Purchased a $51,800 system only to find out a year later that my system was severely undersized having to pay PG&E over $1000 at the True Up year end cost. We have solar on our roof and wanted battery backup so we called these people at Synergy, who are Tesla Dealers. They installed 2 Tesla PowerWall-3's for a cool $25,000. It took them weeks and they had never installed these devices before, and ran into numerous problems that required assistance from one guy who appeared to know what he was doing. They do not appear to be working properly. For instance our Ford EV trips the entire system and the system has to be booted back up. The power sold back is so low we are looking at a higher PG&E true up's than when we had no Power Walls. Synergy pointed the finger at Tesla, who said everything appears to be OK, but it really is not working and my PG&E bills show that. Synergy has taken no responsibility to help us diagnose what is happening and maybe it is because they have their money now so why bother with me? Without going into all the back and forth and very little help from Synergy, I will say that they simply stopped returning my phone calls or emails and are offering no more customer service in any way. These systems were put in 6 months ago and yet we know people with NO battery backup systems that pay nothing in true up's, so I ask myself why I wasted $25,000...unless this company does not know anything about the Model 3's and they were installed incorrectly. My only recourse now is to bring in a competent 3rd party company at my expense to look at the system. So the best I can say about Synergy is "buyer beware" and you have been warned. read more

Unprofessional and incompetent 3 calls to get help. Each time I get an unqualified and Insincere phone attendant who answered the call. First 2 calls, she gives shallow promises to give me a call back with a schedule for work On third call i make to them, she now gives an answer that it would take 3 weeks to estimate. Why not tell me that on the first call. What a joke I've done business with them before to install a Tesla wall charger. After this experience, never again. When we bought our home it already had an extremely small sunpower system installed. We reached out to learn what could be done to improve the situation, add a battery for off grid solar operation add emergency backup. Most companies couldn't be bothered to help us. Of the three willing to spare time to talk to us, Synergy provided the best experience up front. A great experience that continued throughout our business with them. The owner personally met with us, explained the value of the sunpower system, made no effort to deflect or diminish the reality that it wasn't the least expensive option, and could answer our technical questions about installation, operation and maintenance. We wanted a back up battery primarily to allow our solar to run off grid. This was the only company that didn't try to talk us out of that. The install was handled by a mix of direct and subcontractors but it was well managed and went smoothly. It was not without hiccups, but there were zero customer service issues. We are now producing right at our average use - they nailed the calculation for load. We have enjoyed backup or off grid solar several times now during local outages. We did also have one post install issue that took our battery offline over a weekend. The owner came and fixed it Monday evening no questions asked. I highly recommend. read more

UPDATE: Ed and I worked it out. He re-filed the PG&E application today. Apparently PG&E changed portals and our application was cancelled. _________________________________________________________________________ I do not recommend this business at all! This is the last straw. My solar battery was installed in early July. It has been 5 MONTHS and I still do not have Permission to Operate from PG&E. I have been texting Ed for MONTHS regarding when it will happen and he brushes me off everything "Oh let me find out", "Oh Im at a funeral and out of town". I texted him today "Oh let me find out". I got fed up and called PG&E MYSELF and found out there is NO application on file and NO filing number. Ed told me he filed. Well do you not then its weird that it has been MONTHS with no response from PG&E. PG&E told me it takes 5-10 days for PTO once the application is received. He dropped the ball on me time and time again. Very disappointed in the customer service. I also want to mention the first inspection, one of his guys was late and therefore missed the inspection with the City. So unprofessional. The inspection had to be rescheduled. I have been i touch with Synergy from Nov 2022 reporting that my Solar panels werent generating. They initally came and mentioned that i need to buy envoy to see the issue. I called them for a quote on a electric vehicle charger. They quoted me 1075 for installation within 10 ft of the main service panel or sub panel. The permit fees are separate from the quote and were listed at +-650 given what jurisdiction you're in. The inspection fee was quoted beginning at 275. I sent photos of where I wanted the charger installed on and where my main panel and sub panel are. I received a response the following day. Electric vehicle charger installations are weekends only which worked out fine for me. The electrician showed up about 9am and finished close to 11am. He was friendly and professional. Got a Tesla charger installation done in my garage today. It was done in a little over 2 hours, faster than I expected at a reasonable price ($780). There was a team of 2 for this job. I took care of the permit and scheduled the final inspection myself, which saved me $560. Permit was only $55. Found the building permit application online (pdf) at the city of Tracy website, filled out the form at home, printed it out and brought it with me to the address on the application. Permit was issued right away after paying. Quick and easy. Synergy 768 was listed on Tesla's website as an electrician in my area that can install the Tesla charger. Best to call for an appointment. When I used their website to enter my contact info, no one contacted me. After waiting many days, and no one contacted me, I decided to call. Spoke to Lala, who handled all communication with me. Needed photos of circuit breaker, installation location, and view of open garage from street before receiving proposal. 10 days later, job is done. They don't do charger installs on Thursdays and Fridays. Those days are reserved for solar panels installs. Would have been able to get the charger installed within 5 days of calling, but I was waiting for the charger that I ordered online to be delivered from Tesla via Fedex. Originally scheduled the install 5 days ago, but rescheduled it because of delay in receiving charger. Don't have my Tesla model 3 yet, but I'm looking forward to charging it when the car is ready. After a year I had to upgrade my system to an additional solar panels and I decided to get the SunPower SunVault Energy storage system to maximize my savings. The added benefit is I will always have reserve power just in case of an outage. The other added feature I like about the SunPower SunVault systems is the safer Lithium Iron Phosphate chemistry and the more powerful 6KW inverter. Spoke to Ed for the quote of my Tesla wall connector install. Explained to him that this would be the 2nd install and wanted to upgrade the dedicated circuit. Ed came back with a competitive price with others and I booked synergy 768 for next day. Anthony came promptly the next day. He explained what he was going to do and was courteous, professional and meticulous. He uninstalled the original wiring which wasn't to code and installed code compliant conduit. Started on the outside where I indicated I needed the wall connector installed in a lock box - no issue for him. Got everything ready and was almost done when he realized he was missing the critical shielded communication cable. He checked local stores to no avail. The install has to be delayed. Both Ed and Anthony committed to completion upon delivery of the communication cable. 1 week later Anthony came back and completed the job. He stayed late to ensure the install was quality and I was happy. He didn't leave until I was satisfied. They easily spent a day and to ensure an excellent install that was to code. After reviewing and researching a few Tesla recommended electricians for the Tesla Wall Connector setup, I went with Synergy as they had responded to my initial request in a reasonable time and also had the lowest quote for the project. After a few emails back and forth with Jaime about my needs, the position of the connector within garage, blue prints of the garage, panel locations etc., he explained to me the best way to go about. He mentioned that it would be best to pull my own permit from the city to get the project started. Getting the initial permit from the City of San Ramon was a breeze. The installation date/time was setup, Anthony and his colleague came by well before the time, did an excellent job installing the wall connector. Made sure that the connector was working well by plugging in my Tesla. I had setup the City inspection to get the permit signed off. However, the inspector had provided some "corrections" needed. By this time, I had already been using the connector for about 10 days now without any hiccups. Turns out these "corrections" was to add an AC Disconnect with Lock box to be in the line of sight of the connector since my connector is tied into the main PG&E panel on the outside wall of the Garage. Ed and his team tried working with the City since this is not a common requirement that they had seen. But every city is different. The back and forth between Synergy, City and me took a few weeks. Finally Ed suggested that they would honor the City recommended corrections and fix what is necessary. Anthony came out on a Friday morning, added the AC disconnect with lock box, stayed until the City inspector showed up and made sure the inspector was satisfied with the work and that it was to code. Permit signed and approved! I highly recommend Synergy for their excellent work, customer-centric service and professionalism.
