What a great store! I always pass by it on my way to Cape May Point but finally stopped to look in. It is a collection of stalls with varying goods - -- almost like an upscale flea market. There was just about everything you could imagine in there - - - from used clothing and shoes - - - to Cape May memorabilia - - as well as works by local artists. If there was a zero I would assign it. Black people beware. I have visited Cape May for years but I never visited this shop. The antiques and the knicknacks were so appealing as well as the curb appeal of the store so I decided to walk in. I asked about antique marbles, and a friendly clerk helped me find them. I decided I did not want to buy the whole jar and proceeded to peruse the store with my husband and 2 little girls in tow. I was followed and watched from booth to booth while white families happily looked around and handled items without a clerk anywhere near them secretly following and watching. To make sure, I went through the whole store enduring this nonsense. I walked out with my head held high and every item I was interested in put back on the shelf. I will never be back. read more

The West End Garage should be on every shopper's list to check out if in West Cape May. Whether looking for antiques or for Arts & Crafts, this place is enjoyable for browsing. The business is made up of lots of stalls, each containing unique selections of antiques, jewelry, clothing, paintings, crafts, books and much more. Walking throughout the building is like a passage to yesteryear reminding of things past or exploring things from beforehand. The staff is always pleasant and occasionally artists will be on hand. The walkways between stalls can be cramped when the store is busy but otherwise fine. Having made several repeat trips over the recent years, I find that they do a good job of keeping it fresh with new offerings and finds while keeping some of the regulars stalls mixed. Such a cool spot down in Cape May. It's set up like a market on the inside, with various retail booths that blend together to make it quaint. The owners are very cool and helpful. They recommended a place to eat and they allow dogs in the store. This place sells art, antiques, clothing, and more. I'll definitely go back again because the merchandise must change often. Every year I visit Cape May. And every year I visit West End Garage to browse. This year I picked up an item I thought was a vintage piece. The price was marked as $18.99 and I purchased the item. I went to Dellas and the exact same piece was priced at $8.99. I took a picture at Dellas of the item and price. West End Garage is unscrupulous. The shop takes items from China and doubles the price to sell them as vintage items. All items are marked as ALL SALES FINAL. Now I know why. I do NOT recommend West End Garage and will not be shopping there. BUYER BEWARE. read more

Great place to shop in Cape May. Numerous booths offer plenty of variety, from fashion items, to antiques, to art, to other handcrafted items. BUT, WATCH OUT FOR O'Neills Estate Jewelry!! We were looking at some vintage watches, most seemed a bit overpriced, but we kind of expected that for a shore town jewelry shop. However, we were quoted a price of $6200 for a vintage Accutron watch ("15% off if we bought it today"). We kindly walked away bc the price was outrageous. Later in the day while perusing eBay I noticed the exact same watch listed by the same seller for $3000. Still very high. I'm sure the owner expects people to haggle, but to quote shoppers a price more than double what you are listing it for online is shameful. read more

This is an adorable place with great potential HOWEVER for the third weekend in a row I have waited in a very long line with only one register open and a woman with a ponytail and glasses who we presume is the manager, standing and talking to a coworker, ignoring the line. The girl behind the counter called to her not once but TWICE and was ignored! By the time she came begrudgingly over to help there was no one in line! She is also rude when she does wait on you. My girlfriend purchased a sweater costing $100 and it was rolled up and shoved into a tiny bag which ripped before we even walked out. When we asked for another bag, the same rude lady flipped the bag over, dumped the sweater onto the counter and threw it in another bag. Everyone else there is so nice ... I try not to let one bad apple spoil the bunch, but when we see her behind the counter or walking around the store, we leave. Beware of this woman of you visit! The cafe is great and the coffee and baked goods are amazing! Also, they hold your items behind the counter for you so you can shop. read more

This place is sooooooooooooooo cute!! It's a perfect place for buying gifts or nice things for yourself. They have jewelry, clothing, art, antiques, food, books, whimsical finds, and more. You can find something for just about anyone. In fact, I bought some gifts for my friends and a few things for myself. They also sell things by local artists. I'm willing to make the trip down to Cape May again just to go here again. read more

West End Garage is what it sounds like; a garage that's been retrofitted into individual stalls that appear to be rented out. When I first visited the WEG years ago, it was a place for Cape May artists to sell their wares. You would find some pretty unique stuff. As time goes on, however, those Artists seemed to have relocated and left behind a group of tiny retail-store-stalls. While there is still some original art for sale, you will find a lot of prepacked nonsense, targeting the casual vacationer. If I wanted to see that kind of merchandise, I would go to a big box retail store chain. The WEG still has some of its original mystique and I would advise you go check it out at least once. I certainly hope the addition of retain nonsense stops and they get back to featuring more local artists. read more

The store itself is cute. My dissatisfaction is with the coffee shop and bakery, Beach Plum, that is part of this establishment. They were given good reviews - people especially commented on their lavender donuts. When we went early in the morning, all that had were boring sugar and plain donuts - the same kind made by Hostess that I could get at the Acme. When we asked the man working there he said " About 6 other customers have asked for those today, but we don't have any." We asked if they would have any in the next few days and he said in a condescending tone "Probably not." I later found out that they are affiliated with Beach Plum Farm that sells lavender - what gives ? Nothing special here at all. read more

Unique, Unique, Unique. This place is great!! Supports local artists!!There are just some people with great unique talent who don't get to showcase their work and this place is a wonderful venue for them. Not a lot of junk that you would find elsewhere. Very tastefully laid out as well, not overwhelming. Staff is very friendly, no one is pushy, and the artists are really happy when you purchase their work. There is such a wide range of things to buy. I purchased a lovely momento here to celebrate my weekend away with my dear husband. Do stop here and skip some of the same old, same old trinket stores. read more

One of the coolest stores i have ever been to. Basically like an indoor flea market. Take a few laps around to make sure you have seen it all. I got a vintage tea pot for my grandmother for about 1/2 the price of any we saw all weekend. Prices vary actually...price tags seems to either provoke a "wow really cool" or a "no f'in way", not may in the middle. read more

My house is slowly being furnished by West End Garage! And I live in PA! Every time I stop in, there one more item I just *have* to pick up! The vendors are very knowledgeable, and if they're not present, the employees are always there to tend to your every need. The jewelry, art, and accessories are so fun too. Wow. This might be my favorite store in the world. An excellent mix of vintage, classy estate sales, brand new artifacts and pottery, and don't get me started on the fantastic jewelry! Very cool items! I wish this was around the corner from my home so I could go more frequently (living 9 hours away doesn't make this the ideal store for me). My only complaint is the women working at the front weren't the greatest, I feel like if a customer makes a complaint and then leaves, don't talk about them or laugh at them in front of another customer (me) and maybe make eye contact or something. Out of the three only one was really nice. But, I would still go back because of the items being so great and unique! read more

I love the eclectic mix of merchandise and that I don't have to go over to the Washington St mall to get some of my favorite locally made gourmet foods such as olive oil, peanut butter, and honey. Check out the alpaca wool hats and scarfs which are also a local dealer. Lots of great antique/vintage shops nearby as well. read more

What brought me to the West End Garage was Annie Sloan Chalk Paint. I have heard so many good things about it that I wanted to try it. Walking into the store, the staff were busy chatting amongst themselves. Not very friendly toward me. I asked about the paint and was pointed in the direction of the paint. I looked at the paint and then walked around to the other booths. I went back to the paint and started asking questions. Still not very friendly. I didn't buy the paint but bought some jewelry. I am going back to buy the paint. I think the place is a cool place to shop and was surprised by the other reviews of the friendliness of the staff. Will let you know about my return visit. read more
