If you try to make an appointment online by clicking their emails that remind you to, they say they'll call you and they never do. The only way to do it is to call them. It's weird that they give you the option to get a call back but never do. The front desk doesn't really make eye contact when you go, and are a bit cold. I guess that's fine, but it is a stark contrast to the friendliness of the doctors and such. Overall, I would recommend.

Such as highly recommending additional tests just to be safe. And pushing for separate computer glasses without really providing an understanding of why they could be optional. Additionally, I suffer from the occasional red eye due to dry tear ducts and long hours in front of a computer due to work. To remedy this, I use a lubricating eye drop which the optometrist claimed I shouldn't use as it supposedly had preservatives. Instead, she tried to push a costly eyedrop brand they carried in-house. This claim however that my over-the-counter eyedrops contained preservatives was definitely false. As the bottles clearly state that they are preservative free. And was recommended to me by an ophthalmologist I had just seen last year. To add insult to injury, the salesperson who helped me to pick out new frames never disclosed to me additional discounts that VSP was offering for certain brands. I only wound up finding out about it after going home and seeing the various promotions through VSP's website for Solano EyeCare. When confronted about it when I went to pickup my new glasses, they stated that it was my responsibility to know what promotions my provider was offering. This is the only optometrist I've ever visited that wasn't aware of or otherwise disclosed additional discounts off specific brands at the time of sale. I understand the need to upsell. But everything about my experience at Solano EyeCare just felt dishonest and non-transparent.

So last weekend I came by to check out the possibilities of getting a new optometrist. So this review focuses on my appointment for today in which I met the wonderful and kind Dr. Jane Liao. I liked her very much. She's a Taiwanese lady that grew up in Brazil and somehow graduated from U.C. Berkeley's school of optometry. Dr. Jane strikes me as a very brilliant woman and also very cool. I needed to update my contact lenses and also update my optometrist since I now own a home in Albany next to the Pacific East Mall where Dr. Jane can be found at least once per week, generally on Saturdays. I have a follow up appointment for next Saturday. She gave me the latest technology in contacts, the Acuvue Oasis style. So my one paid appointment gets me a free set of contacts with a free follow up appointment next Saturday. I gave her $96 for the entire work up with two prescriptions: one for glasses and one for contacts. Upon careful examination, Dr. Jane determined that I have normal pressure in both eyes with some slight clouding of the left lens. Not too bad for a mid-60s client. My brother by this time had cataracts in both eyes. I apparently have worn sunglasses much more often and have a perfectly clear right lens, and a left lens that can still be resolved to 20/30. My brother was so happy with his cataract surgery, but I'll not be following that pathway for a little while yet. Dr. Jane is the mom of two small children and lives near San Jose. Once they are both in school, I'll likely have more appointment options as she'll visit this office more than once per week. For the time being, I'm very happy to have her within walking distance of my Albany Hill home on Saturdays. Thank goodness she's practicing so very close to me. For people who want to do things in Pacific East Mall on a Saturday afternoon, you must have patience in order to park in the lot. I recommend parking on the street just south of the Mall. Also don't go to Central Avenue to get back on the route 80/580 freeway, or you will be in a line of 30 or 40 cars having to wait through many green light cycles. Instead drive south on Pierce Street to Buchanan. Take a right at the light and enter the route 80/580 freeway with no hassles. As a resident of this street right next to the Mall, I always come home by exiting on Central Avenue and turning right on Central, then right again on Pierce Street. I leave home to get on the freeway by going down Pierce to Buchanan and then right to the freeway entrance. Very smooth if you go in this clockwise manner. The counterclockwise pattern causes slow frustration. Word to the wise.

I stopped going to this business after Dr. Samii suspected I might have cancer in my left eye. I had to seek a consultation with an ophthalmologist, who told me some optometrists like to use high tech equipment even though they don't know how to interpret the results. I did NOT have cancer.

I would put the experience I had in two categories - the experience with the optician which was 5…read morestars, and the fitting, quality and overall service experience, which was 1 star. To start off, the eye exam was probably the most informative and best I've ever had. I felt she was the most thorough optician I'd ever worked with and left feeling much more knowledgable about my eyes. The issues arose with everything else. Because at the time everyone was required to wear masks everywhere it honestly took a few months to realize how poorly my chosen glasses fit without a mask. Not very long after the lenses started developing an odd bubbling around the edges of the lenses, which only got worse each month. Because we're not local any longer, I decided just to replace them outright and re-ordered the same frame by email, making a special trip to pick them up. I put on the glasses, which should have been exactly the same (just no bubbling and tighter fitting), and let them know immediately there was something wrong with them. Historically at other offices, I've usually put in exactly the same frame/prescription order (once I decide on a frame I stick with it until they stop making it) and I've never had any issues with the replacement. Even with a new prescription, I've never had any major reactions. But these glasses were different, something visually was off. Everyone in the office told me they were exactly the same, they checked the prescription, it's the same. I try them on several times and continue to state they're not, there's something wrong with them. They convince me to keep them for an adjustment period. So I put them on and head home, and after getting back home and getting on my phone, I quickly get a really strong ocular migraine (it's been years since I had one) which results in an almost total loss of vision. I finally take off the new glasses, and switch back to my old ones, and poof - my migraine fades. My head still hurts and is incredibly sensitive, but I call them once my vision clears enough to dial. I state I'd like a refund and that there's something wrong with the glasses. They interrupt me, speak over me, and downplay the issue, telling me to keep trying. By the end of the phone call, everything I say has been ignored, so I agree to try them on again in a month when I'm out of school. The back of my head continues to hurt for about two days, so I'm very hesitant to try again. Fast forward to a month later, I try again, and headache. So I email them that I'd like to mail the glasses back, because (as I'd explained to them over the phone) it would cost me half of what a new pair would cost just to Uber out to see them. Again, they ignore my request and ask that I come in. I'm not sure why, after interrupting and gaslighting me, they think I would come back. The fact that they ignored my very clear "something is wrong" and denied there was any issue? Although I had a good experience with the optician, there is absolutely no way I would return to Your Two Eyes Optometry. I later scheduled in an appointment with another optician and purchased another set of glasses (with a prescription change) that I paid for out of pocket. When I tried them on they seemed blurry in the right eye. When I relayed this to the front desk, they tested where my pupils landed and found they hit too high on the lenses. Instead of being told to take them home and "get used to them", they tested them, discovered the issue, returned them, and sent away for a fix. I really can't stress enough how problematic the service at Your Two Eyes since was. Especially since once I received my new pair from the different optician, I've had no issues at all while wearing them. No headache, no migraine, nothing. It's my opinion that both sets of glasses from Your Two Eyes were defective as the old pair I'd been wearing? After switching to my new glasses I accidentally left them next to the shower overnight and the next day the transitional lenses film had peeled off entirely from the lenses! I've never seen anything like it before in my life. The fact that I had major issues with both sets of glasses, when I've never had any type of issues with my glasses before leads me to the opinion there is likely a problem with their source's manufacturing practices. So between that and the service, as much as I liked the optician, I can't recommend in good conscience getting glasses from Your Two Eyes Optometry.
