    Concrete coffee table

Great customer service for online pick up order of a concrete coffee table. Patient staff and very professional. Doesn't hurt that the store smells lovely.

    They sent the wrong leg

An update to my review of the harmony chaise sectional I purchased back in August. The issue is ongoing and still not resolved. After walking into the store to talk to someone in person about my sofa issues, their first comment was, "Oh, you should've never ordered from online; we should've ordered it for you in store." I was told by the lady in the store that I had to order online. Apparently, now they've resorted to gaslighting their customers to say it's my fault for ordering online. My sofa has been missing a leg since the day of delivery. Multiple attempts to get a replacement leg (3 and counting) have always ended with something wrong--the first two were improperly packaged and arrived damaged. Since walking into the store to make my complaint in-person, they've "opened a case" to help me resolve this issue and make sure the new leg is delivered properly and undamaged. Just a heads up, their case numbers mean nothing. Finally after another month, the 3rd replacement leg arrived, and this time it was properly packaged and not damaged. However, it was the wrong leg! (See pictures) I called into the store just now, and they're going to schedule and send one of their "furniture medics" to "take a look." The manager on the phone rudely hung up after the conversation. My advice is to stay away from this company. It's not worth the hassle.

The bad: West Elm has very limited quantity available in their brick & mortar locations. This location is more of a showroom. If you see something you like, you have to order online and pay shipping. The good: The staff are super helpful and friendly but they will most likely have to order the item you want online. It is nice to be able to see things in person to measure, view the texture, color, etc. Quality: I have purchased furniture from them in the past and have no complaints with the quality. Their prices can be steep but I do think it's worth it (for the most part). I hope they don't go 100% online and just make some tweaks to improve the overall customer experience. There is no replacement for a human touch and the ability to see and touch items in person.

    Lovely decorations for the table.

Located in Pike and Rose, West Elm is a new addition to the furniture stores in the Maryland area. A lovely showroom filled with sofas, dining tables, chairs, lamps, and throws. You can also find holiday decorations and accent pieces to decorate your home. The salespeople are courteous and helpful. They helped my friend find a piece of furniture that she found online, but didn't see in the store. The showroom is beautifully decorated and has so many items to choose from. I especially liked the fur blankets that decorate the sofa and the decorative pillows. Prices are on point and they have something for everyone.

So happy that West Elm opened up in Pike and Rose. It's conveniently across a 2 hour-free parking lot and a garage for those who reside in the area. It's a fairly large store and everything is well furnished and displayed for the public. You have a ton of options in terms of home decor with contemporary, modern, rustic, bohemian, southern, etc. The staff here are very friendly and helpful. They'll take the time out to assist you if you're looking for something in particular or having a difficult time deciding between products, colors and textures or simply if you're having a hard time figuring out where you want these furnishings in your home. I definitely don't agree with the current 2.5 star rating displayed on Yelp. I think this West Elm is truly worth checking out if you're in the area and need help with home decor.

These are lots of nice choices in this shop. I like the beds, desks, planters, lighting, and other accessories. I am waiting for the next sales event. The salesperson was friendly and spoke to us at length about some of the pieces in the store. Worth a visit.

One of large boxes dropped by my door, had no idea it was coming this way. Hardly appropriate for a chair that costs $999!!

I was eye to eye with at least 6 employees and NONE of them spoke, offered assistance, or seemed to care about me being an actual paying customer. I guess discussing their happy hour plans was more important than assisting the customers. After I grabbed the items I wanted, I got in line. I saw that register one was open and didn't have any customers, so I proceeded to it. Instead of letting me know she wasn't open, I had to ask and the cashier said, "we are open, not ready for you yet." Rude and should've been handled much better, but whatever. I then head back to the line but another line opened up. As soon as I approach, the cashier said, "no, she's next!" Talking about the woman behind me. I said, "No! I'm next. I just went to register one and they're not open!" She apologized and said she thought I came the wrong way into the line. Now, why would I do that? I can clearly see where the line starts and ends and I clearly understand the concept of a line! That interaction was the icing on the cake. I won't be returning to this location. Awesome hand lotions, hair perfumes, Turkish towels (I got a great grape [okay, just plain purple] and pink one that's got teal on the other side -- just beautiful and so soft, ooh, what luxury! Turkish towels are awesome because they take up less space and dry far more quickly than other, thicker towels, so of course they end up both smelling much better and being a lot more hygienic. The orange-scented hand lotion is super-luxe, too, with a rich creamy feel and excellent scent. I got the amber hair perfume. The rugs are really nice, with just enough texture balanced together with softness and sturdiness all together in one piece -- and there is an amazing selection of different colours of these area rugs available, all rolled up nicely in a cool basket. Speaking of baskets, they've got them! The baskets have a real beachy vibe and would be perfect for a day (or a week, or more!) at the beach. They're real sturdy and stand up well on their own, unlike some other floppier baskets or of course beach bags out there .... The baskets are also really good for shopping, too. There are cookbooks, fun cooking and cleaning supplies such as the never-before-seen-by-me ravioli-shaped sponges and oh-so-many things to explore, I wouldn't want to ruin it for you by telling you more! The person I encountered was super-helpful, friendly, nice, accommodating, etc. The parking is plentiful (At least it was when I was there.), and if you like pretty, flowery things, there is also a lovely gardening center just steps away ... plus lots of other stuff nearby to explore in Kensington! Very glad I stopped by! Only thing is: it's closed on Mondays. Oh, and I love the name, too! Olive & Loom -- even the name has texture and beauty in it .... A very 'Yay' type of find, indeed! While I was about it, I'd pick up some global snacks. It had been years, but yesterday, since I was in the area, I decided pop in. The store focus seems to have shifted to foodie treats. I scooped up a box of British brownie mix made with Cadbury chocolate and a jar of Madras curry powder made with spices from Cape Town. I could have bought many more items, believe me, but I've been on an eating tear lately, so I held back. I was sad to see the home furnishings section much scaled back and more conventional than back in the day. But still, World Market remains a foodie delight!

Last week we went and grabbed some things off of clearance. 2 cushions, only one had the original price tag and the other had the WM price tag. I only noticed the original one & said hey that's not 50% off of the price. The associate showed me the other cushion with now the marked up price tag from WM & said "oh we had to increase the prices for inflation" and never honored the original price tag on the other pillow... then she marked me wrong for yet another item for the price it was marked before the final one. I showed her the other price tag on the other side saying "look you guys marked it as such" for the final price. She gave me attitude and said "oh I need to speak to the manager to see if she can honor it". She gave me the price without my reward coupons but I was so tired of her nonsense I wasn't fighting her over a couple of dollars. I didn't want to make a scene but it's honestly absurd that they can't even honor their OWN MARKED PRICES. They were giving me attitude for their negligence & honestly, shady business practices. Another time, I went once to do a store pickup. It wasn't ready for 3 days & I finally just went to the store because we were in the area & don't live nearby enough to just wait around and I needed the items. The person gave me so much attitude about how I shouldn't come in without notification. It wasn't a holiday or anything, just a random spring day. But I shook it off as oh maybe she's having a bad day. They have cute stuff but for the price & the horrible CS, I can easily see this being the next store to go out of business. "Inflation" is affecting everyone but don't go marking up items & then expecting us not to say anything when you pull things like this. We most likely won't be returning or just order online to avoid this.

I wanted to continue supporting it for that reason and for its sense of community, but my experiences have been consistently disappointing. Yesterday was my final straw. I am new to sewing and come in seeking guidance on fabric selection and product education, yet nearly every visit is met with dismissive or rude customer service. The older representatives in particular often do not greet me and respond reluctantly or faintly when I ask for assistance. Help is provided, but it often feels like an inconvenience unless they are in the mood. Yesterday, when I asked a representative at the fabric counter for help understanding a product, she was short-tempered and instead told me they were closing at 5:15 p.m., despite the website listing a 7:30 p.m. closing time. The interaction felt rushed, dismissive, and disrespectful. At checkout, I asked for a bag for several small tools and fabric. The cashier said they were running low, and etc and tossed the bag at me. This type of behavior has happened on multiple visits and consistently dampens the experience. I truly wanted to like this store, but the repeated lack of basic courtesy--especially toward newer customers--has made me unwilling to return. I hope management takes these ongoing customer service issues seriously.
