Amazing customer service! The manager, James Willis is incredibly polite, flexible, and truly works with your needs and life circumstances. Everything is handled quickly and professionally, which makes the whole process stress-free. The facility is always clean, smells great, and has carts available, which makes moving items into storage so much easier. Payments are simple through the app, and the entire place is very well organized. I've rented storage many times before, but I've never experienced this level of high-quality service. Under new management so the rates got bumped up, but still price-competitive to the rest of the area. (10x10 unit is $139+$13 per month as of 3/28/2022.) I exited due to moving from the Reno area to Tahoe (so it was way less convenient for me to access) and once the rent became market price from my grandfathered $90/month that kinda pushed me to get my act together and clean up. Note they have a 30 day notice clause so account accordingly. The old managers were a lot more flexible about this and were able to just close it out after notice, but this is reasonable policy. read more

I don't usually post negative reviews about a business, but there is a first time for everything. So here it goes: I have been a loyal customer at West Coast Storage in South Virginia for several years (since 2019. I keep my unit neat and tidy, have never bothered the office staff for anything, and have paid my bill on time ever month via auto pay. When I first started renting my unit there it was around $100 month for my 10x10 indoor upstairs unit. When West Coast bought out the original owners, they increased my rate to $154 a month. Now they have jacked my rent up to $187 a month. I looked on their web site and found the rent for a 10x10 unit upstairs was $99-$114 per month regular price, on sale for $79-$91 per month. I called and questioned the huge difference in price, and I was told this was the cost for new customers only and after they moved in their rent would be going up just like mine has. So beware of renting here, they have no customer loyalty and no concern in retaining loyal customers. I understand inflation can dictate cost increases but I feel this is pure greed. If you're going to charge this much, charge it from the beginning so the buyer knows what to expect. Luring people in with low rent and then jacking it up to nearly double the amount is wrong. It sounds like bait and switch to me. (The action of advertising goods with the intention of substituting inferior OR more expensive goods). Shame on you West Coast Storage!! read more

My family was really in a bind to find storage for our travel trailer. Max responded quickly and helped me reserve my spot until I could come look at it. When I arrived he was very friendly and helpful. He even told us a couple great jokes! We decided that Extra storage was a good fit and Max's service was the main reason for that decision. When I first got my unit the man who had got me into my unit was super helpful. However, I had put in my 30 day notice and I got all of my stuff out of the unit on July 1st when my last day was the 3rd. Knowing that I gave my notice they should fully understand that obviously my unit would be empty by then cause I was also in touch with them over the phone on when my due date was and to have the unit empty. After that I had received another balance of $100 for the month of July and I was a bit confused on why I was being charged a full month when my last day was July 3rd. I ended up calling them and a woman named Ashley had spoken to me. She was very unpleasant to talk to and seemed as though she didn't want to do her job. Now I had spoken to this lady a couple times on the phone and she had seemed to always have a negative attitude and talked to me like I was stupid. When I had asked about the balance she very aggressively said "did you call us to let us know you had moved out of the unit" when again the whole point of a 30 day notice was to let them know when I'd be cleaning out my unit. Lastly she had told me that she would remove the balance but I still had $8 to pay. At this point I was super annoyed because of the way she was speaking to me so I just basically said whatever, paid the $8, and hung up. Not saying I don't recommend this storage unit but Ashley should not be the one answering the phones. read more

I had been calling around for a small storage locker for quite some time. Max at Extra Self Storage not only answered the phone but had exactly what I was looking for, significantly less than I expected. I drove right over. Max was personable, friendly, and efficient. He showed me storage options that might best fit my needs and discussed the access times and procedures. Within 30 minutes, I had the lock for my new storage unit, with affordable insurance. The facility was clean, well-maintained, and the camera coverage was amazing. Beware new ownership recently took over and raised the monthly rate 64%. Don't get me wrong I understand the need for increasing rates from time to time, but 64% in one month is unacceptable. It's good incentive though for us to clean out the stuff we don't really need anyway and leave the storage unit behind. read more

This is our storage location for all things Burning Man related. Bikes, costumes, cooking supplies, air mattresses, you get the idea. We've lost our keys no less than three times and they're always gracious about replacing them and cutting our old lock. The price is fair for what you get: security, climate control, pleasant staff, and decent location right off the highway. The bathroom is stunningly clean even when dirty burners are alll up in it. If you want that fifth star please install trash cans Stor-Tyme! We certainly pay enough to justify the cost of the labor to throw away our trash. read more

The manager of this place Max is amazing and very professional. From the time I was looking for a drive up and he's constant follow up, he never misses a day. Come and meet him and you will amaze with his excellent customer service. I managed a big box store and for sure Max is a great example of providing awesome service. Kudos to Manager. I made a reservation for a storage unit and hot the confirmation that I was confirmed just needed to show up at the facility to finish everything. I showed up today Tuesday at approximately 145pm and find the office locked and a sign on the door stating fue to staffing issues the office wouldn't be open that much but call the phone number listed and someone will respond. I called the number and got voice-mail and left a message. Now the office is nit open Sunday or Monday and it has resident managers so I don't know why the office would be closed due to staffing issues. After waiting awhile I decided to start calling other storage units in the area and found another place that was five dollars more a month and was driveup which I wanted compared to inside. Since I'm moving from another self storage I'm familiar with the operation and the office should have been open and to get a phone call returned over an hour later is not acceptable especially when I had a reservation and they should have known I'd be coming in since the office is closed Sunday and Monday. They have good pricing but are lacking in customer service in my opinion. read more

Absolutely the worst, most unprofessional manager I have ever dealt with. I showed up with a truck full of stuff to store on the date my PAID contract started and there was a lock on the unit and office closed for the next 2 days. Showed up on the 3rd day of the contract and the manager seemed irritated we were there before we even spoke.. He wouldn't let us in the office in 40 degree weather and said it's not his problem when I told him I would like a refund for those 2 days of storage we paid for and couldn't move in. He said only corporate can do refunds and offered no way to contact them or even contact them for us.. He argued with me saying he was "off" the past 2 days and was not responsible for my problem. I told him he was not a good manager and is unwilling to help his customer. He literally walked into the office, turning his back with no resolution and locked the door and stopped answering the phone. I was forced to dispute the charge with my bank. DO NOT RENT STORAGE FROM THEM. THEY ARE CHEAP BUT YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!! read more
