. Plus, he said if he had to install a new one it would have been for less than half the price of the first quote I got! Jason installed a new transformer type component, greased the rail, adjusted limits and force settings, lubricated all bearings, rollers, hinges etc. He told me what type of lubricant to buy to be able to maintain the door and opener in the future. He told me what kind of lightbulbs to buy for the opener to last the longest. An added perk is that the garage door now opens and closes so much more quietly! This past Saturday night I pulled into the garage and as it was closing we heard a loud pop like a gun shot and couldn't get it back open- my car was trapped inside. We called WCGD late in the evening of October 24th and Jason answered the call; gave us an estimate to replace a broken torsion spring and the cables had slipped off the rollers. Told us that there are unscrupulous companies that will install springs made in China [charging $450] that are far inferior to the springs he purchases from a California dealer. The price difference is about $100, but the "made in USA" springs last 10 to 15 years; my "made in China" spring lasted just 5 years. Jason arrived at 10 AM the very next morning, not only swapped out the spring, but placed TWO springs on the door, when previously, there was just one. Jason wasn't done yet... He lubricated the new springs, the rollers, cables, door hinges and the garage door opener's worm gear. Checked his work several times to get the door to close quietly and completely, so rain does not enter under the rubber gasket at the door bottom. Thanks Jason for a job well done. Customer service at it's finest! Saturday morning our garage door malfunctioned making this horrible noise and would only go up a few inches. My husband called Jason and without hesitation he scheduled a time to come out Saturday afternoon. He not only showed up when scheduled, but called first to say he was on his way. After calling another company that I found in TheHomeMag for a quote on a new garage door opener I tried calling other companies that I found on Google to compare pricing. The numbers kept bringing me back to the same company. I thought that was very strange considering they had different names online and different phone numbers. Rather than answering yes/no he says, "please keep in mind that some people love us and some people don't." Normally I look them up before booking, however I did it last in this case. After googling the license # listed in their ad and couldn't find any info, I also googled their name and found nothing. I call back and ask for their correct company name and they asked where my location was??? Again, I thought this was odd. I proceeded to BBB website and was HORRIFIED by the more than 350 complaints against their company and the approximately 95 "alternate names" they are otherwise known as!! NOT ONE SINGLE POSITIVE REVIEW! Immediately I go on Yelp to find another company. I found West Coast Garage Door had only 5 star reviews :) so I called and got Jason on the phone. Jason was beyond professional and knowledgable with what I was looking for and his price was great. I booked an appt for the next day. When calling the other company to cancel, the gentleman says "can I ask why you are cancelling?" My response was "sure, I looked you up on BBB and you have over 350 complaints and an absurd amount of alternate company names." He began making excuses, saying I had put in the wrong company name, and that they have been in business for 20 years.
