This review has more to do with West Marine in general as opposed to this location (although I did call them only to be told the item I ordered online was out of stock in my size). So here it goes: I took advantage of a recent 25% off sale that applied to Aftco Barracuda Geo Cool long sleeve shirts and ordered both a blue and silver color. I was excited about catching a break with a great deal. When I placed the order on the site, it said that both items were in stock. I received an order confirmation email and then a few hours later it said that both items were backordered and gave me a month lead time to expect a ship date. I was less than thrilled about this but decided to wait it out because of the great price. Two days later, I received another email stating that the gray shirt had shipped and the blue shirt was being "fulfilled by vendor" with "no tracking available at this time." I wrote an email to customer service describing exactly what had happened complete with the applicable screenshots and asked for an explanation. I still have yet to receive a response. I ended up calling customer service the following day. I waited 5 minutes and then opted for a call back when a representative would be available to help as there were 51 people ahead of me. (I know we are all going through a rough time so I didn't mind waiting). I got a call back an hour later, and the Customer Service agent was very informative, friendly and patient. She explained that the blue shirt that was being "fulfilled by vendor" was shipping for another store that had the item in stock. She provided me with tracking info (which should have been updated on the website at this point) and told me that my online order would reflect the update in the next day or so. At this point, I thought that the problem was solved. I was a tad bummed out that the blue shirt would be five days later as I had a trip planned where I would be utilizing these shirts but figured that I'd at least have the one that was arriving the next day. When I received the package and eagerly opened it I was extremely disappointed to find that West Marine had shipped a 2XL instead of a M. I immediately called customer service and repeated the same process as before: 5 minutes of dead air wait time and then 40 minutes for a return call... Again the agent was very nice and respectful and advised that I wait until I received the blue shirt to make sure it was correct (even though he confirmed I ordered two Medium shirts) and then take it back for an exchange to a West Marine brick and mortar close to me. Unfortunately, I didn't have the luxury of waiting as I ordered the shirt specifically for a trip. Every WM in NJ was out of stock. Rather than go through the hassle of waiting again, I simply returned the shirt to the closest WM and am praying that the one coming on Saturday is the right size. This order process is way too convoluted and too much of a waste of time. Sadly, I will refrain from ordering from West Marine again. read more

I went to this store to make a return, it out turned that they charged me again for another purchase. I went back to the store when I saw my charge online. We went to the register and they sent us to the Mgr he said he couldnt do any thing and for me to call their 800# well I have been on hold for 20 minutes and still no help, wait a minute should'nt the store mgr helped me when I was in the store instead of just blowing me off read more

Customer service is not there. Went today to buy a Garmin fish finder for $899.00 plus a transducer for $300.00 well after waiting for someone to help in electronics for at least a half hour i found one of there employe in the paint section and asked him for help he said he will call some one. After waiting for another 15 minutes i went to the parts dept and asked them for help. They said someone will be right there well waited another 15 to 20 minutes and no one shows. The guy in paint was still there on his cell phone and could not be bothered. I guess they don't need a sale like this. Other people were also looking for help and received none. When a store gets this big and can not help the customer its a shame. I spent a lot of money at west marine but they got my last dollar ever.... read more

Been in this location twice , once to buy some line and the second time to purchase a whole lot more (battery , trolling motor , ect) . The sales would have been up around 5-6 hundred dollars easily . Sadly , I was once again followed around the store and watched as if I were going to spring out the door with a cart full of gear . Shame on them . Maybe they are used to a higher level of customers or maybe they are just a bunch a d*** faces . read more

Great selection but the prices are way out of line. Needed a couple of new bumpers for my boat and was shocked to see basic bumpers in the $35 range. Went over to Walmart and got the similar bumpers for $7 each, and they held up just fine. Same issue buying rope. I won't pay 4-5 times more than what I can pay online or somewhere else. Not sure how they stay in business. read more
