I cannot recommend this office based on my personal experience. The biggest issue was with insurance billing. I am insured through Health Net UC Blue & Gold HMO. Before scheduling my appointment, I contacted the office, provided my insurance information, and was told that my insurance was not accepted, so I paid the $99 initial visit out of pocket. After the visit, I again provided my insurance information and specifically asked whether my treatment would be covered. I was again told that it would not be covered and was offered a package of four follow-up visits that I also would have had to pay for out of pocket. Because I wanted to better understand my chiropractic benefits, I contacted Health Net, which worked with American Specialty Health (ASH), the administrator of my chiropractic coverage. They informed me that this office was, in fact, an in-network provider. During their investigation, I was informed that the office had stated I had not presented my insurance information at the time of service. This was inconsistent with my experience, as I had provided my insurance information before my appointment and again after my visit when I specifically asked about coverage. Health Net subsequently initiated a grievance. The provider later agreed to submit the claim through ASH and refund the amount I paid above my required $20 copayment. This entire situation was frustrating and could have been avoided with accurate verification and processing of my insurance coverage. I was also disappointed with the clinical encounter. I did not feel that the doctor took sufficient time to listen to the history of my condition before beginning treatment. My symptoms were consistent with a recurrent SI joint problem that had previously been successfully treated by another chiropractor in a single visit. The adjustments I received here did not provide any improvement. Another concern was the lack of privacy. My initial consultation took place in the doctor's office, but the office door remained wide open and was directly adjacent to the waiting area. As a result, other patients could easily overhear our conversation. Treatment was also performed in an open area visible to patients in the waiting room, which I found uncomfortable. Finally, I was surprised to be asked for my Social Security number to create a login for future visits. Given the sensitivity of this information and the increasing concern about identity theft, I was not comfortable providing it. After I declined, the office simply used the last four digits of my phone number instead, which worked without issue. I have since found another chiropractor and will not be returning. Others may have had a different experience, but based on mine, I cannot recommend this office. read more

If you're coming here for a medical lien after a car accident, please go elsewhere!! (Preferably to Kolt Chiropractic - he's INCREDIBLE and still in the West LA area) Dr. Karr has everyone pretty much do the exact same thing when you come, like a conveyor belt of clients. Come in, use massage chair or use the 2 exercise machines. Lays you down for the electrodes and heating pad, and then general adjustment (in open view of everyone else). His hours are so inconvenient and parking is so frustrating. The biggest issue was after all the treatment was over. As a victim of an accident AND a patient you are already going through so much physically, mentally, and emotionally. Dealing with lawyers and insurance and doctors and countless appointments is beyond stressful. Then you finally get to the end and Dr. Karr demands an INSANE amount of money for treatment (mind you, he pushes you to see him 3 times a week and gives attitude if you only come once or twice. He's trying to pad the bill) Every other doctor provides a reasonable bill and also lowers that bill to a fair and logical amount. Not Dr. Karr. He's greedy and requires more money than even the lawyers, any other doctors, or you (the client) receives. I urge you to go elsewhere for better, more private, and more THOROUGH care. Get the most out of your recovery AND your settlement. I switched my care to Dr. Kolt from Kolt Chiropractic and he's PHENOMENAL!!! read more

I injured my neck surfing a few years ago which resulted in bulging discs in my neck. I went through months of no surgical decompression with Dr.Karr. I haven't been to a chiropractor for the past few years since the one I went to retired. I've looked for a chiropractor who practices more than one technique for treating a bulged / herniated disk for a friend and liked what I read about Dr Karr at West Los Angeles Chiropractic. Recently I developed a back pain and tightness that wouldn't go away and requires chiropractic adjustments and I came to Dr Karr. I'm very pleased so far. I've had a few adjustments by Dr Karr and the condition have already improved so it's not bothering me constantly. He'll be using x rays and MRI images (MRI done elsewhere) to identify problems areas in my spine which cause some of the pain and where a treatment for disk conditions will be used. This is a fantastic family chiropractic practice... yes, there are still places like this on the Westside. Personalized, knowledgeable, friendly, welcoming, and definitely no gimmicks or pressure. They accept insurance, take PI liens, and I see signs posted that offer finance options. This practice has been here for decades. Betty, the office manager, is always available to answer questions (she calls you back immediately if you leave a voicemail) and is super friendly, as well as, bilingual (Spanish). Dr Karr is professional, a dedicated practitioner and has a great bedside manner. He listens to all your concerns and tries to help you feel better, live your best life and not let your pain and/or symptoms prevent you from doing so. He is knowledgeable with all types of athletic injuries as well. The office is clean, has great ambience with lots of windows, soft lighting, open spaces, and is nestled in a zen-like garden setting with relaxing music flowing throughout the office. There is a parking lot behind the building, as well as convenient street parking. They offer x-rays, decompression, distraction, a full body/arm/leg massage chair as well as adjustments and physiotherapy. I have been coming to this practice for years....some years I need it more than others, depending on how I feel and my activity levels. If I could give more stars I would! I needed to see a Chiropractor right away because I had a pinched nerve that came out of nowhere. It was very painful to move my head. I called the next day and I found Dr. Karr on Yelp. I was pleasantly surprised when I spoke to Betty and I explained my situation and She said She could get me seen in an hour. Parking was easy and the office is located in such a beautiful location. I felt at ease as soon as I arrived. Dr Karr and Betty were so caring, knowledgable, trustworthy and professional. The office is very clean, up to date, organized, and had such a nice ambiance with really good music. I was seen right away and I received a thorough consultation, X-rays, therapy and adjustments that day. Dr Karr listened to my needs. I was a little nervous because I had a a lot of pain. After the treatment I felt much better than I had before and I was even able to go to work later that day. I found out the next day unfortunately my insurance would not be able to cover my sessions. I went back to go over my X-rays and let them know I would have to find another Dr. In my network. Dr Karr was understanding and so kindly went over my X-rays which had the pinched nerve findings and a couple other issues related to my neck, He gave me suggestions for when I go to another Chiropractor in my network. I thought about what we had discussed and I really did not want to go to another Chiropractor, because I felt so comfortable and I was feeling so much better. We went over pricing, and He let me know the cost if I were to pay out of pocket and it was so reasonable. I decided to go to Dr. Karr for therapy and I couldn't be happier about the treatment. It has been about over 3 weeks now and I have no more neck pain. I still have more sessions included in my package. It was the best decision to continue with Dr. Karr and Betty. Drs. Karr & Lau make a terrible team. Of course Betty is running the show though. The professionalism and love for what they do is felt. This is one of the last real doctors you'll see before you loose everything to the next generation of In & Out offices that don't give you the time of day. I came in for hip and leg pain that has been in my life for many years off and on. As the years passed though the pain has become much more of an issue. I went to see Dr. Karr and noticed relief immediately but the pain didn't go away completely. Dr. Karr said it go be completely gone and told me the first week of treatment that if the pain didn't disappear completely, he would order an MRI, so he did. Dr. Karr was right, I had a disc herniations with a disc bulge pressing on the nerve that goes down my leg. Dr. Karr suggested Non Surgical Spinal Decompression to continue my treatment. He provided a lot of information for me to research it. I spoke with friends who had back surgery and learned that with insurance they still paid about 20% co pay, so for a back surgery of about $150K, I'd have to pay roughly $30,000. Dr. Karr was a fraction of that, but most people aren't doing the math besides, doing surgery wasn't an option. Surgery was never an option but Dr. Karr told me if I had taken the leg pain more seriously 10 years ago, the damages to the disc would probably be a lot less and thus much easier to treat. I didn't know but made perfect sense. Why hadn't other doctors recommended the DRX9000 Spinal Decompression before? I was told years ago not to worry about it. Darn. I wish I got other opinions but I was young and not really thinking about it. I always thought it would go away, but each time it came back it was always the same type of pain , so I kinda had a feeling something was wrong but was in denial. Anyways, I did the spinal decompression and have zero pain. I'm glad I met Dr. Karr and highly recommend him. Get a second opinion at a minimum. It's a great office and staff. It's good energy and they have modern equipment and therapy's. By the way, I've been adjusted before for many years and Dr. Karr is the best Adjustor I've ever seen. Had been dealing with sciatic nerve pain in my left leg for over a year, had been to multiple physical therapists,orthopedic specialists, each stating a different diagnosis. After near 9 months of waiting I had received an mri, showing three herniated discs. After two corticosteroid injections, the specialists had said there was no hope besides surgery if the pain had not subsided. Thankfully, a friend of mine had recommended Dr.Karr.
