The staff were super friendly and helpful, one going out of her way to help me find the right bibs to wear on my fishing trip. Love this store. I am a new'ish boat owner and the staff has always been very helpful. They have just about everything you could need to outfit your boat plus a great selection of clothing and water sports gear. Only call out is lock your car securely and don't leave anything in it, the ambient Oregonian zombies are omnipresent at the off ramps. read more

I've about had it with this West Marine. Yesterday I needed some RV Antifreeze as it happened to be snowing and freezing here in Portland. I guess they decided to close an hour plus early. I guess I should have called first but what would have been the point as all I would have gotten was a voice mail maze and not a real person on the phone. I guess I should expect less out of a clothing store. West Marine really is my choice of last resort for marine supplies. Their prices are crazy high. Their service is horrible. Most of their sales staff is clueless when you can find them. The only good points is there is always someone at the register to take your money if you can find what you need. I wish Fisheries Supply would have opened a store where the new West Marine store is. There is a night and day difference between the selection and customer service. read more

I've Been here many times thru the years as I recall since the early 90's sometime? But could have been a little earlier than that even? And have bought lots of things everything including fishing gear, camping or outdoor cooking such as my Big chief smoker which I still have now passing 20 years and still use ! Buyer Beware!!! They don't stand behind their product when delivered. I ordered a 9' dinghy and paid an extra $100 for delivery. It arrived damaged and they offered me 20% off my purchase price, not even refunding the delivery cost or offering a replacement. There are two long deep gouges at the bow and I'm concerned it may leak. Don't EVER order an item for delivery from this company. I recommend an in store purchase. If it must be shipped choose a different marine supplier, there are plenty! read more

I picked up some marine based epoxy and hardener for my slab countertop, I've always known West Marine to be on the pricey side when it come to boating items, but after running short of epoxy and needing more, I thought I'd just check on line to see how much it would be and discovered it was $69 for the same product. I get theres an overhead to consider, but more than twice as much just feels like I took it in the shorts. Not too pleased. read more

I want better customer service from West Marine. I want to see the sales associates treat all customers with respect. I would spend a lot more money if I were treated better. An employee is usually rude or condescending at some point during my customer experience. That is the exact point I head for the register or put items back and leave. read more

Over priced. It's a huge store but they never seem to have anything in stock. The staff don't seem to know about the products they sell. Most of their inventory seems to cater towards the million dollar plus yacht demographic. Occasionally they will have a decent sale on some "generic" west marine branded basics - but for the most part this store is pretty useless for most family boating or fishing. For example, I have a Honda marine motor which has been made for a decade and is still a current model for Honda (as of 2014). On a boat that is only 6 months old. This store even has trouble looking it up, let alone finding parts. Yet every online boat parts store seems to find it OK - just this place. Seriously, it's just not a helpful store. read more

I needed to pull the prop on my Volvo Penta outdrive (not uncommon) which requires a special tool. They had never heard of such a thing. I thought they might know a little about changing a prop since they sell them.... NOPE! Also needed an impeller, so I brought my manual into the store (which has the part number in it) and showed a guy what I needed. I bought the one he handed me and drove home (30 minutes away), took my impeller off of my engine and guess what. They sold me the wrong part!!! read more

Drove 90 minutes because the guy on the phone said they had uncured raw coon shrimp, PRE-CURED, or CURED does not mean raw and/or uncured. You think that the unnatural pink and green colors would give it away, luckily Sportsman's Warehouse was only 15 minutes away from these incompetent people. If you are going to sell something please know what you are talking about. read more

First, I got some overconfident young punk that sold me the wrong thrust washer for my outboard (after I gave him the serial # for the motor) Then, I when I tried to return the part I was told they couldn't look up the purchase based on my credit card number. This is a basic function for any retailer these days. The place was completely empty and I still got the stinky treatment. Based on other reviews perhaps this is why. I'm going to Fishermans Marine next time and you should too. read more

I called and checked on part availability for an oil pressure switch for my outboard motor. I gave them all the information they asked for. I live in Vernonia. That's over an hour drive. When I went to pick up my part it was the wrong one . I wasn't a happy camper. If I had known they didn't have the part I could have saved lots of gas. I could also had the part here a day sooner. I had to order it from a good marine store. Stevens Marine to be exact. It will thanks to West Marine's incompetence Thursday before I get my part. I have been waiting all winter for this weather and one extra boatless day sucks. When I told the parts man I had given the same information to the person I talked to earlier and had drove there from Vernonia I was told in a very smug tone that"you didn't talk to me". That is a truly insulting response. I will never set foot in that store again. They recently moved into a shiny new store. With that kind of service I wouldn't have ever built a new store. read more

I love there swim selection. They carry the best selection for women. If you are looking for bikini, wet suit, googles, swim cap, and all at regular retail price. You can't find these select styles and brands anywhere else in this area. You can also bring your dog in to shop with you because they're pet friendly. Their dog selection is also great with top quality selection. They have awesome and cool stuff there, I wish I could buy everything. read more

To preface this I'd like to say I never post on review sites good or bad. However that being said I've had enough of this store. The two times I went in weren't pleasant. The first time they had gloves on sale. I took them to the register and they rang up at full price and I was told they weren't. I went and got the placard that said they were and they gave them to me for the sale price. I understand things happen. I went in again looking for some Sperry topsiders and they had some on sale. I took them to the register and they rang up at full price. I again went and got the placard saying there were on sale. After about 10 minutes of rummaging around the checker determined that because they were a wide they weren't on sale. To clarify I asked, "if a pair of shoes was in the sale area with others of the same make and model because they were wide they weren't on sale"? I was informed they had a different SKU number. I was then informed he didn't decide what was on sale and what wasn't. Wow is all I can say to that. Hopefully the Tigard store has staff that actually keep up on their product displays and understands what customer service is. read more
