Major disappointment! After being a loyal client of West End Animal Clinic for over 5.5 years, I am deeply saddened and disappointed by the lack of compassion shown during a medical crisis. I arrived at 5:55 PM, just minutes before the clinic's posted 6:00 PM closing time, with my 18-year-old dog who had taken a sudden and severe downturn. During his afternoon walk, he collapsed in my driveway and began shallow breathing. I rushed him to the clinic in distress. The receptionist mouthed through the door that they were closed and did not allow me inside, despite the clearly posted hours. I sat outside in tears, holding my dog. I am grateful to Alex, the veterinary technician, who came to the door, listened to my dog's breathing, checked his mouth, and advised me to go to an emergency hospital. However, I was told the veterinarian was already gone for the day. I was handed a piece of paper listing emergency hospitals without addresses, leaving me to frantically search in my car to determine which location was closest while my dog continued to suffer. During this time, the side door opened and Dr. Russo was exiting the building clearly unaware that I was still there. She did not approach my car, check on my dog, or offer assistance. The lack of compassion and urgency in this moment was devastating. After years of bringing three dogs to this clinic and spending thousands of dollars, I expected at least basic humanity during a crisis. The end result: I drove over an hour to an emergency hospital. My dog was euthanized within 30 minutes of arrival. This experience has permanently broken my trust. When a medical emergency occurs, especially at the end of a beloved pet's life, compassion should not stop at quitting time. I will never return to this clinic. read more

Went there to get my dog spayed and they tried to get me to get extra shots she didn't need, which is fine. But the pricing is insane and aren't very helpful with payment. So I found someone else and they told me they couldn't give my deposit back after seeing them and not wanting to continue with their services. They claimed they charged me for my deposit because they were busy and it's policy but there was no one else there when I went in and they did not do anything for me. I'm not sure who is saying this place is good but it's overpriced and they didn't do anything and still charged me $50. read more

Came here with my almost 12 year old Golden Retriever who has had some chronic ear infections almost his whole life. The vet listened to my mom's concerns and came up with a great treatment plan. His previous vet just kind of brushed off the issue so we were much happier here. All of the staff were very kind and we were in and out fairly quickly. Areas were clean and they were practicing great social distancing. They were able to do some laser treatment which should yield some nice result and gave us a few medications. $400+ for goop in my dogs ears. $700 for bloodwork to get a refill on seizure meds. Audacity to schedule a follow up and charge for it after the 400+ visit. I told the assistant when I waited 40 min before the Dr came in that I wasn't paying for a follow up and would leave. He said he would speak to the Dr and then came back with the Dr and we had no conversation about a charge or I would have walked out then. I did however walk out after the appt and Got a nasty call and email stating they wouldn't see us any longer unless we paid more money and that we were told how much. Lies!! I told them I wasn't paying anymore and they could have told me to leave them, I would have as the follow up wasn't necessary. Kind woman, friendly and they help my Bear (not a Bear Bear but a dog so relax I'm not crazy) that's afraid of everything So if he pees on your leg while getting a nail trim and you still take him in I'm Happy They do care and have open appt that you don't have to wait for 3 months. read more

We were referred to Dr. Russo at West End Animal Clinic for our 5 year old rescue who was in need of some pretty serious oral surgery. Our Sadie did great. Three times is the charm for our gal Sadie who is now 7 years old. Last year Sadie had her eyes repaired due to her wrinkles. Then 7 weeks ago she had her hip repaired. She is now back to her walks and good on all fours. In such a short time, she has done so well. However, as responsible dog owner, I had to keep up my end of the bargain, to religiously learn and continue daily physio to her leg until she was walking well again. Dr. Russo and the entire team at West End Animal Care are amazing!! Both of my cats required extensive dental work, and we felt safe in Dr. Russo's hands. She is extremely knowledgeable about issues with the teeth and is equipped with the latest technology. One of my cats, Mickey, is FIV-positive, so his healing process took a bit longer than normal. Dr. Russo and her team exhausted every possible resource to make sure he healed properly & pain free, including acupuncture therapy and laser therapy. They also called to check in on him every couple of days. You could tell they cared about his progress just as much as we did! If I lived closer, I would make Dr. Russo my primary vet, but for now I will always come here for any major surgical work that is needed. Can't thank you all enough!! read more

If I could rate it zero stars I would 100%! I had a beautiful bunny named luna and she suffered more hours because of this incident. So what happened was that I, thirteen called this place from a genuine heart because my bunny was literally dying! All I got was pure rudeness. The receptionist gave me 2 phone numbers of other clinics which didn't help at all because they couldn't help us. Then this place couldn't help us because we had an exotic animal. That was a little confusing because my family and I brought our other bunny who had passed a while ago and we thought they did above and beyond. We were wrong. We came in with our dying bunny and we were greeted with a nice receptionist and we were explaining the situation when another lady came out heard the situation and looked at me frustrated. This was the lady I spoke with on the phone. She raised her tone with me and said "didn't I give you the number?! I told you we couldn't help you" if I could tell you the degrading tone It's disgusting. I would never leave a review like this but my mom even had to step in because the disrespectful tone. All for in the end they couldn't help us not because I had an exotic animal but because their doctor wasn't in. All this and they didn't even have the slightest bit of empathy for my dying bunny. read more

What a great experience, the entire staff was wonderful and accomodating. Starting with the front desk ladies being able to fit us in to bring our cat on a Saturday morning to the nurse and doctor both if which examined him to make sure we understood the treatment for his condition. Clean reception area and nice staff. However, i had called in advanced to see if they could do a checkup and fecal test on my bearded dragon and said yes. As soon as i get there all they do is weigh her on an incorrect scale so her weight was off, and told me "sorry we dont do exotics i can refer you to someone else". I was pissed because i had to pay 80 dollars just to get told her weight which was wrong and i weighed her at home, and the vet told me nothing was wrong with my lizard when she was CLEARLY malnourished and bloated. I only recently started using West End because my regular vet was on a leave of absence. My dog's Oncologist, who has been caring for my dog for a year and a half, called West End to see if they would fill a prescription for some doggy aspirin. The girl who phoned back used the dog's by the wrong name and insisted they needed bloodwork to fill the prescription. I felt like they were just trying to create another bill for me. In addition, I felt as if they were second guessing my dog's Oncologist. Another girl then called my wife on her phone, circumventing me, using the dog's incorrect name and reiterating that the need bloodwork to fill the prescription. I became very angry and annoyed with them but would not consider my attitude as "hostile". Following is an email they sent to me: "To whom it may concern, Hello, I was present during the conversation that you had today with our front desk and tech staff. Due to the hostile nature of the call, we are refusing to give service to you and your pet going forward. I've always seen this place as it's located in the same shopping plaza as our supermarket, but didn't think much of it. Boy, was I wrong! Our cats have been peeing on the bathroom rugs so I wanted to evaluate for a possible UTI. We couldn't go to our normal vet because they aren't open on Saturdays, and I barely have time to take myself to an appointment during the week, much less for our furry children. From the moment we came in to the moment we left we felt valued. The vet tech, Sam, introduced himself to us and shook my hand! You're lucky for the vet tech to even make eye contact much less have a conversation! The exam room (and entire office) smelled clean and not full of that old animal smell. They use oil diffusers which makes the place smell great. They have a cat tree in the exam room- something our kitty immediately took a liking to while his brother was being examined. Both of our cats were treated respectfully and treated for potential bladder issues. I went ahead and moved our records over permanently. This place is great! read more

Dog had an allergic reaction (face looked like a balloon, I was afraid it would move down to her throat). I took my dog to St Francis Animal Hospital (she was a patient there) and I was told they were booked for the day and could not see me, they sent us home. How dare they send a sick dog home without taking 5 minutes to evaluate them? Dr Russo and their staff, friendly and knowledgeable greeted me with open arms. They did a deep general check, reviewed all costs before performing services, and more importantly, didn't think twice about helping. Their website has a portal to review animal history, payments and scheduling. They also provide an online shop for medication, food and treats. Prices are competitive, location is ideal for the area and office is clean (smells really good!) Needless to say, I will be bringing my 2 other pets as well as my dog. However, West End came to us as a god send... after taking us in (rather quickly) - the staff assessed our cat and explained to us both the positive and negative aspects of our cat. If I could give a negative star I would! Don't even take your pet rock here!!! I took my best friend to these people and trusted them with treating not just my pet, but a better dog than most people in my life!! My best friend was drinking large, large, large amounts of water that just started!!! Well, 600 busks later, I'm told its the change in weather is why she's drinking a lot, plus she's up there in age so like hot flashes for a person, she gets them sort of also! I told them my friend is inside ALL DAY EVERY DAY and I keep it 74 degrees, its not because of the weather!! A month or so later when she was getting worse, now throwing up, I asked to bring her in, its an emergency, I'm told 2 weeks you can, say WTF!!!!!!!!! They didn't examine her very good, had they have, they would have felt the mass in her belly!!!! Had they have, maybe could have provided the proper treatment and provide a better quality of life at the end, because in the end she suffered, because of the quacks I asked for help!! My friend was 13 yrs old so I knew she was getting up in age, but all I wanted was accurate information and great treatment, I got neither!!! If you come here, question everything they do!!! Now, when I get home I'm not greeted by the best pet ever, she may have been able to be here longer, had she received the proper care!!!!!!! read more

What ever happened to professionals being in the animal care industry for their passion and dedication to HELPING the animals?? Don't waste your time with this place, especially if you have an urgent situation; all they CARE about is the money and have staff members whom would like to believe that they went to school for four years to become a veterinarian. My cat got into potentially poisonous substances and we went to this place, since it was the only vet with a doctor staffed apparently and when we got there, they took my cat into the back and the vet tech quickly came back up front to inquire about him but before I could answer any questions, she began to say that they would need to call the toxic pet helpline which costs $75, in order to figure out HOW to treat him and WHAT to do.. shouldn't you know what to do with all your experience and knowledge?? I could have called them myself but I brought my animal to a professional. It was pretty clear my cat, who had dilated pupils, accelerated heart rate, high temperature, open mouth breathing, spinning in circles, vomiting, had gotten into what I suspect the ADHD medication (Adderall) from my pet sitter like I thought and informed them several times. They watched my cat suffer and did NOTHING, and then told me the bill was going to be about $1500-2000 when they haven't even assessed my cat or his condition. I never got to see the vet since she was not in yet and I told them that price wasn't accurate and they were taking advantage of a traumatic situation (since I worked at an animal hospital for 10 years prior in South Florida to recently moving to Kissimmee and know what the prices are on average) and that's when the eager receptionist, or wanna-be vet #2, decided to chime in, saying they refuse to treat my cat if I do not agree to all of their recommended procedures since they did not want to be liable, when I asked if it was possible to just give him fluids for dehydration and a light sedative to calm him. They both then continued to repeat he has a possibility of dying.. yet keep standing around and doing nothing to help him but tell me I have to pay $2,000 for procedures I know he does not need. I had to walk away I was so frustrated and asked them what happened to actually CARING for the pets and not just seeing it as a paycheck, a job? I told them I was taking my cat somewhere else and they closed their remarks with again, I hope he doesn't die... NO THANKS to your staff. Moral of the story, I went to Osceola Emergency Clinic down the street, dropped my cat off and was greeted by friendly staff, spoke to the doctor and the first thing they did was examine him, taking his temperature (which was 104.7 after all the time wasted!!!!!!) and listening to his heartbeat, before giving me a estimate of $570 for the sedative, bloodwork, fluids and day at the hospital being monitored. That is how it's done. Your clinic should take notes and if your heart and passion IS NOT in it for the animals, PLEASE FIND A NEW JOB! Life is too short to be miserable in your job and everyone can tell you're miserable. I usually am not one to write reviews or complain but this experience was so upsetting and I will always advocate for my family (especially the furry ones). I am happy to join in and heap tons of praise upon Dr. Russo and her fantastic team. Based on a recommendation from a friend, I brought my one year old rescue Goldendoodle, Maxx, in about a year ago. I know nothing about the breed, but this staff was so friendly and helpful and happily answered any questions I asked. They even told me the cost upfront and explained every detail beforehand. Then a few months later, I brought Maxx in for a follow-up and questions about a rash he had developed. Turns out it's allergies, so they gave me great advice, medication, spray and shampoo which cleared it right up. Then, last week I brought him in for his annual exam and again he had broken out in another rash, same allergy issue. What I'd like to say is that this team is the very best! I got a follow-up call the next day, asking if Maxx was doing okay. I just love the care and compassion, the clean office and friendly staff, along with the precautions they are taking due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We were escorted directly to a room, had the exam, and even paid the bill before walking out, with MINIMUM contact with anyone else there. They are fantastic! Rave times 1,000!! This place is the best from the doctor to their whole entire staff!! They really care about the animals that go there. You are treated like your family there and the pet you bring to them like a child! They love what they do and it shows in every way. We had an emergency and bought our dog there and she saved her life and they made my Bella so comfortable that she wasn't scared at all. She even showed them with kisses!
