The inside of this place has a ton of boxes scattered everywhere on half the side of the building. When I immediately walked in the guy looked at me but I was looking at the menu then he came up to the counter to take ny order. I ordered a half order of veggie fried rice, crab ragoon, and whole order of chicken fried rice. The rice itself isn't the dark looking type of rice that most people from STL is used to. The crab ragoon was only filled with cream cheese. The rice was just bland in my opinion and definitely needed some soy sauce. If you are looking for some flavor I'd look elsewhere. I've been going here for Years!!!! Always get good food and service, however the last time I got beef and broccoli, my regular order, the meat tasted like it was rancid so I didn't eat but I ate the rice and vegetables. Never got sick but it scared me. Not a fancy place but my coworkers and I eat there for lunch often. The lo mein was better than any other I've tried from a fast Chinese restaurant- nice flat thick noodles, not greasy and flavorful. The pork and broccoli was a good portion size and had decent amount of vegetables to pork ratio. The crab Rangoon was the hit of the meal with cheese filling worth the money! Flaky crunchy fried wonton with a generous portion of crab-cheese filling popping out each corner. The food itself was fine, standard American Chinese food in large portions. Crab Rangoon was just cream cheese. However, it was not worth the two-hour wait. We ordered online and it said it would be 15 minutes. That seemed overly optimistic so we waited 20 minutes to go to the restaurant. An hour and a half later, we finally got our order. Took me a moment to realize there was affordable American Chinese food near my new home in Brentwood. Maybe their name had something to do with it? That said, the family liked the dumplings, but really liked the ample egg rolls. The orange chicken was too spicy for my wife and kid, but I really liked it. The beef lo-mien was tasty. Carry out service was good and they even threw in a nifty bamboo roll up 2020 calendar. They didn't however toss in 3 fortune cookies and my son nearly lost is marbles when we realized there was only 2 for the 3 of us. Price*Quantity/quality=good value. We will return.
