My wife and I stopped into West Main Diner on Saturday, December 20, 2025. For an early Saturday morning, this place was absolutely jamming. Solid diner, good food, and a great local vibe. We both went with eggs and bacon--I had the grits and she chose the potatoes. I'm always happy to see grits on the menu, especially at a diner in the Northeast--that's a big plus in my book. We had breakfast at the West Main Diner on 5/30/26. Scrambled eggs were bland and tasteless, the whole wheat toast tasted like newspaper, and the coffee was at best so-so. The only bright spot was the home fries, which were decent. When asked if I enjoyed the meal at checkout and I replied, "Not really", there was no attempt at recovery at all. My husband, who is Serv Safe certified and in the high-end food business, reported that the kitchen was dirty. We will not be returning. We finally dined here recently, after driving by so many times. Our experience was very good! We'd score it closer to a 4.5, with the only real minus for not accepting credit cards. We frequent area diners for a solid breakfast/lunch meal, West Main is perfect in that regard. Very friendly/efficient staff and a menu with all of the expected diner choices. Not much to look at outside but a homey feel inside. The food here is good, in some cases excellent. The omelets we had on a couple of occasions were perfectly done, their pancakes are a nice mix of cakey and light. A menu special breakfast sandwich on a pretzel roll was fantastic. My mom was getting me from the train so we chose this place because it's right there. It's cheap but that's kinda where it ends. I got the two eggs and meat breakfast. My home fries just tasted kinda gross. I didn't finish them. Reasonable price but the sandwich my mom's husband got looked like a McDonald's McMuffin. A little sad. None of it was very tasty. West Main Diner in Lansdale, looks like a traditional Pennsylvania urban luncheonette, but also serves as a community meeting hall. On Sunday morning it was almost full house with seniors enjoying their social life with friends and neighbors. There were younger families, too, but white hairs predominated. Why? Because even with post pandemic inflation coming under control, food prices are still higher than before, and you get more bang for your buck here. For people on fixed or other retirement income, West Main Diner is about the only welcome sign on the horizon. For this, it deserves a lot of credit. Beyond that, the grub there is pretty darn good as well. I sat at the counter in one of eight spinners overlooking the short order grill and coffee operation. Always the best place in the house for a solo traveler wanting breakfast. Menu and coffee arrived quickly. Debbie, my server answered my questions and took my order with pleasant demeanor. The house was busy, so it took almost 15 minutes for my Country Omelet (sausage, tomato, onion, green pepper, hash browns and rye toast) to arrive before me. No problem. The activity in the dining room and at the grill kept me entertained. I watched my omelet being assembled as the cook and her assistants joked with each other. When placed before me, it was steaming. Some black pepper and shakes of Tabasco, and I was ready to dive in. The eggs were perfectly moist and packed with ingredients. The taters were crispy and the rye toast buttered well. Liked it all very much. The only shortcomings were the issue around Yelp offering a free coffee @ check in, when that perk didn't exist according to management, and not being offered more coffee when I had bottom-upped my mug before finishing the meal. My sense was that they were closing at 2, and she wanted to start cleaning up her station at the counter and wanted me out of the way. I can understand that, but how much better to offer a refill and work around me for a few more minutes? This institution is still worthy of high grades despite minor inconvenience. read more

I think the hours were adjusted but the menu was short & sweet. The home fries were hearty and well seasoned & the pancakes were rich with buttermilk. This really would be a 3.5 rating, but I rounded up since Yelp doesn't allow that. I've been in here a few times in the 2 years I've been back in the area. The food is average-good depending on when and what. The service has always been great! A really friendly staff is something I've experienced every time. Pricing is steep for portion and taste and I feel this may be a big part of the lower ratings. It seems there's an upcharge for everything rather than prices being adjusted accordingly on the menu. On my most recent visit I got the country omelette. The veggies seemed fresh and I like that they use local Hatfield sausage, but there was no seasoning to the food. Not even salt and pepper. I will come back every now and then because I'd love to see a local business making the proper changes in order to thrive! read more

The food was fine. I usually have high hope's for diners but this one was pretty basic. My waffle was delicious. The home fries could have used more seasoning though. The service is just okay though. Our server was Joanne I believe. It took a while to place our orders and she is more hands off when it comes to checking on customers. She may not be the warmest but she definitely gets her job done. I'm glad I tried this place though. The biggest downer is they do not have turkey breakfast items. Don't pass by this place. It sits in a small dated shopping plaza and would be easy to drive past. The inside betrays the worn out exterior; it is warm, clean and inviting. Service was quick and friendly and the omelet was very good. A good home cooked breakfast for about a dollar or two more than you would pay for fast food. I really wish the owners of West Main would have kept a location in Ambler. This place is AWESOME! The restaurant sits in a building that looks like it used to be an Autozone store. The open kitchen lines the far fall when you enter and the restaurant area is very large. After several friends that live in Lansdale urged me to stop in I did on a Sunday morning in February around 11 am. We were seated right as we walked in and our server Jim came right over to grab our drink orders. The menu is simple and compact. After a quick look I went with the breakfast sampler. You get the following for $6.95 (2) Eggs (1) Pancake or (1) French Toast (1) sausage, pork roll or ham Home Fries My girlfriend and I both ordered the sampler so I had the chance to sample the pancake and french toast. Both were fantastic! The portions were amble and I didn't leave hungry. The service was top notch and everyone was overly friendly. We see the same customers and familiar faces time and time again. We have come to regard them as friends. The food: For breakfast, their specials are excellent and worth trying. Many homemade bakery items are available for takeout. Try the cinnamon buns, they're excellent. My gold standard for any breakfast diner is the coffee and the home fries. Visited this place with a friend. Chose the west main diner because I have never ate there before in my years residing in lansdale. I wasn't pleased. My friend ordered waffels and replied no to whether she wants syrup, I was baffled someone wouldnt want syrup with their waffles. While talking to my friend later she revealed there was a 50 cent charge for syrup and thats why she didnt want any. I ordered a rueban sandwich. I wanted to add a vegetable but they were going to charge me an additional 75 cents. I do not ordering my sanwiches from places who up sells the price to add a couple slices of tomatoe. I think attempts to be healthy should be rewarded not taxed. Also the menu said they charge and additional 2.50 if any ones shares from the same plate at the table. The final factor that lead to my 2 star review is they don't accept credit of debit card. Its 2017, I hardly ever find restaurants not accepting plastic payment. This family-run diner has become a Sunday morning breakfast tradition for me. The fare is about what you'd expect from one of the "non-chain" area diners but their daily specials really make the menu. Everything from the French toast breakfast sandwich to the pumpkin waffle (my personal favorite) make walking in the door a pleasant mystery. Was here for business, had to talk to the owner for a bit. Stopped in early to grab an omelette & didn't expect all that much. Very surprised - veggie omelette was great, side of breakfast sausage ruled (they use Hatfield sausage so you know it's good) & the potatoes were to die for. Seriously, I'm crazy about potatoes - especially breakfast potatoes & hash browns - and these ruled. When I got to talk to the owner, I mentioned to him how awesome the potatoes were. His face lit up - and he went on to tell me the whole process that they have which makes their breakfast potatoes so awesome. He taught me something too - potatoes come out a lot better when they're older & they've sat for a while. Had something to do with the sugar content - I can't remember now. The Sausage was awful. The hot chocolate was delicious. They had no milkshakes. What diner doesn't have milkshakes?? I like warm weather and it was a bit of summer in here. I didn't mind. I've been going here for breakfast every weekend for a couple of weeks and I must say if you want a place that you can get a great bang for you buck this is for you. For breakfast I highly suggest the "West Main Sampler". The only draws backs I have are that they do not accept credit cards, so make sure you bring cash. As well as when you first walk in there seems to be a lot of wait staff but most of the employees are either busing/ expediting or talking in groups some where in the restaurant. If only they would hire more waiters/waitresses and cut back on the chitchat groups their great food would be matched with great customer service. read more

I asked the server to recommend a breakfast as if this was going to be my one and only experience eating here. She recommended the sausage gravy and an English muffin bread French toast. Okay, fine. These are not my usual favorite breakfast foods, but I put my trust in her hands and ordered both. OMG! I have never tasted better sausage gravy! I didn't know it could ever taste this good! And the French toast was incredible, expertly drizzled with a mild caramel sauce. I was really blown away, and everyone at my table raved about their breakfasts: omelettes and home fries. I went there for breakfast today. The decor is really cute-1950's style diner. Friendly waitstaff. I was seated quickly, and had a very nice young waiter. I ordered the western omelet. It came with home fries and toast. I was served quickly. The food was hot and good. I made the mistake of failing to mention that I did not want onions, but oh well, that was my mistake. It's located in a small shopping center on Main St. The place started hopping just after we were seated: we beat the "rush hour" apparently. The place has the classic look of a diner. The food, unfortunately, did not live up to our expectations. No eggs benedict on menu to begin with, so I ordered two eggs/bacon/home fries plate. The bacons were stiff as a board and cold.
