One of our favorite places to eat at in the Delmar Loop. We like to watch them make the noodles by hand

This was exactly what I needed in my life. Delicious, and I mean delicious Chinese food, walking distance from my hotel. Located in the Delmar Loop, there are a lot of good restaurants but I highly encourage you to check this spot out. While I dined in, it seems perfect for takeout too. The 'Three Cup Chicken' was a big time winner with crispy chicken thighs, cooked perfectly and very flavorful. We also tried the chili oil dumplings, and some sort of magical green tea drink. Service was good, vibes are good, and really it's a great spot. I feel like you could probably point anywhere on the menu and find something that sounds delicious, including their boba and other tea drinks. Go check this spot out! read more

This used to be my fav spot!!! However, over the last year I have noticed food portions have gotten smaller. Their takeout system is a disaster. I sat there for 30 minutes even though I got a text the order was ready 25 minutes prior. It's a Thursday and they aren't super busy...... I looked at the screen with it saying my order is ready for at least 25 minutes. However they keep saying 10-15 more minutes. The people helping "locate" orders are also very not helpful. read more

I can't believe it took me so long to try this place! We ordered the crab Rangoon, wontons in chili oil and the pork bao buns for appetizers. The wontons were a huge hit for the 5 of us. I got the 3 cup chicken and it was so flavorful and saucy. The cucumber salad was very crisp and fresh. Huge portions for everything. I would definitely recommend joining the waitlist on Yelp beforehand so you don't have to wait as long. Our server was so nice and attentive. ALWAYS a great experience at Corner 17!! I've been here so many times and tried so many different kinds of dishes and appetizers on their menu - everything's delicious! Today was the first time I tried dessert from Corner 17 (since I'm usually too full for dessert!) : we got the Mango Shaved Ice. So good!! The mangos are fresh and the shaved ice also has the flavor of mango, without tasting artificial. The popping bobas on the side are also a great touch. Service is also always quick and friendly. When you see the option to join the waitlist, you should take it; when you see the ETA, you should believe it. Corner 17 is a popular spot at lunch time, dinner time, and any time between. Simce we already found ourselves near the Loop, my wife and I decided to visit for the second time tonight. We're glad we did. As busy as it was, their system is efficient. There was a span of about 50 minutes from walking into the dining room and back out onto Delmar, with multiple water refills and check-ins along the way. Once you open the menu, time is replaced with a question: How can I decide what sounds best with so many options that sound delicious? We both struggled between three or four dishes, but soaked in the bright green walls and large window into the kitchen as the team hand-stretched noodles and our choice narrowed down to an order. We finally settled on an appetizer of crab rangoon along with Kung Pao chicken and sesame chicken for our entrees. The crab rangoons have a wonderful crispy wonton texture and balanced cream cheese filling that leans on the sweeter side without being too sweet. My main dish (Kung Pao chicken) featured a rich sauce coating that was slightly sweet and slightly savory, with a variety of subtle flavor notes and a pronounced kick of chili peppers at the end. The texture combo of marinated chicken and roasted peanuts paired very nicely with the soft, fluffy white rice served on the side. My desire to enjoy it again as a leftover this week was the only thing that kept me from eating the entire entree tonight. Corner 17 is worth the wait. A tried and true favorite that I've been coming back to for years with my friends. Popular for a very good reason. Whenever friends visit from out of town this is always one of my go to recommendations and every single time they leave raving about it. It is always packed so just mentally prepare for a wait. We usually put our name on the waitlist and then walk around or grab boba from the front area while we wait. The takeout section is equally slammed with orders. The menu is great and has photos and it also includes options for vegetarians. The hand pulled noodles are super popular and must order dish. You can watch them being made through a glass section in the middle of the restaurant which is a fun touch. The staff is super efficient and friendly even when it's at max capacity. Every dish we've tried has been consistently delicious, nothing has ever disappointed. One of those spots that never gets old no matter how many times you go. Highly recommend. read more

First time at the Corner 17 with my wife and sister! We had a great experience at this Chinese restaurant in St. Louis! The food was fresh, flavorful, and served hot. This is a busy place! You can check in, and they will text you when your table is ready. There is a waiting area on the right side of the area, I think it's also a place to order drinks. When our table was ready, we were led to the dining area in the middle of the room. Great view of the window to see the chefs making the noodles. So interesting! Liz was our server and she was great! She took our appetizer orders and then let us think about our main dish option. She took the time to explain some of the dishes we had questions about and explained mala. Fried potstickers - great, chicken skewers - great, wontons in chili oil - great - it is hot, Crab Rangoon - ok - too sweet for me. Overall, really great appetizers. General Tsos chicken - good, orange chicken - good, black pepper chicken, really good, and mala stir fry - interesting. Liz explained the mala stir fry to perfection as a little tingly/numbing and a little hot at 1 heat level. I think maybe I just didn't pick the right ingredients; Bok choy, cauliflower, cabbage, chicken and hand shaved noodles. Not a lot of flavors there. Overall, the noodle soup was great! There's a generous amount of beef, and I love how you can choose different types of noodles! I got the hand-shaved noodles because they give a chewy texture. The parking requires some walking if you park in the back of the restaurant, but overall, I would love to come back and try tiger dishes from the menu! read more

Although a very busy restaurant, the wait staff was polite explained the dishes and followed up well. We tried two dishes a pickled fish soup (sounds different but it was great) and garlic beef. The soup portion was huge. The wontons for an appetizer was great. The beef entree was our least favorite, it was a little sweet for me, but not terrible. The Thai tea was delish! I love the central location of this spot, located on the edge of The Loop on Delmar. There is plenty of parking in the lot behind the business and a very pleasant and safe walk from your car to their front doors. One thing I noticed and appreciated about Corner 17 was the productivity of the entire staff. I think the space operates with such efficiency because of the incredible staff. My guest and I went on a Friday evening, and it was pretty busy. I recommend reserving a spot prior to getting there. We ended up waiting about 45 minutes to an hour. The space was pretty clean, and the energy and vibe were nice. Once we were seated, our server brought us waters out right away (I loved that!). The menu is very vast, so it took us a minute to order. I got the chicken wings for an appetizer and the beef stir fry for my entrée. I thought everything tasted pretty good! I could see myself coming back if invited and trying a different thing on the menu. I'm curious how everything else tastes, lol. Wow. I had ordered to go from this spot one of my first weekends in St. Louis but I finally went back and sat inside and it didn't disappoint. You have to get the noodles in some form when you're here. The pork rib was so flavorful and tender with the soup that this is certainly one of my favorite meals. I want to come back and get their pan fried noodles as well. Fried Chicken Shumai (10) $7 - Tasty, crispy fried bag-like dumplings. Sichuan Spicy Fish Fillet $16 - My favorite dishes here, I literally order this every visit. The crunchy and spicy fish bites are additive. Dan Dan Noodles $13 - Delicious spicy chili sauce! Served with julienne carrot and cucumber. Other items I have tried: Original Steamed Dumplings - Delicate dumplings with savory filling. Crab Cheese Rangoon (5 Pieces) - The wonton wrapper tasted stale, but the filling was tasty. Stir-fry noodle with shrimp - Love that it comes with veggies and medium size shrimp. Can't go wrong with the hand pulled noodles. Walnut Shrimp - I haven't met walnut shrimp I didn't like. The glaze is creamy and sweet and is served with steamed broccoli. Veggie Hand-pulled - Low key/simple, comes with cabbage, broccoli and carrots. Sichuan Spicy Noodle - Similar to Dan-Dan Noodle, but comes with bok choy. Orange Chicken - Not the crispy kind, good sauce, and comes with broccoli. Taro Sago (drink) - So delicious! Love the jelly and tapioca pearls. Mango Fluffy Ice - Saw a picture of this on here and I had to try it. People on Reddit did a tournament with NCAA-style brackets to determine the best Chinese food restaurant in St. Louis, and Corner 17 came in first. Is there a higher honor that can possibly be bestowed upon a Chinese restaurant? Situated on a stretch of the U City Loop that's been negatively impacted by the Loop Trolley and construction of an apartment complex for Wash U people who are too good to live in the dorms, Corner 17 is not sweating it. At 4:30-ish on a Sunday afternoon, there was a 45-minute wait. Who even eats at that hour, the elderly? As I patiently waited on the sidewalk outside, roughly 10 or 15 people walked in, were told that there was--at that point--an hour and twenty minute wait--and were like, Eff that noise, Jack! This is St. Louis. People have things to do and people to meet. If necessary, they'll eat at El Maguey. Inside is decidedly casual and maybe a little bit cramped. if the chairs were more comfy, people might linger and the wait would be even longer. The area near the front door, where you order weird beverages and pick up delivery orders for your rideshare job, calls to mind the floor of the New York Stock Exchange. Given the unique nature of the aforementioned beverages, you'd think the food menu might skew to the unfamiliar, but there wasn't anything that struck me as especially odd or potentially illegal. If you wanted to, you could treat this place as an elevated, inconvenient Panda Express. They carry Shrimp Fried Rice, Crab Rangoon, General Tso's Chicken, etc. In the interest of not overthinking things, I went with the Stir-Fried Noodles with Pork. I also had, as appetizers, the Beef Egg Rolls, the Fried Chicken Shumai and the Wontons with Chili Oil, and for my requisite unique beverage, the Matcha Red Bean Lava. I went all out. And keep in mind, this was a day that began with a Caramel Frappe, elsewhere--a rare two-frozen-beverage day for your boy. The Egg Rolls and the Shumai were just whatever. If another restaurant sold them, they'd be given an award by whatever remains of the local media, but this is Corner 17. The Wontons with Chili Oil were transcendent. Incredibly flavorful, with a tender and yet substantive wrapper coated in a thin layer of subtly flagrant oil. You wish they didn't slide down your throat so quickly, so you could savor them that much longer. No Diddy. Of the stir-fried noodles, the pork seemed like it might be the most flavorful. With all due respect to the Honorable Minister. There was also a Sichuan version, with a spicy sauce, that I seriously considered, but the photo of it made it seem like it might be more cabbage-forward than I required. The noodles immediately called to mind a lo mein lunch special I used to get at a place around the corner from my parents' house back in the mid '00s, one of my favorite things to eat at the time. Whereas that was processed and cloying, and yet deeply satisfying, this had a real refinement to it. The hand-pulled noodles, which I watched the guy pull while I waited (ayo!), were richly flavored and perfectly al dente. I felt like a bit of a savage, like someone who orders a well-done steak, twirling them around on my fork to the point where they'd hardly fit in my mouth and then stuffing my face with them, but it was worth. Oh, and the drink. "Red bean," in this case, was not figurative or symbolic. There were actual red beans in this, like you might get at a Popeyes. Whose idea was this? They were sweetened, and delicious, but inexplicable nonetheless. Otherwise, this wasn't altogether different from something you'd get at a Starbucks and post on social media to stunt on other members of the community. I've yet to eat at every Chinese food restaurant in the area, and I don't know that anyone should (with all due respect), but I don't have a problem believing that Corner 17 is the absolute best. I enjoyed everything that I got, and I'd be willing to wait even longer than I did, depending on what I had to do that day. read more

Corner 17 is one of the most hyped/talked about chinese spots in all of stl and for good reason. Super solid bites on a bustling street. The loop is full of competition and corner 17 is certainly the big dog. Consistently seen with full tables, long lines, and empty plates. I got some take out and hit general tsos with some dumplings. The general tsos was great. Sweet, tangy, and a little kick. I asked for extra spicy and it had kick but certainly was pretty tame. The dumplings were juicy, and bursting with umami chicken. (Don't get the super fruit oolong tea, there's way too much fruit that you're left with all the boba at the bottom) We ordered the crab cheese rangoons ($7), bao trio ($12, pork, veg, and taro), pork stir fry w/ hand-pulled noodles ($14) and orange chicken ($15). The portions are great for eating family-style! It was fun to watch them make noodles and dumplings while waiting for our food. Corner 17 is always a hit in my experience. The service is typically quick even with a full dining room and wait. The food is out in a timely manner. There are lots of options available on the menu, with a wide variety of boba tea if that's your thing. The bao and pot stickers are my favorite starters. I love the black pepper chicken, lemon chicken, and fried rice. You can watch them hand pull the noodles through a window, which is entertaining and interesting to see. That's next on my list to try. I finally tried this spot after months of procrastinating! Now I wish I would've gone there sooner, because those noodles were sooooo good and the cooks make them fresh right before serving. One of the things that stood out to me, besides their amazing food, was their customer service. The servers there don't pester you a million times to ask how the food is, they pay attention to see when something is needed and they allow you to enjoy your meal without further interruptions. Speedy service and great food made from scratch! I could've sworn I took pictures but I can't seem to find them. Order: * chili oil wontons * pan fried dumplings I can't remember what my mom and brother ordered but their food was so good too. One of the noodles and beef stews. I can't really handle spicy foods but the chili oil wontons were spicy enough where I could get a kick but not feel like I was going to cry. It was perfect for me! The pan fried dumplings seemed more like steamed with crispy edges which is not what I was expecting, but still tasted great esp with the dipping sauce. I definitely need to come back to try more since they have a wide selection. Another thing to note is that we were starved and the food came out surprisingly quickly. read more
