First day of a new job Lunch!…read more New to this side of town and stopped in here for a little comfort of something I recognized. The Atmosphere - Well it was clean and tidy. Again there is little personality to most locations these days yet the functionality and the ability to clean quickly is at a premium. But, there is little about the restaurant that is comfortable or memorable. So this gets the standard 3 stars. The Staff - I had the good fortune to interact with several of the staff members this time. And ALL of them were extremely nice, kind, and friendly. They went out of their way to check on me several times and remind me that I could get a refill on my drink. They gall at the checkout even offered to bring me the desert that I had on rewards that was set to expire soon. Some of the best Customer Service I have seen in a while. - 5 stars. The Food - Well this is the number one reason to swing in. They have a number of great creations and options to pick more than one. They do let you customize a sandwich should you want. I think this is as good as it gets (unless you head to a "real" deli where YOU decide what is on the sandwich. This visit I had the Pick 2 (which is common) where I had a fantastic Club sandwich and a Chef salad. Pretty healthy over all. (I used extra dressing and ate brookie bites so scratch the healthiness). 4 stars Overall - This was a fantastic visit to an old favorite. The food could have just a little more wow... and by now you all know how I feel about the clean/institutional look and feel of eateries. A perfect lunch space. I'll be back often as they are good, healthyish, and close.

It's in a shopping centre so if you're a shopaholic you may overlook it, but it's a great place for lunch to get ready for an afternoon of shopping. Tommy and the Tastebuds Captain Tom

Bay Boy - Club sandwich with toasted gf bun and smoked Gouda

Bay Boy is THAT Boy! I'm thrilled to have another location of Bay Boy in the Northland, which is…read moresuch an up and coming neighborhood. This Bay Boy is a small window located inside The Commons which is connected to Cinderblock Brewery but, don't be fooled by its small stature it still carries the full menu of the West Plaza location. The one thing it boasts is you can grab a brew from with The Commons bar or from Cinderblock while your sandwich is crafted. And don't fret because these sandwiches are well worth any wait they may take! What makes Bay Boy utterly unforgettable is the Dutch crunch bread. This unique crackly slightly crunchy but still, oh so pillowy soft bread is the perfect vessel to hold all the fillings of any of the sandwiches on the extensive menu. My number one recommendation sadly is not always on the menu but if you catch it you better order it! It is called The Blue Blaze and it consists of juicy white meat turkey, peppery arugula, melty mild white cheddar and locally sourced spicy blueberry jam. It's the perfect combination of sweet and savory with a kick. Another winner is the Wagyu Nebraskan if you want a bougie take on a Rueben. The Wagyu corned beef is locally sourced and is melt in your mouth paired with a slightly sweet kraut, nutty Swiss cheese and the tangy thousand island this sandwich is an elevated take on a classic. Another winner, well let's just face it any sandwich at Bay Boy is a winner winner chicken dinner (in the words of the iconic Guy Fieri), but let's focus on another rift of a classic sandwich the El Jefe. This is Bay Boy's take on a Cubano but unlike its predecessor the bread isn't flat or pressed it's on a Dutch crunch roll like every sandwich on the menu. The mojo pork is buttery and fatty- in a good way- making the meat so moist that combined with salty ham, melted Swiss and zingy briny pickles makes for a killer combination. Don't forget the mustard! And how Bay Boy makes it there own is with an addition of a zesty vibrant red pepper sauce. You can't help but to love El Jefe. I could go on and on about how each sandwich is unparalleled but, I'll just bore you with one more...The Bay Boy, I couldn't cover Bay Boy's without mentioning the sandwich that the restaurant was named after (or was it the other way around) anyways it doesn't matter. The Bay Boy is a cold sandwich (unlike the other ones I mentioned which are all toasty) which may sound simple but, the medley of flavors is paired down perfection. No pile of meats just stand alone Soppressata which shouldn't need any introduction because it's the superior salami. This sandwich gets sauced down with not one, not two but four sauces that make the sandwich anything but dry. Classic mayo and mustard are alongside a creamy pungent garlic sauce and a red pepper sauce, which is a mix of cherry and banana peppers. Then produce is added for freshness, think lettuce, tomato and zippy raw red onions (my personal favorite) with pickles of course! This truly is a sandwich masterpiece.

Finally made it over to Bay Boy in North Kansas City inside the Commons and yeah... I get why…read morepeople keep talking about it. It's a walk-up window, super lowkey, but the food is not playing. I got a turkey sandwich with gouda and peppers, added blueberry jam, and grabbed a bag of chips on the side. The bread is really what sets it off. Crunchy on the outside, soft in the middle, and it actually holds everything together. The turkey and gouda were solid, peppers gave it a little bite, and that blueberry jam added just enough sweetness to balance everything out without being weird about it. I paused after the first bite because it caught me off guard in a good way. Finished the whole thing, chips and all. Simple setup, really good food, and I'll absolutely be back.

Trying to capture how delicious everything was in one review is tough, but I'll give it my best. First off, customer service was outstanding--Lyssa truly knocked it out of the park. She was so delightful, and I couldn't help but laugh when we both got excited about my sandwich choice. These folks really know their stuff. They treat their animals with care and expertise, and it shows. Having been to many fine dining spots, I can honestly say the quality of meat here at The Upper Cut KC surpasses them all. I'm picky about my food and can tell great quality when I see it & taste it. The Upper Cut KC deserves way more than five stars--seriously, I mean it! I also tasted my daughter's brisket sandwich--absolutely tender beyond words. And don't miss their Mac & Cheese; it's worth a standing ovation! Do yourself a favor: just go and experience it! P.S.--The Butcher Shop inside brings back so many nostalgic memories.

4 star food, 3 star pricing and wait time…read more I'm not one to complian about pricing much but $31 for just this sandwich and small side is discouraging when compared to available options in the city. I thought the brisket sandwich was fairly tasty, but it wasn't huge, the onions weren't carmelized they were grilled, and the brisket wasn't smokey. The Mac and cheese was fine and good but not great. If I lived closer and I could get the above with a soda for $20-23, I would give it 4 stars. There's nothing amazing about it to earn 5 stars even if it were priced like I wish. The place wasn't that busy, but with one register running, 4 people in line, and ringing up 2 butcher orders that came in after I was there, it took me about 12 minutes to place the order and another 20 to have my sandwich and side.
