Hidden gem! Good food and reliable service. Not noisy or overly crowded. A real down home comfortable place.

We moved a bit further away but totally worth the 30min drive- it's just a little treat for ourselves during the week when we don't have the kids. Anything and everything is fantastic on the menu. They have your typical breakfast but also varying options, and ingredients mixed together that you wouldn't think would be delicious, but it is. Seasonal menu changes- it screws me up every time bc there are too many good options and I have difficulty choosing just one. Obviously, coffee is local and delicious. Any toast/muffin that comes with a meal is always homemade, or from a local bakery. Staff is always super friendly and very attentive. Update- I started this review months ago and never posted (lol oops!). Came back on to make sure I have raved about this place. If I was on death row, Sammy's would be on my list of last meals. Can't get enough of this place.

The flavor combo in this is perfect, with the garlic bread base, the crispy mozzarella, the perfectly poached eggs, sauce and veggies. It all compliments each other so well. It came with a very fresh and seasonal fruit cup. We have come to expect absolute perfection from Sammy's dishes and this was no exception. We also tried the new zucchini fritters from the lunch menu, but were so excited to try them, I forgot to take a pic. They are described on the menu as zucchini fritters with cheese, but really they are fried cheese with zucchini, which is definitely how I like it. Idk what the sauce is that it comes with but i would eat it with a spoon! They are a definite hit and I plan to order them every time I go, with an extra side of sauce.

This historic location was a rest and play stop for literary and theater New Yorkers in the 20s and 30s and probably beyond -- check out the famous signatures and notes in the albums in the main living room. The owners keep a handful of rescued farm animals (pot-bellied pigs, mini ponies, goats), and it is clear they are well cared for. It is a busy place for big wedding events now, and so we like to stay during the week. It is very relaxing to walk around the grounds. We saw a giant heron in the pond and deer strolling. There are so many nice places to sit outside with a bottle of wine and a book or snacks. Rooms are very unique and comfortable. You have a lot of different personalities to choose from: lofts, cabins, barn spaces, etc. Many have jacuzzis which can provide your evening entertainment, lol. We have not eaten in the restaurant because our top restaurant on earth is very close by, but when it was closed, Josh gave us great recommendations. And he made a lovely tofu scramble for breakfast as a special request. One sweet touch: despite checking the room, we left without my spouse's expensive phone charger. Housekeeping found it and ran after us before we could drive off without it. She did not have to do that. Always tip your housekeeping staff. The extended Covid months have been very hard on inns, restaurants, and event spaces, and it must be stressful for them as things come back to life when so many events have been postponed. It is wonderful to be back out again. We will return -- a lot.

The Barley Sheaf is very serious about pandemic precautions, so masks are in full effect, and they'll walk you to your socially-distanced table in a beautiful, outdoor gardening setting. The inn itself is an architectural delight, as well, so you are surrounded by beauty on all sides. Service was pleasant and forthcoming. I wouldn't say that this is the finest level of dining, of course, you're not expecting EMP in the middle of Bucks County, but this is a good attempt, and people are pleasant and quite dignified. The guests were all well attired and the crowd is polite and kind. Food is of the adventurous character, which I enjoy. A lot of different flavor combinations (they like to do salé and sucré), beautiful plating, interesting textures, and good cooking techniques. My favorites were the octopus appetizer (so buttery soft and tender, which is a rarity) and the pheasant special, which was a pleasant and apropos surprise in this outdoor, country setting. Finally, this is a BYOB restaurant with perfectly selected wine glasses, fine silverware, and other special touches such as a freshly starched linens, etc. which elevate the dining experience.

I also tried the soup of the day which is the chicken corn chowder and I highly enjoyed it. It's a very small cafe and not much room to move about so when it's packed it gets pretty noisy. The couple things I want to note are around how long it was to wait for a table and food. We arrived in the area around 1125am and I called to place my name on the wait-list. Upon answering, the hostess informed me you have to place your name on the waitlist in person. No issue, I walked over to do this. Only to find out that the waitlist is monitored by Yelp, which can easily be done online. So that was very frustrating to see at the start. We then were told to wait 15-20 minutes. When we got to the front of the list, they then informed us that we needed to wait an additional 20-30 minutes as the kitchen needed to flip. This was very confusing and a big turn off. Eventually, I spoke with a woman who allowed us to come inside and sit down instead of waiting outside for over an hour. It would have been nice to know at the outset of this whole interaction that breakfast wasn't going to be an option and then it would be an hour before we could order and eat. At the end of the day, we ate our great food and enjoyed being able to dine at this place. I will just look into a few more places on my next visit here.

If you're just looking for a simple, no-frills meal, it'll do - but if you're after something special, you might want to keep searching Ralph's itself was serviceably clean yet not exactly sparkling. The menu was as basic as it gets, with no specials or anything to make the offerings stand out. A blackboard with daily features could have added some much-needed variety. Service was similarly uninspired. The staff was polite but not particularly warm or attentive. Our coffee cups sat empty for far too long, and we sat for quite some time, waiting for refills that never came. Oddly enough, the highlight of the experience wasn't the food but another waitress, who cheerfully sang along with the radio. She seemed to be the only one genuinely enjoying her job, and we couldn't help but wish she had been our server. As for the food? It was edible. Nothing was bad, but not memorable either. I was in Quakerstown to scout out the route the Big Boy steam engine will be taking from Philadelphia westward to Wyoming, and I asked Yelp for dinner recommendations. I decided to give Kathy's a try and was very glad I did. The place is small, with a small dining room with it's own entrance next to the storefront that sells the sweets (ice cream and milkshakes). The food was very good - I had a chili that was not bland nor too spicy, and had my first apple dumpling in over 30 years - it was outstanding - the pastry crust was just sweet enough. I'll definitely be back again.

Terrific across the board! It's funny how you end up at places sometimes. We chose Kathy's…read morespecifically for its location (halfway in between our house and a friend's), and that, other than the fact that they serve breakfast, was the only criterion. But what we got was breakfast awesomeness. It's small, with a cozy, "country" feel, as you might expect. Cute. Coffee was strong and plentiful, served in those great diner-style mugs that keep things piping hot for a good long time. Servers were totally on top of their game (the place was jumpin' so they really had to be) and all had that combination of "I'm super nice and glad you're here, but don't you dare slow me down" goodness. And the food? The food was fantastic! Each of the five people in our group got something different, and everyone was super happy with what they got, from cinnamon-raisin French toast with apple butter to a garden vegetable skillet to corned beef hash eggs Benedict. I went simple with a breakfast sandwich with a fluffy scrambled egg, thick-cut pork roll, and Cooper sharp on the lightest, airiest Kaiser roll I've ever had. And do no sleep on their thick cut bacon, which is meaty and delicious and coated in a buttery mapley goodness that tasted like Heaven. Things to note: they only take cash, and on the weekends, there's an hour limit (meaning you can't dawdle) so they don't have lines piling up outside. Breakfast for five of us was just under $80, so reasonably priced. We had a great time. And the next time we go, it'll be because it's just a great spot.
