Amenity wise this place is great. The front gate works really well and the facility is clean. One issue with using the facility was if there isn't movement for 5 minutes, the lights go completely off. This can be dangerous if you are in your unit organizing and moving heavy things. Initially we had a low promotional rate of about $70 for a month. Then the rate returned to the normal rate of $149/month. All was good for a little more than half a year until they decided to do a rate hike. A $100 rate hike, with a small 30 day notice. On top of that they don't make it easy to cancel. The app doesn't have a number to call. You have to send an email and there isn't an option to cancel there, only a contact us form. The letter about the hike in price states rising facility costs and current rental market conditions along with other factors. I highly doubt a 67% increase is warranted given the stated reasons. read more

Terrible customer service. It's leaving a nasty taste in my mouth and making arrangements to get ready to leave by end of month. Asked for help several times and they run you in circles with no urgency themselves to be informed and guide. Ridiculous. Better off somewhere else. It's an extremely greedy company. Queue those in reviews saying tons of things can't get waived? Yeah your customer service isn't good at all to accept things like that. They're not for the customer, neither the workers or company. So many better storages!! I only chose those because it was near me but i have 4 others near me too and have referrals from others to back up how flexible they are so i mean.... I had a really great experience with the difficult and annoying job of self storage at this facility. In large part this has been due to Karen, the very excellent manager of the facility that makes the whole process a breeze. She worked with me through each step of the process and made it feel like I had a 5 star, hassle-free, professional experience. The facility was also clean and felt very safe. Elevators were large enough to make the move easy with bays that abutted the move area. My unit was as described and worked well for my needs. Overall, facility 5/5, exactly what I needed. Staff/manager (Karen) 1000/5, great experience, wonderful customer service, lovely person. Would likely use them again when I need storage. read more

This review is for closing account with West Coast Storage. We were long term customers, and closing our storage after several years, we had no complaints as such. Robin, at the front desk, was very helpful and prompt during my interaction with him. It took all of 5 minutes to close it. I wish they could've waived the 30 days notice period for me, unfortunately they couldn't and I had to pay an extra month, even though we had already cleared out. Robin made the closing process very easy. There were some steps which I couldn't follow , and he took responsibility for those and sorted things out. Very happy with the experience. read more

In June, we paid $229 for a large unit the first month. Was supposed to only go up $100 more after the 30-day promo. However, we were charged $429 after the promo period (July), disputed it, got turned down stating it showed this in the contract (it does not), then randomly jacked up to $499 after. We also got charged an additional $24 for insurance despite stating we had our own with proof, but they ignored us and billed it anyways. We put in our 30-day notice on August 1st, left the unit empty and clean on August 28th, and called to inform of our leave. The lady there ASSURED us our account would be closed. Still got billed another $499 + insurance AFTER we gave our 30-day notice and left. -- We called to dispute, but they wouldn't pick up the phone (left several messages)! Had to open a dispute with our credit card company of which we got refunded (via the cc, not the storage). No one answers the phone when we call, never replies to their voicemail, we get pushed around, and is charged double than what is advertised and agreed upon. Don't do business with this location! Very unprofessional! Scam at best! read more

West Coast Self Storage has mice inside the storage rooms. Owners will leave traps all over the place and they won't tell you. They will also expect you to clean even though it should be there responsibility. Mice will leave all your things smelling bad and they will crap all over. I had to throw away expensive furniture and they will not pay for damages. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place. Somehow I ended up paying more for my storage unit. You must give 30 day notice unless you want to pay for an extra month. Also, when you call the office no one answers the phone. If you like mice and mice crap all over your personal things, this is the place for you. See attached picture. Please see the updated pictures attached. Excellent overall experience! I booked a reservation online and within five minutes a representation called me to confirm my details and help with any questions I had. When I arrived at the location the guy in the front office was friendly and very helpful. The units are clean and everything looks secure. I needed to go back the next day to upgrade to a larger unit and the process was quick and painless. West Coast Self-Storage was the easiest and most enjoyable experience of my moving weekend. read more

We rented uhaul to pick up at this location during office hour today (9/24/2022, Saturday @10AM) and waited outside more than 30 min with no one in the office (locked door and lights off) while we worked to reschedule uhaul. Total waste of my time and gas money. read more

They are the worst. They don't accept partial payments saying it is a legal concern and then when you try and call you can't always get a hold of people. I am guessing since Covid that these people are taking advantage of people who are suffering the most. I would use a different storage facility for sure! I've been with this storage for about a year now. The place is very clean and always cool inside the building. I was worried that I would see spiders or bugs, but definitely looks like they take good care of this place. Weekends can get a little busy, and people are rude and either hog all the carts or are ready to fight for them. I've only had an issue once, but I was too busy to finish moving that I didn't care. Downside is there are no stairs or at least I have t been able to find them. So on busy days the elevator gets packed and using the elevator starts to become a hassle. Would be nice to jump in the stairs. Also, a little pricey, but it's ok I guess. read more

I have been looking at various storage places to store my items for some time. As an informed customer, I did market research and got quotations from a few storage places. I finally decided to proceed with the West Coast Self-Storage Santa Clara because of my interaction with the staff members, Mr. Omar and Ms. Jacqueline. Mr. Omar took the time to give me a tour and showed me different size units to give me an idea of what to expect as someone who will be using a public storage for the first time. Ms. Jacqueline walked me through the key aspects of the lease contract and patiently answered my questions. Both persons went to lengths to help me find a storage unit that would meet my time frame, storage needs, and budget. I just booked the unit, and have yet to use the storage. I hope that the rest of the experience goes smoothly. Depending on that, I may come back and edit this review. read more

What a disaster. First off: don't believe their ads there is no free month. This is classic bait and switch scams - I was charged $277 for 11 days in a 10 x 20. What is worse was when I signed the contract their employee told me it was going to be $133 a month as she was going to give me 50% off since I pointed out I was not getting the free month that they had advertised. Now after paying nearly 300 for 11 days they want another $255, and they are still charging me for a unit that was too small and I never used! I was told directly that they had refunded me $111 to my bank account and 11 days later no amount has been credited to my bank. Now I have called and told them they can either refund me the money that was overcharged from checking account or they can meet me again in small claims court. Alena and the general store manager (I forgot her name) were the BEST! They were caring and I felt it was genuine. I've been in the Bay Area since 11/2021 and this is was by far the best service I've received in the area. In addition the storage unit is one of the cleanest I've seen. Security is top tier. Another update: the owner's reply below is a lie. They haven't given me any extra 2 months off Update: These people are bigger frauds than I thought. 3 months in, they contact me to tell me - "Your price has now been doubled, since what we gave you initially was a discounted price. We have been adding the actual doubled price to your receipts that you get in email". Their employee Greg tells me he remembers our entire conversation from 3 months ago and that he explained the pricing to me. His manager Anna tells me that it was actually their "Internet team" that called me right after I made the online reservation to explain the pricing to me. And at the site, their employee Greg told me we don't even see your online reservation, we don't think it exists. The regional manager then agrees to give me a call. The regional manager then doesn't give me a call and reports through Anna that there is nothing he can do about it. Hahaha, I guess they all forgot to sync up before giving me these conflicting answers. Rather than operate honestly, they come with a bunch of lies to report higher numbers for themselves. That's what this place is. Now I see similar reviews from several other people about their pricing fraud. SpareFoot gave me a confirmed reservation for West Coast Self-storage Santa Clara for $74/month. And these guys didn't even respect that reservation. Rather than reaching out to Sparefoot and respecting that reservation, they made me go through the whole process again and charged me $84/month for the same unit. Then the insurance. While every storage in all of bay area accepts home insurance or renter's insurance, they shove their own $11/month insurance down your throat. Just scamming people with every stupid way to take your money. What is the person going to do when they are already at your facility with a truck full of stuff that they can't take anywhere else on short notice. read more

I had my credit card compromised due to fraud activity and was forced to have it replaced. The bank indicated that it would take 7-10 days to receive the new card since it was coming from the east coast. I have been using this service for over 2 years. Joseph said that they "understood" and would waive the late fee due to my business with them over the years. Guess what? Not only did I get billed a $57 late fee but they also sent me a pre-lien letter. So much for keeping their word! Update June 4: Although Millie was kind enough to respond on Yelp to my less-than-stellar experience with her location--to add fuel to the fire, I just received a letter stating that my unit fees would increase $100 on July 1. Take THAT you complaining customer! :-( read more

I needed a place to store my teacher stuff and the other orange storage place down the street was closed. Went here instead (their lost!). Anne helped me out and she was nice and answered all my questions. I liked the fact that she was not aggressive in trying to get me to sell me what I didn't ask for. She had me in and running quickly with no problems. She even prorated the price and everything. The place is clean, seems secure, and so far I'm liking it. Hopefully once I get my new classroom and move my stuff out it'll be a smooth transition. If that's the case, I am definitely coming back here again. read more

I discovered West Coast Self-Storage Santa Clara on Yelp and decided to call them based on positive customer feedback & reviews. Anna returned my call promptly! Anna was very professional and showed me the units that I was interested in. I was impressed with the cleanliness of the facility, the on-site security, and Anna's competency & efficiency in expediting the storage rental process. The manager, Chase, provided excellent customer service as well and followed-up on the rental. This newer storage facility is in a safe location that is easy to access from either 101 or Central Expressway. Also you can rent a Uhaul cargo van or truck directly on site which makes moving very convenient, but you will want to MAKE ADVANCE RESERVATIONS. The office can make arrangements for you. read more

Arturo was great. He helped me right away when I walked in and had some questions. Price was competitive for what I was looking at spending. The unit and building was clean and well maintained. Took about 15 Minutes for paperwork and then a quick tour to show me how to use the gate, elevator and get to my unit. I checked all over and was scared off from other storage spaces by reading about filth, or questionable pricing policies or them jacking up the rent.....I visited West Coast SS and Millie was simply awesome....She showed my the (environmentally-controlled) indoor part of the facility...It was very clean. The lockers are unbreakinable (because the locks are flush with the door).....So far, I am VERY pleased......CHECK THIS PLACE OUT after comparing where you MIGHT go, and I bet you'll take this place over the one you've checked out first! read more

Started off great - friendly, warm staff (although some weren't the brightest crayons in the box), but now, barely one year into renting with them, the monthly rent has gone from $104.00, to $114.00, to $125.00, and next month will be $135.00. I rarely give a five star review. And admittedly, it's probably emotionally given because of the absolute debacle that served as the counter-point to my experience. I had been a customer of All-Safe Storage since about 2011, but when Public Storage took over, we decided to start shopping for a new storage company. I had been in to West Coast and spoken with a nice guy before yesterday, when I decided to move out same day. You can read about the terrible experience with PS in another Yelp, so I won't bother with it here. Suffice it to say that sometimes the lower limits of customer service intersect squarely with incompetent morons who couldn't help someone out of a paper bag. This, sadly, happened to me yesterday at PS. It solidified my resolve to stop handing them my money. I went immediately to West Coast, based on the prior contact I had had with Hugo, and the walk-through of the property. When I arrived, Millie, the manager, was coming back to the office, and smiled at me and said hello even before I could get out of my car. She said she'd be right there to help me. When I walked in, I saw a couple of middle-aged guys with friendly faces, who also offered to help me. Millie came in just then and took over. I explained my problem, and of course she was interested, but still took the time to show me some units and give me a brief tour of the property again. I had forgotten Hugo's name, but she politely corrected me without making me feel too dumb. I felt good about doing business with her - she listened to my issues, and offered solutions, and didn't rush me. So I went with West Coast then and there. I needed a truck, and they are also a U-Haul dealer, so an hour or two later, I had a 14-footer at my disposal, and with my nephew in tow, we went and moved all the stuff out of the PS nightmare and into West Coast. Like I said, I'm sure that West Coast is above-average for customer service, but they treated me like I was their only customer every time I was in the lobby. Turns out the two other gentlemen were regional guys, and were there to help Millie get new college kids squared away. It seems great to me that the company supports its staff and customers in this way. They were both really friendly guys, too, and by the end of the day, I was greatly cheered up by the group of folks. What a juxtaposition of service between the two storage companies, a brief minute or two apart. I just can't say enough about these people. I'm even a little sad that we're still planning to reduce our junk to the point where we won't need storage anymore. read more

The company I work for was contracted to do some HVAC work for the Santa Clara location. Kelly and her assistant were a wonderful help. Even when they had customers, they were very polite and made sure nobody waited too long. They helped me get in and out of the building with ease. Anyone who has done commercial work knows getting help from the staff can be difficult. I have the say the facility is top rate, very clean, and very well maintained. He took his time to explain what the charges would be and was very thorough to explain the rules on renting a truck/ Going over the existing condition of the truck. The information about the Hours of operation need to be corrected; access to storage spaces is available up to 10 PM on all days of the week. "6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. 365 Days A Year" This storage space facility is the best. It is gated, controlled, highly secure if not the most secure but here is how they compare to other like storage facilities: 1) They smell great - or neutral. There is no chemical or old furniture smell in the facility like many others I have rented. 2) They are spotless and sootless, unlike some of the high tech storage spaces I have rented. 3) They have good and completely functional equipment (dollies) which ensures getting in and out of the facility quickly. 4) The lighting is spectacular, and enables you to see your possessions easily, find what you need, grab them, or store new things, and leave quickly. 5) The management is friendly, responsive, and intelligent. 6) They cost less than even the mid-range high tech storage facilities near by. In conclusion, this is a great place to store things; it feels good and is upbeat instead of down, and chaotic. My possessions are easy to get to and I don't fear them getting sooty or smelly as they did in another storage facility. The parking is easy. read more

Chase is horribly rude and just non-sensical. Can't believe he is the manager! We reserved a truck for 5:45, get there at 5:47. The door was locked, couldn't find anyone. Called, left a message. Got a call back a couple minutes later from Chase saying that he waited until 5:45, and then went upstairs and he's "busy doing something". We practically had to beg for him to come back down to give us the truck we reserved. The place closes at 6, apparently they stop serving customers whenever they feel like it, though. read more
