This eye doctor is great. I'm not very consistent with my check and last visited them 6 years ago when they took insurance. I was WAY due so looked them up and say they changed to self pay but I figured it was worth it. This is no middle of the mall eye doctor and you feel that so I was willing to invest. The red headed assistant that works there is amazing. So fun and chatty and helpful in selecting frames. She legit could sell a blind man sunglasses. They are all so kind to everyone that walked in. The office was in the middle of an upgrade so I'm sure it will soon more appropriately match their energy and vibe. Only con was the time it took to get my frames we were moving from the West Side and they took 3 weeks to arrive so had to come from Woodstock to pick them up. The doctors may be great, but one bad staff member represents the entire firm. No one should be subjected to the poor customer service I received. This practice could care less about their clients. They could all benefit by benchmarking other practices like Harbin Eye Clinic. read more

I took my 5 year old for an eye appointment here. They were fantastic with her! I would definitely recommend them to anyone.

I've been going to West Georgia Eye Care for several years. I live about an hour away so I decided to try someone closer home. It did not compare. I'm looking forward to returning back to WGEC. I have the beginning signs of Macular Degeneration. It was found by Dr. Carter with the high tech machine that is used. I had the DNA test done to show that is in fact what he saw. The other location did not even notice it with just dilating my eyes! Yes, this place may be a little pricy, but you get what you pay for. There are no hidden fees. Everything is given to you in a pamphlet, filled in with pricing from your insurance, before any exams begin. You do have the option to say no. I will never go anywhere else again. read more

We feel that that we were charged for a test that we didn't approve and I wont go back

My husband and I chose to try West Georgia Eye Care after we got married. I made the appointment for my husband because he needed more contact lenses, and decided to go with him so I could check the place out before making my appointment. Boy, am I glad I did! First off, I will say that this place looks very nice, well kept, and professional. We didn't have to wait long before my husband was seen, and his appointment was over with quickly. All was going well, and I was thoroughly impressed, until my husband came up to me at the end of his appointment to tell me we owed the place $145! As a young, newly married wife with not a lot of money to spare, all the breath left my body. A $145? I asked him what for. I was confused because our copay with our insurance was only $10, plus we had a generous allowance for contact lenses. He seemed confused as well, so I went with him to inquire about our charges. It turns out, they nickel and dimed us for things I never had been charged for before by an eye doctor or for things I had the option not to do. For instance, we were charged $50 for the machine that takes pictures of your eyes instead of dilating my husband's eyes. At my long-time doctor's office, they would give you the option of using this type of machine with the charge or to dilate your eyes for no charge. They never gave my husband the option, and when I asked why they did not, the girl told me that their facility no longer dilates eyes. Which seems very odd to me! Next, something I had never heard of, they charged $75 for a "contact lense fitting fee." Which the girl said was not optional. So basically, they forced us into paying for these "mandatory" services. It was absolutely ridiculous! With a lump in my throat, I asked if we could set up a payment plan. A $145 might not sound like a lot to others. At the time, it was a lot for my husband and I. We had only been married a couple of months, and I knew between the two of us that was all we had. The girl told us they didn't do payment plans and the full bill had to be paid that day. It took all I had in me not to cry while I handed her my debit card and my husband handed her all of our cash. When we got to our car, I broke down. I never felt more cheated in my life than that moment, and for it to be handled so callously and without any understanding was the icing on the cake. Like I said before, the services they made us pay for were services I had heard of before. However, I have always been given the option of if I wanted to used those services. Never have I had a place provide the service as mandatory and then charge for it. read more
