Sunday breakfast for Father's Day... We called ahead as many places had wait times up to 1.5hrs. The lady over the phone stated the wait was no more than 15 minutes so we decided to head over. Upon arrival they were pretty packed but we managed to be seated right away for a party of 3. A lady walked over and took our drink order. I asked for coffee with cream and she pointed to the end of the table to a bowl that had creamer in it. She didn't say anything just pointed. I thought that was sort of rude but whatever... After she left another waitress came over and took our food order. She was much kinder which was appreciated. We ordered an omelette, pancakes, bacon, eggs and biscuits with gravy. If you're looking for a cozy spot, this little cafe is a gem! It's a favorite hangout for locals and regulars, and the cowboy western decor adds a fun touch. Plus, the building used to be a bank, so you get to enjoy your coffee next to an old vault! We were seated right away, and our server was super friendly and attentive. They kept our coffee cups full, which was great! I loved their clever idea of using white mugs for regular coffee and black mugs for decaf--that made it so easy to tell them apart. We decided to share a sweet roll ($4.19), and oh my goodness, it was definitely big enough for two! For my main, I had the tenderfoot breakfast, which comes with two eggs and either toast or a biscuit. I chose the marble rye toast, and wow, it was absolutely delicious. This is such an adorable cafe! You definitely get more of a small town cafe vibe but absolutely love it! The staff was friendly all around. From the hostess to our wonderful waitress!! There is both Cholula (very important) and Tabasco at the tables. The prices are pretty fair. I do think the main dishes are a bit pricey but sides are pretty good! This is a really cool small town type of café. They seem to have good base of regulars here. The food is just OK, it's nothing amazing but you still get a solid breakfast here. Ok folks, if you are looking for a quality country breakfast then look no further. The food was very good but the service was epic. Let me explain the reason for the 4 star review. It is generally difficult to destroy an order of biscuits and gravy .... even though I am sure every one of us has had that experience .... so there were a couple of biscuits heavily topped with gravy. They were very good but not the best I have ever had, only Grandma holds that title. So that was 3 star worthy, but the service, epic, absolutely epic! First of all our waitress seemed to really enjoy her job. Now she was either a Hollywood actress that needed to be discovered, or she really seemed to enjoy being there and thus the reason for the 4 stars. While on vacation, we search for mom and pop places for breakfast. YELP sent us to Roxanne's. It was a bit of a drive from our hotel (the Argosy), but what a beautiful drive! We sat at the bar and enjoyed the company of the neighborhood retired set. Amy served us the Chuck Wagon---biscuits and gravy, 2 eggs, one hotcake and 4 strips of bacon. We added sides of hash browns and ham. Delicious and the portions fed us both! She kept our coffee cups full of hot regular and decaf, and talked with us about landmarks near our hometown. Don't waste your time and money the food quality is terrible and cheap. They need a new food vendor, among other things. Management is where it all starts, how they are still open is because there is nothing around both restaurants that serves breakfast. The pancakes I had were terrible you can buy a better mix at Aldi which I have and taste way better. The bacon was all fatty and small like the cheap brand you can buy at any store. It's u real they are still open. I have given both restaurants a try and 3 times is enough no more for me. This first-time stop was not as good as expected. A former bank turned restaurant, located in a pretty cool area sits across the street from National Golf Club in Parkville, Mo. In some ways one might think it would be great because of the location...don't be fooled. It's a cute/quaint cowboy themed little place with nice western decor & warm, friendly service, however the food left something to be desired. The pandemic has left us with many places short-staffed (or closed altogether) which is understandable, no worries there, HOWEVER the food was not good. I We waited patiently (nearly 30 minutes). Eventually our waitress kindly informed us the food would be out shortly...we did good to get that. When it arrived, the eggs were overcooked on both orders, the pancakes were lighter than we've EVER seen (appeared undercooked), the ham & bacon were extremely salty (more than usual), hash browns were terrible looking & the 'homemade' biscuit was dry as baking powder. I never received my coffee, but didn't sweat it. Probably the first time EVER that the ENTIRE meal was awful...needless to say, this dining experience was extremely disappointing. Again, it wasn't the service as all of the employees we encountered were a delight...the food just wasn't. I won't say I won't ever give them another try, but I won't be off to the races to do so. FYI there's another location in Platte City...hope it's better! No shade, just honesty. You all receive an E for Effort & a T for Thanks (just for being there). read more

My husband & I went in on a Sunday mid morning & found a packed house. However, service to clean up tables to make available for the next people was prompt. Therefore, we were seat immediately. My service was a little slow but that was to be expected with the business. The waitress was nice & professional the whole time she helped us. It took a little while for our food to come out and when it did I was very underwhelmed. I had the lighter side eggs & ham with a pancake on the side. The eggs & ham had absolutely no seasoning & that's all I can say about them. Just blah. The pancake was nice & different. It had a strong vanilla taste to it with a hint of cinnamon. I was not a big fan, probably because I didn't know of the flavorings & I was in the mood for just a plain Ole pancake. Lol nonetheless I ate it. My husband ate is meal & that it was just OK as well. He felt that there was nothing special or standout-ish about the meal. It was like stuff purchased from a grocery store & cooked. The pricing for this bland food was really good. I don't know what some of the reviewers are talking about - I dined here for breakfast this past weekend and had a great time and a great meal. Our waitress seated us quickly and was very friendly and attentive. The food came out within a reasonable amount of time. My biscuits and gravy were great and more than I probably should have eaten before a round of golf, and the side of hash browns were some of the best I've had. Our waitress kept the coffee mugs filled, and was prompt with our ticket when we finished eating. Only downside is my Dad wanted a slice of gooseberry pie, but it was going to be in the oven for another 15-20 minutes, and we had a tee-time. When I'm back in KC again, I'd certainly eat here. read more

Aunt Cha Cha and I'm blazed a trail up north last Saturday to score some suburban diner food. We were not let down. It's not far from KCK and we drove through scenic downtown Parkville, enjoying a leisurely jaunt up to Roxanne's new place. It was starting to hop at 8:45 am and we go in just in time as all the locals started pouring through the doors like a Walmart grand opening. In fact, after about 10 or 15 minutes, people were actually seated or milling about the foyer waiting to be seated. Our server was a nice lady who took our drink orders and was quite pleasant. The food came out quickly and was pretty dang good. I had two eggs over medium, 4 slices of bacon and a biscuit and gravy. It was satisfactory. In fact, it was just right. We've been there a few times because they are close. The food was never really good, but usually ok. This morning, though, is going to be our last visit. My wife got the pork chop lunch. The chops had no seasoning on them and tasted like they had been cooked in bad oil or on a dirty grill. My wife ate half of one pork chop, so Murphy our dog will do ok. I ordered an a la carte omelette with bacon, jalapenos and cheese. I'm not sure what the meat was, but whatever it was, it was tough and flavorless. My guess is that it was ground bacon bits out of an envelope. It might have been ground ham. Instead of having cheese in the omelette, there were two barely warm pieces of American cheese laid on top. If you decide to go there, I hope you have better luck. read more

My husband, my kids, my family, and my extended family have all been coming to Roxanne's since they opened in Sept. of '05. (That's 10 years!) We've always been happy with the food and service. Although, other than KELLY, who is an EXCELLENT waitress, we've never had anyone address us as being return customers, and/or thank us for coming in, again. And while we can recognize the owner and her family by face, and some by name, she cannot with nor probably most other return customers. Today, after receiving my biscuits and gravy and cutting them up, I told the waiter they they hadn't put enough gravy on this time. I asked him to please not charge us for it, because, as he could see (and he agreed,) they definately didn't have an appropriate amount of gravy. (Had I wanted dry biscuits I wouldn't have ordered B&G in the first place.) After he brought out what should have been applied to the biscuits the first time, I began eating, only to have "the Grandmother," Roxanne's mom come to the table and proceed to tell me that "they have a specific amount of gravy that they're supposed to put on and after that they have to charge for it, but this time they wouldn't and next time they'd have to charge me for it." REALLY? Are you kidding me? .....Let me get this straight - I've been coming to Roxanne's for 10 years and enjoying the food, not being addressed as a repeat customer, but not hassled (in front of other customers) either, and ONE time I asked them to bring more gravy (because they made an error) and I get treated like a second class citizen. I have never been humiliated at the Corner Cafe in Riverside and the food is at least as good, if not better.... It is sad to say I won't be back. read more
