I've eaten Chinese food all over the country, including New York City, and Grand Wok is still my favorite. The food is consistently fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly every time. When Bo Fung merged with Grand Wok, I was worried the quality might change, but thankfully it didn't. They kept everything that made Bo Fung legendary while continuing to deliver outstanding food and service. If you're looking for the best Chinese food in St. Louis, this is it. In my opinion, it even beats many of the famous spots in NYC. The portions are good, the prices are fair, and every visit reminds me why I keep coming back, but I hate that it's such a drive. Lobby smells like mold. I had to stand outside while waiting for my food. The food was really good tho.

Called in for takeout on a Thursday evening. Had three entrées, was ready in about 15 minutes. No tables for dining in. Fried wontons were crisp and had a small amount of meat filling. Fried rice was a bit on the hard side, otherwise typical Americanized style, heavy on the salt and MSG. Lo mein was fairly basic, and had onions that were a little tough and undercooked, although noodles and meat tasted fine. Egg foo young was decently done, not overcooked, served with gravy over the top. Prices were reasonable for the generous portion sizes though. This was THE WORST tasting Chinese food I have ever tasted in my life. As an ardent fan of Asian food, I was duped by the previous good ratings. My Shrimp with Lobster sauce had some kind of weird coating on the shrimp that had a sweet taste--the sauce was thin as water. The whole thing was just disgusting! I could not eat any of it -- it tasted sooo bad. My daughter had orange chicken and sesame chicken as back up because she's had bad orange chicken before. Both dishes tasted exactly the same and neither tasted like any Orange Chicken or Sesame Chicken we have ever had before. Back in business! I just ordered food last night from Grand Wok after them being closed for the better part of a year. I don't know if it's new ownership but I can only imagine it is. But same name, same location, newly opened as of 11/29/21 I ordered garlic chicken, no bamboo shoots, pot stickers, egg rolls and crab rangoons. The garlic chicken was really very good. The chicken actually taste like chicken and not just the stringy chicken-like substance you get in a lot of the chinese places all through north america. Chicken, water chestnuts, green peppers, and carrots. The sauce is almost typical but it taste really fresh. No complaints there. The pot stickers were your regular pot stickers you get in the chinese places all through north america. I opted for the fried ones and they came out as expected. The egg rolls were fresh and quite good. Not house made but the good quality frozen ones I'm sure. It's typically what you'd get in a lot of the chinese places all through north america. The same goes for the crab rangoons. Typical of what you'd get in a lot of the chinese places all through north america. Nothing special. But all in all very happy with the outcome of our first trip back to this old location with the same type of food and the same name. Was hopeful after reading other reviews for a new Chinese Food Delivery Spot. Will not be ordering from here again. The Fried Rice was yellow for no apparent reason (zero flavor). The Crab Rangoons had little to no stuffing. Requested hot sweet and sour sauce and received packets. The St. Paul Sandwich did not have lettuce, onion, or mayo. To top it all off, there were NO fortune cookies!!! South City HAS better options than this. read more

I saw the review below and decided to check this place out... It was kind of cute when I walked in... The table I sat at was a little bit greasy. The sign over the door says "dining"...I had told the cashier I Wanted to eat there. however I got the order packed up to go. when I asked for a plate they said they didn't have any but did go back into the kitchen and come back with a larger Styrofoam container that I could eat out of. there were a lot of flies in there... And as I sat there eating I noticed The ledges of the windows were covered with dirt! It didn't look like they'd been washed in a year. The food was not too bad, but I don't know if it's a place I would go back to again. After seeing how dirty the restaurant part was, it makes me wonder how clean the kitchen is. I was driving south on Grand looking for a cheap and quick place to eat when I happened upon Grand Wok. It's a very small, family owned restaurant with an extensive and cheap menu. I ordered the General Tso's Chicken which came with pork fried rice and an egg roll. That and a glass of water ran me a whopping $4.50! It doesn't get any cheaper than that, folks! I was pleasantly surprised at the bold, spicy flavor of the chicken. There were even two whole chilies cooked in the mix. The rice and egg roll were average, but the chicken was excellent. There was also some fresh steamed broccoli on the side. The woman at the cash register was super friendly. There were customers that came in who she knew by name...Very cool! To every order that came through the door she would say about a 10 minute wait for the food. More like less than 5! Worry not, the food does not suffer from being cooked up quickly. If you live around Carondelet Park or are in the neighborhood, give this place a shot. You will not be disappointed! read more

I ordered my food went to pick it up and was very expensive they added an extra whole order of fried rice i didn't order but i go here often so i didn't say anything as i walked out the door i felt hot down my side i looked and had general tso's sauce on my shirt and pants i took it back and they changed the packaging and told me to carry it flat and i know it was they must of had it so full that fart would of spilled it. So i thanked her and said i will be sure to carry it flat so i walked to my truck and sat it flat on the floorboard and drove home when i got home i removed the bag and walked in and as soon as i hit my stairs the bottom fell out from the side next to my hand and all my food fell down carpeted stairs on to my white couch. Wtf I immediately called and told them it happened again and they replied i will tell the cooks to not fill it up all the way anymore. I said i want my food replaced she said its not her fault that i drove crazy and i replied my truck doesn't do wheelies. Anyway i only had a small portion of food for my 28 dollars and ruined my cloths and carpet in my truck and on my steps and my couch and they wouldn't even replace my order? The food isnt that great to start with but i stay loyal to local restaurants but it is very clear they don't care about anything but themselves and are cutting every corner possible with super cheap containers and can't afford to replace an order or give me the benefit of doubt that i can carry a bag flat. I went here for lunch with a friend today (her choice) and judging by the look of the place was expecting something fairly mediocre. The cashier waiting to take our order was very sweet and the food came out quickly. The fried rice was ok, nothing to write home about and the beef with broccoli was ok. The price for the combination plate was $6.60, which I found reasonable for what you get. Overall, I expected mediocre and that's pretty much what I got. My friend ordered the hot braised chicken and LOVED it, so maybe I ordered the wrong thing. Also, parking is weird. We had to park in the Jack in the Box lot.
