Problems from installation...on. No communication. Company took many months to complete installation after re-scheduling several times. I was promised to be put on the installation calendar month after month. Employee was rude to my mother. Our system went offline because they didn't install something correctly. We were not informed and received a huge bill. Del Sol did re-imburse us for 1 month's bill. Was promised by the owner he would look at our system for issues, then didn't show up as scheduled. I recently had a leak in my pool solar system. I called the office to schedule a service call. Once again, I was told someone would return the call and get me on the calendar. It's been 7 weeks and no return call. Go figure! I would NOT recommend! read more

Our Story: We got our panels installed in Nov 2022. We got quotes from two other companies and looked online to a solar energy brokerage for more quotes. We got a recommendation for Del Sol from one of our friends that was happy with their process and service. We reached out to Elvin and he was able to send us over a proposal very quickly based on whatever tool they used to see our roof. He provided two options for our roof, a 19 panel configuration and a 21 panel configuration. We decided to go with the 21 panel configuration for our roof and it estimated putting us at 98% of total output. After looking at the cost of the system, we didn't think we would be able to get it for a couple of years, but Del Sol offers multiple financing options. We decided to use the local credit union for financing. After we decided on the configuration and got the financing locked down, the turnaround time was approximately three weeks. Which was a whole lot faster than we would have anticipated. Installation took a total of two days with the city inspector coming out the second day. After the installation, paperwork has to be submitted to PG&E to be turned on, which took about 10 more days. Bird proofing for our panels was part of the package and it was done a few days after the final install. Our Conclusion: So we've had our panels for about four months and are extremely happy with them. The process went extremely fast. Supporting local reputable companies are very important to the wife and I, for us it definitely felt like the process was very streamlined to the point of being overwhelming. Using reputable local companies for our home improvements has definitely paid off in spades. Del Sol already installed panels in our neighborhood and knew exactly what our HOA required. The permits were pulled in a timely manner, and inspection was scheduled and concluded on the final day of the install. The major hiccup we had was we wanted to get our roof. Inspected prior to the install. The installation team was very professional, and courteous to us during the install and checked in with us every day with what to expect for that day. The final solar manual was delivered by Elvin and he went over everything in it, which also included the app used to track the performance of your system. Everything was laid out and explained as far as all the warranty information and what to do when the county sent you that "home-improvement" letter. I shared our whole story for people that are just looking into getting solar and wanted to know what they might expect. If you're a Brentwood local, and you decide to go with Del Sol, you won't be disappointed. The quote was very comparable to all the others we received. Elvin's service and knowledge was outstanding and the installers were professional and efficient. Also being able to use a local credit Union for financing was an additional plus for us. After getting quotes from the top three local companies we decided to go with Del Sol Energy. I dealt with Pete Jacoway for this project. When I initially reached out to him, he sent me the quote within a couple hours which was great. The part that wasn't so great was the fact that he didn't call us to go over the quote. I must say that the other two competitors went over the quote via zoom and also a scheduled telephone appointment. The reason we decided to go with Del Sol was the system size they were offering and the price. The other reason was the Enphase inverters vs the solar edge the other companies were offering. On the day of the install everything went well with the exception of when they were installing the pigeon proofing. I happened to stop by on my lunch break and the guy had the pigeon proof mesh covering my rain gutters. I asked him why he did that, he didn't seem to have an appropriate response. I told him that I didn't like the way it looks, it looked very tacky. He was apologetic and changed it to the way it should be. I was a bit shocked by the way they were going to initially leave it. The install was completed on 10/15 and we received our permit to operate on 10/22 from PG&E. We were told by one of the installers that Pete was going to reach out to us in the next week and go over the system and give us all the information pertaining to it. I reached out to them late October and I was told Pete would reach out. No one followed up and I kept having to email them about it. You would think that after a customer spends almost $30k you'd get good service. We were a bit disappointed in the end and worried that we won't be able to get any help should the system fail or any future problems arise. Aside from the customer service side, no big complaints as of yet. The system has been producing good energy so far. Overall a 3.5 star experience! read more

After researching 8 companies in the East Bay, I settled on Del Sol Energy. My decision unlike a lot of people wasn't based solely on price as you get what you pay for. I did extensive research on panels and heard all the sales pitches. Do you research for sure and know what panels you are getting and how they rate in the industry compared to others. I wanted high efficiency panels that don't degrade rapidly over 25 years. Pete came to my house, listened to my goals, analyzed my annual bills and provided information with zero pressure. My situation was unique as my neighbors trees block much of my roofs sun. Fortunately, I have a hill and went with a ground mount system with Enphase inverters and LG Ion Black on Black panels which look fantastic. All the permitting was all handled by Del Sol and they also paid for all the fees. After the install they provided a great binder that contained all the paperwork, permit, 25 year warranties from them on everything they put in and the 25 year warranties from LG and Enphase which don't really matter as Del Sol covers it all. The crew that came out was fantastic. Very nice guys and extremely hard workers. My systems is now cranking out power and I have been getting credits every day since install from PG&E which I know will change when winter hits but it's still nice cranking the AC all day and night when the heat hits and not having to worry about paying PG&E for it. Glad I used Del Sol and I would highly recommend them as a honest company who delivered exactly what they said they would and it's performing as stated. I have the monitoring app which shows me my daily output and consumption so you can confirm how your system is performing every 15 minutes if you want (down to each panel). 5 stars. read more

We researched three local solar companies and choose DelSol Energy. The price was fair and they used all American made products. Why the one star rating? DelSol Energy recommended using Ygrene. The loan will be attached to our taxes, no money out of pocket. The loan, I was told, would follow the taxes if the home was sold, Not True. It will have to be paid off before the sale. The cost of this solar system is costing much more using Ygrene. We should have used a home equity line of credit instead. read more

We had a great experience with Del Sol. Solar is a huge investment and was quite scary but Josh was very informative and available. My husband is in the construction business and is very familiar of things that can go wrong in the business but Josh was very thorough. Josh gained our trust. The sales person miscalculated which led to a Change order(very common in the field but not fun if you are on the receiving end)and Josh was very fair and handled the issue promptly. Now, to the install...Kyle and his crew are amazing! Seriously! They always showed up on the day/time as promised. They were very professional. They always cleaned up and never left our property looking like a mess. They worked hard. I haven't received my True up bill yet but very happy with our current PG&E bill. After my inverter went out this year (thankfully it was covered and Del Sol came out and fixed it in a timely matter) it seemed to have helped with my true up, I still have a bill but typically by now it would be almost double then what it is. Ps Josh you are correct we did allow the neighbors to plug into our system for the Christmas lights, that unfortunately only lasted for a week due to the city making us take our lights down. So to say that was the cause of the true up bill is quit a stretch especially since our bill is due in November (which is before Christmas ). Overall we are happy our true up isn't through the roof any more and we are still using the same amount of energy. read more

Our system went offline lasy year and we were not informed. When our true up bill came in November, as you can imagine, I about fainted because it was over $1,800.00! PG&E told us that our system wasn't collecting any energy for approximately 4 months during the winter last year. I have been calling Del Sol for weeks asking them to please fiind out why this happened. I have gone through our PGE bills with a fine tooth comb and I have discovered quite a few suspicious anomalies occurring with our system's energy collection so there is something happening but Del Sol has not responded to our request for assistance. We have had our system since 2016 and we never had any problems until now. We always had a credit left on our true up billl but not this year. We paid a lot of money for solar and we expected to be treated better than this if we encountered any problems. Shame on you Del Sol. read more

Your panels and the layout you drew up would not have worked. The layout and design you drew up were so off. It doesn't matter any longer because I have an amazing new system and new electrical panel.... it all worked out great. You were to busy to bother and thus my suggestion to you is you not take any job that is far from you. That seemed to be such a huge issue for you and the downfall of doing my job.... Your plans were off but all this was part of a $35,000 job... for that price, I expect service and attention to detail. Initially, I wanted to add a solar panel system with a battery system. The sales rep told me that I don't really need a battery system under the current PG&E NEM 2 agreement. The owner came out to personally walk the property, and I brought up that I wanted the battery system. He said since I am planning on getting the Ford Lightning, that It is really not necessary for me to get the battery system, and explain (like the sales rep) that under NEM 2 agreement with PG&E, I sell, and purchase power for pretty much the same cost. It is RARE to find a company that IS NOT trying to make a quick buck out of you. The owner also challenged me to research how often the power goes out. I found that on my block, I only lose power a few days a year, for a few hours at a time. Do I really want to spend 10k, and let's say 50's hours worth of power outage usage over 5 years? Additionally, I had my install on Monday, and Tuesday, then inspected by the city on Wednesday. PG&E had all the permits by Friday and I was online with PG&E Nem 2 Solar system on the same day. That is 5 days from the start of installation to being hooked up with PG&E (note that some cities require PG&E to inspect, state regulation states that systems of a certain size require PG&E inspection, AND many Solar companies use sub-contractors and as a result needs PG&E to inspect since they are not "properly permitted" with PG&E to install solar w/out a PG&E inspection. I had 20 panels installed with NO PG&E inspection required. There is a lot of mis-information regarding this, and multiple solar companies LYING to that a PG&E inspection is ALWAYS required...I DID NOT NEED/HAVE ONE). read more

We had Del Sol install out Solar in Mid December 2018 and they did a great job. We wanted out panels unseen from the curbside which made for a much more difficult installation We had 6 separate arrays! They also upgraded our electric service because of our 1979 original electric service was on its last leg. They even had a contractor come out and Birdproof our panels so pigeons would not become a future problem. We were walked (actually closer to crawled) through the entire process, financing was super easy and very happy with the overall product AND installation. Great experience all around. Laid out nice options, we made our selection, and installation was seamless. This was an upgrade of an existing system, adding capacity. Monitoring was all set up, they came back to resolve connection issues (on my end) to our wifi, and we're making powah! Would like to explicitly call out my wife's experience - she often deals with contractors and they often follow unfortunate trends of misogyny. Not so here, they treated her as the intelligent, self-sufficient person she is. Our sales rep, Pete Jacoway was on time for our appointment, had all the paperwork specific to our home with him, and he is very personable, NO pressure on sales! Installers were professional, no swearing, cleaned up at the end of each day and very courteous. The solar advisors keep stating .... i am sending the quote but never dead .. i got tied of it and asked them that i not interested in working with them but they keep emailing and texting me till 11 pm .. they even call their CUSTOMERS RUDE since i did not let them play their way IF YOU GUYS LIKE TO BE INSULTED call them ,... also their rates are 20% higher since they educate the customers .. they think that customers are stupid ... read more

After considering many companies online, and interviewing 5, I chose Del Sol for their honest, straightforward approach, ability to answer my detailed technical questions, and competitive pricing. The system was installed professionally and Del Sol went the extra mile to run conduit cleanly and paint it to match my home. Soon after installation, I began to notice some unexpected problems with my inverter, a key component of the system. When it became clear that it would take a very long time to resolve these problems with the inverter manufacturer, Del Sol stepped up and replaced the inverter with a system from a different manufacturer at their expense. We didn't take our Solar decision lightly - we met with three sales reps and received quotes from an additional 8 companies. Pete, the sales rep from Del Sol was attentive, direct, and made the entire process completely easy. We were more than pleased with the expedient service we received. The panels look great on our roof. The installers cleaned up after themselves and didn't leave a trace of mess behind. Del Sol came highly recommended from several people I know so I figured that it couldn't hurt to get a quote. After going over our energy bills and usage, we determined that we don't use enough electricity to warrant the cost of solar panels at this time. Some solar companies will still pressure people into a contract, even when it won't benefit them, simply to meet their quotas or sales goals. From my experience, Del Sol is not one of the high pressure companies and it seems as though they are a bit more experienced and professional than some other solar companies that relentlessly knock on doors relying on cold calls rather than referrals. I will check back with Del Sol if our energy needs change because they've already proven to be the kind of honest and trustworthy company I feel comfortable doing business with. read more

If I could put a negative in this survey I would. This company is so internet fixated that they DO NOT UNDERSTAND SOME FOLKS ARE NOT INTERNET SAVVY! They want EVERYTHING filled out on line. I have no clue how to do that from an iPad. Maybe a lap top could do it. When I got access to a printer. I printed their form & I filled out their form as best as I could. There was a number that they had to give me to finish filling in their form. I took a picture of the filled out form & got back that they only accept on line filled out forms! I also went to a fax store & faxed the form to them. I guess that they finally figured that they got their form, finally. It's now 12/10 & I still have very little to show or see from these folks. I have no idea if the system is producing or not & if it's just a fancy acrylic ornament on my roof!. It has a fancy silver plastic box on the side of my house also! I did have a solar array on my previous home (42 panels). I had none of the problems that I have had with this company. I only have 12 or 14 panels here. It was easier to change my PG&E account than the Del Sol folks.... I am on the DARK SIDE until they come & totally set up my system. Until then they are very very bad news!! read more

Once we met with Josh, we went over all the steps we needed to take to have the solar panels installed and completed our contract. Well, we had solar panels installed on our roof in within 2 weeks! The crew did such an awesome job and had us all set up and ready to go in 1 day! During our first year our PG&E monthly charges were between $10.00 and $20.00! We only had to pay $.24 for our annual NEM True Up statement from PG&E. (That is money you would owe annually for electricity if you go over or use more than the energy stored in your solar panels). Before solar panels we would easily rack up monthly charges ranging anywhere from $150.00 - $250.00 per month. The solar panels have saved us so much money and stress related to our monthly PG&E bills it's unbelievable! This was the best decision we made and we were lucky enough to have made this decision with Del Sol Energy. They made this purchase very comfortable and no pressure was ever put on us to purchase the solar panels. Josh did his presentation and patiently let us take time to decide if we wanted to pursue the installation, which we did and we could'nt be happier!
