In terms of care, I really enjoyed being a patient here. This was my first experience as a patient in PHP/IOP. I was a patient for three months, dealing with mental disorder that impaired my functioning in work, school, social life, and self-care. You are assigned an individual therapist to meet with weekly and/or a case manager. You can request to switch individual therapists if you don't feel a good enough rapport between yourself and your assigned therapist. The group therapy schedule is pretty static week to week, but there is almost always a choice between two groups, so you have some ability to "customize" your schedule. I didn't enjoy all facilitators, but I enjoyed most and learned a lot about how to manage and process my emotions/thoughts/behaviors/traumas. The psychiatric team put me on the first medication combination in my life that really worked for my specific set of symptoms. They are courteous and attentive. They remember even non-clinical details about me when we meet weekly. Mission Harbor is also much more affordable (in my opinion) than other centers offering similar care. I paid my insurance's deductible--with which Mission Harbor provided flexibility due to my personal financial hardship--and the team was diligent with handling my disability insurance claim in a timely manner. I would recommend Mission Harbor to anyone looking to seriously challenge their mental disorders and carve a path to a better way of living and thinking! I would even readmit if I felt I needed the care and support again.

Despite the luxury branding and high price tag, the environment was chaotic, inconsistent, and driven far more by money than by genuine recovery support. I was repeatedly lied to about payment amounts, discharge dates, and even room assignments. Information changed constantly depending on who you talked to, and there was no transparency or accountability. Oro creates a two‑tier system where anyone without deep pockets is treated like a second‑class citizen. My experience with the shift lead Matt was that he would arbitrarily make rules out of thin air with no reasoning or rational. My recovery was affected by the drama and fraternization constantly occurring. Despite having rules against fraternization, it happened constantly. Cliques, relationships, and drama were nonstop making it extremely difficult to focus on actual recovery. I had terrible interactions with one admissions staff member, Jody, who evicted me with little notice despite having said previously I'd be able to stay longer. It was clear that she wanted new clients that would pay more. In my opinion, Oro Recovery Center presents itself as a supportive, structured, luxury rehab. In reality, it operates like a business prioritizing high‑paying clients while disregarding fairness, consistency, and genuine recovery needs. If you're only going to rehab because your parents are threatening to cut off your trust fund and you want a vacation disguised as treatment, Oro will probably suit you perfectly. But if you are serious about your recovery, I cannot recommend Oro Recovery Center in any way.

While we appreciate the efforts of the staff and recognize the challenges involved in providing care and support, we encountered ongoing difficulties with communication throughout our family member's stay. Communication with the assigned case manager was often limited, and requests for updates regarding our loved one's progress and well-being were not always acknowledged or addressed in a timely manner. As family members, we relied on these updates to remain informed and reassured. The lack of consistent communication frequently left us uncertain about his status and concerned for his overall well-being. In addition, maintaining direct contact with our family member proved challenging at times. Multiple attempts were made to obtain information and establish communication, but responses were often delayed or unavailable. This created unnecessary stress and uncertainty for those of us who were actively involved in supporting his care and recovery. We also received feedback from our family member, as well as observations shared by other residents, indicating that some interactions with case management staff could have benefited from greater patience, attentiveness, and responsiveness. While we understand that staff members manage significant responsibilities, respectful and compassionate communication plays a critical role in fostering trust and supporting residents effectively. Equally important is the partnership between a facility and a resident's family. Families are often the primary source of emotional support, advocacy, and continuity of care for their loved ones. Maintaining open communication and working collaboratively with family members helps ensure the best possible outcomes for residents and strengthens the support system that contributes to their success. Family involvement should be viewed as an essential component of the care process rather than an afterthought. These comments are offered respectfully and constructively, with the hope that they may assist in enhancing communication practices, strengthening family engagement, and improving the overall experience for both residents and their loved ones.

Today I attended the WeHo Pride Parade Watch event at Creative Recovery LA. The space is airy and…read morewelcoming, the atmosphere feels not only inviting but well lit with natural sunlight and furnished with chic modern decor. Everyone there was very nice and made my friend and I feel right at home. It's on the second floor above the Fresh Corn Grill so it wasn't too hard to find. As we walked in, we were greeted by a friendly pup. We removed our shoes as everyone else had, and entered the main room. There was plenty of tasty breakfast goodies to snack on as folks introduced themselves. The space was clean and smelled of sage which felt rejuvenating. We met the owner, Cory, who invited us to a sound bath session. Some of the folks sitting at the tables let us know to bring tissues... I was not expecting to need them and did not wear waterproof mascara that day, I still grabbed the tissues and went on. The sound bath room was equipped with comfy pillow like seats on the ground. The room had acoustics that transformed me into state where I felt like my seated body was one with the music. As the sounds continued I felt a deep connection with myself that I could not describe, which made me glad I listened and grabbed those tissues. I am thankful for Cory and the staff here, that sound bath was the best thing that's happened to me all year. It was better than any meditation or reiki session out there. I cannot thank you all enough. If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health or addiction and in need of help unlocking those feelings to unblock your spirit, this is the place for you.
