    Breakfast croissant with ham
    Laney B.

My favorite hole in the wall breakfast spot in KC! Their breakfast croissant is the best breakfast sandwich I have ever had. The croissant is the perfect combo of flaky and buttery, the eggs are well-seasoned, and the ham is juicy. I crave it on the daily! They also have delicious fresh pastries that sell out almost every day. I always snag one from the display case, especially a muffin. Another side I recommend is the breakfast potatoes. Great portion, good flavor, and served with sour cream. As a self-proclaimed French toast connoisseur, their French toast is tasty! It's a French toast bake, so it has a different consistency than your classic French toast. I personally don't prefer French toast casseroles, but this one was spongy, has good flavor, and the pecans are a great addition. The service is always friendly, albeit a little slow. You order at the counter and while there usually isn't a long line, there is only 1 register so if you come at a busy time, you may wait a while. I can't wait to come back and try the breakfast flatbread and a cinnamon roll!

I rarely review places I eat at, but this place is a true 5 star establishment. When it comes to service, they treat you like family. We arrived minutes before closing but we weren't turned away and we were able to enjoy our brunch with absolutely no rush. We have been trying to come back to this place since the pandemic changed its hours and we are so glad we made it today! They have such an original menu, that is constantly changing to bring you the freshest ingredients. Breakfast pizza is a must have either for yourself or as a sharable. It's super loaded and you can tell the crust is freshly baked. You CAN'T find anything like it in KC. If you get anything from this review, it has to be to try YST.

Biscuit and gravy. Pineapple (?) on the side. Everything looks infinitely better than it was.

I found the establishment's offerings to be ridiculously overpriced and very disappointing. By 11am on the Sunday that I went, they were sold out of the top 2 items I wanted to order. The best dish was the Apple Pie, which paled in comparison to that of Whole Foods, and was quadruple the price. The biscuits were chewy and the gravy was bland. The cheese grits were a joke compared to that of First Watch or almost anywhere else. Because of lack of viable breakfast options I ordered there lunch special, the chicken shawarma salad, which wasn't bad, but again was ridiculously overpriced for the very small portion size.

You say tomato, I say awesome! This is the definition of the quaint neighborhood eatery. It is literally la corer eatery with a sprinkling of grocery items, like fresh bread and at times local produce. I don't recall a single occasion that I had anything here that I did not toughly enjoy. Man the sweets here are delicious especially the pies. I especially like when the hot entrees' they are always part of a special so keep an eye on the board. You cannot go wrong with any of the staples though from the black bean burger or the Greek salad. That Greek salad is one of the best guilt free items I honestly seek it out if I am having a particularly unhealthy week. They have Coke's BlueSky line which are think pairs perfectly with their items, The BLT is extremely delicious and not to be missed. There sandwiches feature some of the freshest greens and the protein is top notch, none of that filler heavily salted mystery meats here. Anything you get here on a croissant is guaranteed to please. This place is a truly special place to be I have enjoyed some of the best lunches in KC either sitting next to the indoor foliage or going Parisian (of the plains) and dining on the little patio. It is always a joy to come here as the meals here always leave me in a state of bliss.

    Breakfast crossaint sandwich and potatoes

This place is OK. If you go in the colder months on a weekend morning, it can be extremely tough to find a table which makes for a more stressful brunch experience than I appreciate. Our latest venture had us waiting in a super long line and then all the tables filling up. Some women were taking up a four top for a half hour after they'd finished eating which had the whole group of people waiting for tables shooting daggers their way. We tried to go outside but it was just too cold and ended up sharing our table with some strangers. Not the worst thing of course but not ideal. The food is ok. I enjoy the breakfast crossaint sandwich but it's not the best breakfast sandwich out there. Everything is alright here but I recommend coming in the later spring months or summer time.

The first time I came here, my friend and I had to wait a ridiculously long time for our food and watched everyone else get served before us... but during the long wait, we browsed the interesting selection of products on display, so that kept us entertained. They do sell some pretty cool stuff, like the gin-gin ginger candies which are hard to come across. I've ordered the french toast which was pretty heavy/rich but still really good, but my favorite is the granola. It's awesome! They make it themselves and it's different every time I go.

    Joseph T.

The prices can't be beaten. The food was on point. The coffee was delicious. The staff were friendly. The wait was unbearable. I'm not sure if they were understaffed on this day, but we waited 40 minutes for eggs and toast, and oatmeal. Yes, I'm serious. It was delicious, though. I also really liked the setup. The makeshift furniture and the market style setup in the dining room. Oh. And they have dinosaurs. That's a win.

If I had to define "hidden gem", it would be this place! Oh my goodness! This place is SO cute! Major vintage vibes with the mismatched table and chairs. They have a HUGE fiddle leaf tree that has kind of become a little arch at the front door. They also have a mini grocery store section that sells random things like pumpkins and sparkling water. The menu seems to change often since its all written in chalk. The staff is so friendly and very patient when it comes to out of towners (like myself). I ordered the veggie galette and it was hands down the BEST galette I've ever had! I've been in the food industry for about 7 years and this place blew my socks off. My boyfriend got the biscuits and gravy and kudos to them for making a gravy that was flavorful but not over salty. I was raving about this place when I was in KC and when I got back home. Everyone needs to come here and try it out because it is so worth it! It's located across the street from a school on the corner of a random neighborhood. I was second guessing the spot when we first arrived because its just kind of out on its own, so glad we stayed thought because this was my favorite meal of the weekend!

Fabulous breakfast pizza! However, upon entry, it was unclear where to order until a small sign was read.

What kind of gluten-free items do they offer?

I have to tell you, it looks like the kind of place that would be VERY gluten free as it has the Organic Whole Foods kind of vibe. They have a lot of different egg dishes, fruit, salads, etc. I'm not sure if they had GF bread, but I wouldn't put…

It took us a while to get through the menu because of all the fun burgers they offered. I also got a yummy gin drink (i'm blanking on the name) that was prepared in a cute cocktail glass. And of course, we had to get the truffle fries which were to die for. Great service, he got us in and out of there on a busy night without rushing too much. Higher end burger place with prices that reflect that, but nothing too ridiculous. It was so uncomfortable, it added to us cutting our dinner short. Our server did greet us kindly and was quick to refill ice cold water - thank goodness! The staff members we encountered did their jobs, however, there was much they could have done to make the customer experience better too, such as smiling, a friendly greeting (other than our server), and offering solutions for problems. Problems that needed help: - the person delivering our food moved very slowly, didn't greet us or smile, barely audibly spoke the names of our plates as he put them down, and didn't say a word as he turned with a flat face and walked away. I hope he's doing okay. The interaction had a lot of room for improvement. But our orders were basically correct. - food at 5:30pm tasted like it had been hanging out in the kitchen for quite some time, waiting for someone to order it. - Brussel sprouts were hard on the inside and soggy on the outside. How? I'm not sure. - Fries were undercooked and barely seasoned. - And the new "award winning" 2026 Devil In Disguise burger is not worth trying. The description said "deviled eggs, pepper candied bacon, parmesan, bread crumbs, dill, chives, onion bun." The hard boiled eggs were tough, not fresh feeling. The "candied bacon" was 3 pieces, each the size of half a postage stamp. Didn't see Parmesan, dill or chives anywhere. They did include a sauce on the bun, like a relish or mayo with pickle chunks, which wasn't in the description. Confusing. Awkward to eat. I've had plenty of restaurant experiences where the food was less than par, but what struck me was the lack of follow-through by our server or anyone else. They just said "oh, I'm sorry" and took the food away. I was surprised at the lack of problem solving such as "can we remake the burger for you with a few changes?" Or "what can we do to make a new burger what you were wanting?" At least a manager to come say, "I'm sorry your orders weren't to your liking, is there anything we can do for you to make it right?" If management reads this review, please remind your daytime staff that presentation (even for kitchen staff serving the orders), food quality, professionalism, problem solving, and customer service matter. We as customers really appreciate those efforts. Thank you for taking the time to read.
