Ordered about 30 minutes before closing and staff was accommodating and courteous. Ordered whole order of veg fried rice, crab Rangoon and veg spring rolls. The veg spring rolls were sooo good. Crab rangooon was good too but just a tad too sweet for me. I will definitely be back and recommend you to try! Enjoy.

Sesame Chicken lunch Combo

Went to West End Wok with one of my coworkers and I had a nice time! It's a quick walk away from WashU medical center so it's a good place to stop for both patient and employee alike. The staff were very kind and patient with me and the service was fantastic and so speedy! We went soon after it opened so the place was pretty quiet but I can see it getting busy. I ordered the lunch special and it was a good amount of food for about $10-12. I got an egg drop soup, two sides (1 spring roll and 1 crab Rangoon) and a main dish which for me was sesame chicken. Everything was tasty and a good temperature, food was also served so fast, from ordering to food I would say 10minutes. Overall great place will visit again!

As far as delivery goes, this might be one of the freshest Chinese places in STL. I was impressed by the quality of ingredients, portion size, and spill proof packaging. I will order again for sure.

Orange Chicken

It saddens me to leave this review because I really liked this restaurant. In the last few months I've been disappointed in the serving size I've received after ordering the same items for years. Last week I ordered delivery through uber eats- the bogo orange chicken and the west end beef. They both tasted like nothing but sugar. The beef was over fried, it had the consistency of beef jerky. The orange chicken sauce was like an orange/brown glob without any remnant of orange flavor. Even more insulting was both dishes are supposed to come with broccoli. The orange chicken had none at all, the beef had about 3-4 tiny pieces. In all my order was about $40. Definitely wasn't worth the $.

Buddhist Delight Dinner Combo

West End Wok is a nice and fast Chinese takeout restaurant located in the central west end. I've found this take out restaurant to be very reliable in the past and well priced for the portions. In the past I've ordered their Hunan Tofu, Beef and Broccoli, Fried Chicken Wings, and House Lo Mein. Today I ordered their Buddhist Delight Dinner Combination which comes with rice (white or fried) and any combination of 3 sides (spring roll, soup, and/or crab rangoons) for all for $11.50. West End Wok is my go to spot whenever I am craving Chinese food and it never disappoints. The spring rolls were crispy and delicious and the fried tofu and vegetables in the Buddhist Delight were nicely coated in a balanced sweet and savory sauce. The egg drop soup too was a nice touch. My portions was large and all of my food was ready to go about 10 minutes after I ordered. I will continue to come back here and enjoy their delicious food whenever I have a craving for Chinese food!

I can't recommend this place more! The staff is kind, the food is phenomenal, and the portions are generous for the price. One of the best Chinese dishes I've had in STL! You won't be disappointed!

Combination plate general tso chicken with rice and crabragoon

I decided to go here for lunch since my co-worker was raving about this place. I'm very particular about my Chinese food. When I arrived, they were a bit busy, and it seems that if you call in an order, you get your food faster. When I approached the order counter, the lady was nice in waiting for me to figure out what I wanted. I settled on the combination plate with general tso chicken, rice, and crabragoon. You also get a soup, which I got the egg soup( not pictured). I'll be honest the rice wasn't that great even with soy sauce. The general tso chicken had a good kick of heat to it, so you may like that if it's your thing. The egg soup I was not a big fan of and ended up not even eating it. The crab rangoon was decent. It wasn't bad but not something I would try again.

Chicken Lo Mein

I placed a carry out order, it was ready when I got there and the employees greeted me as soon a I walked in! The food was sooooo good and it was still steaming hot when I got back to my house! I recommend this place for takeout and you can eat in as well, it's in the perfect little spot to walk to on a nice day in the CWE!

The orange chicken was very chewy and the lo mein didn't smell good. Only liked the white rice and the food was ready in 10 minutes.

For two people, this is my go to order:…read more *Deep fried handmade tofu with special sauce (17.95) *Sautéed lamb with cumin (19.95) *Storm fish fillet (19.95) The lamb has enough of the "wetness" and vegetables to eat and mix with the rice. The lamb pieces used to be small but they are huge now! Appreciate the owners taking the feedback. I think they make the tofu in house. They are huge thick soft pieces with enough crispness on the outside. It's a good introduction to how seriously Chinese people take tofu and how in other countries they have a huge variety of tofu, vs the select few we have in the U.S. And I used to be partial to the spicy fried fish at cate zone, but chilispot has upgrade this dish a lot. It's perfectly crispy and hot!!! Even if you don't like fish, it's a great dish and also makes for great leftovers. I know the fried chicken is popular but I find the chicken pieces are too small. Even with two heavy eaters, we still have leftovers for another meal

It was excellent and had just the right amount of heat. I also enjoyed the smoky ham fried rice, although it lacked the distinct smoky aroma I was expecting. Some of the other dishes didn't quite land for me. The fish soup wasn't my favorite, and the beef noodle soup wasn't especially memorable. The cumin lamb, however, was better than expected and ended up being one of the stronger dishes we ordered. That said, the service was friendly, the portions were generous, and there are plenty of interesting options on the menu. I'd definitely come back to try some different dishes next time.

The expectation was high, and the restaurant delivered outstanding marks. The menu was huge (over 300 items) and we had no idea what to eat. No worries, the daughter of the proprietor, Sarah, was our server and without rushing, she thoughtfully asked questions to narrow down our options to the items she believed we would really like. She was very friendly and her recommendations hit the spot. I ordered a Banh Me Thit (56) and a Com Tom Thit Trung (74). The Banh Me had very fresh bread and I enjoyed every bite. The Com Tom Thit Trung was very good, just what I expected. Throughout our meal, Sarah would stop by to check on us and we also chatted about the restaurant and its' history (since I saw an article in St. Louis Magazine framed to the wall). One of my rules-of-thumb of good hospitality at a restaurant is if leftovers are boxed up for you. At the end of the meal, Sarah's brother cleared the table and boxed up the food. If you want authentic food with great service backed by a rich storyline with 40 years of history in St. Louis, check out Mai Lee!

The menu is varied with authentic or Americanized "Asian" stirfry and egg rolls. The Pho is outstanding! My goodness, the flavors of the broth, with added ingredients from chicken and beef to vegetarian. What brings it home are the side dishes of flavor bombs they serve along side: jalapeños, bean sprouts, and Thai basil. Add it to the soup and the noodles seem to envelope it all with an explosion of flavor as you slurp even to the last drop. And grab those last leaves or noodles with your chopsticks. It's worth every bite. I highly recommend Mai Lee, as it is at the top of our all-time favorites list.

I flinch whenever I hear the "movoc" and I get so excited I want to throw up whenever someone suggests going to movoc for a hangout. There are lots of toppings to choose from, and I think that the concept of hot pot price by weight just like FroYo is fun and unique. Service is fast, and clean. The hot pot was delicious and not too spicy and the sauces they had to offer were very delicious as well. Not too salty. It's a wonderful place, whether you go alone or with friends.

This was my first experience at a hot pot by the pound restaurant. I've only been to all you can…read moreeat hot pot restaurants, so I was excited to try this place out. Apparently, I wasn't the only one because this place got packed by 6p on a weekday! The line was out the door. It can be a little confusing for a first time goer as you enter the place and grab a bowl to select the ingredients you want to eat. The minimum weight that you have to buy is 0.9 lbs, but you really won't know how much your bowl weighs until you get up to the cashier and put it on the scale. My bowl was underweight my first time through, so I went back to grab more ingredients. If I had to guess the minimum cost for a 0.9 lb bowl, it's probably about $16, which is a pretty good price for a hot pot. My bowl weighed about 0.97 and it was way more than I could comfortably eat. The next decision you have to make after you have selected your ingredients is the base and spicy level. I went with #1 Oil splash spicy soup at medium spice level. Now, I enjoy spicy foods, but this was at the upper limit of enjoyability. Although tasty, I think the oil in the broth got to be too much and I will want to try a different base next time. After you pay for your food, you get a number which you take to a table of your choosing and wait for your bowl to come out (they cook it for you). There is a drinking water station next to the free rice station, which was around the corner from the complimentary pickled vegetable station. Overall, positive experience and I would return for more. .|\---/| | @_@ | ..\_^_/..2026
