Everything they teach is designed to get you back to your life as soon as possible: they even have a fake car to practice getting in and out of! Several people stand out: nurses Lydia, Vivian and Abu, each of whom made me feel my health was important to them; OT Rachel B, who is an amazing person with all sorts of tricks to make living independently with a broken hip possible;; Mary C, PT, who was contstantly enthusiastic and supportive; Dr. Dain and Dr. Brown, who visited daily to check vital signs and ask how I was doing. The food was not exciting, but it was well-prepared and you could chose your own meals. Quite frankly, I was surprised by what a positive experience it was to be at Fairlawn. I was there 11 days. Highly recommend!

I am absolutely shocked that this place is only rated with 2 stars. Having been in & out of…read morerecovery for 30+ years this is BY FAR the absolute BEST Detox, CSS & treatment program in the entire state of MA. In fact having spent 40 days in Hazelton in Minnesota years ago, the BEST treatment center in the World (or definitely in America) as Betty Ford modeled HER PROGRAM after theirs, I can say with 100% honesty that Washburn House is #2 in my mind, heart & experience to Hazelton. The compassion of the staff is like NOTHING I have found at any other treatment center, not by 1 or 2 staff members by by 99% of them, if not ALL. They deal with patients everyday that are physically sick and mentally & emotionally defeated due to the decisions we've made before landing at Washburn that has most times left our lives in turmoil, if not the WORST POSITION EVER, or very close to it. I definitely couldn't do the job that ALL of the employees at Washburn House do everyday. Having been a patient/client there 3 times, I have NEVER seen any of the employees that work here deal with me or any other client without the utmost RESPECT, EMPATHY, KINDNESS & PATIENCE. This job & the many kinds of clients & situations that employees in any detox program deal with on a daily business is NOT easy. Many times if one goes back a year later as a client to many detoxes in the state, the same employees or the majority of them are no longer there because understandably these jobs can burn employees out in a fairly short time. However, the majority of the same employees have STILL been employed at Washburn House in the 3 times I have gone back as a patient/client with at least a year if not more in between my admissions. Since the very first time I went through my time at the Washburn House. I have HIGHLY RECCOMENDED this facility to anyone who is seeking help for their own issues with alcohol or drugs & who desperately want to get clean & sober in order to begin to get their lives back. If I EVER need to seek treatment again for my own battle with addiction, I would do everything possible in order to seek treatment at the Washburn House again ONLY. Although I believe this is the case with many people struggling with addiction, I will only speak for myself when when I say, no one can make me feel any worse about myself than I am already feeling when I finally land in treatment. The employees at Washburn not only understand this but always do their best to build people up & give them hope. Especially to also let us all know that if we do the right thing upon upon discharge there is HOPE for each & every 1 of us regardless of where we come from, the substances we have struggled with & the fact that NONE of us are beyond redemption & forgiveness from ourselves, our loved ones & from whatever personel choice we choose to believe in as are own Higher Power. If you are seeking help to learn about, get physically detoxed from & shown how to live a life live free of drugs & alcohol. One which you can once again live up to your fullest potential, as well as a complete freedom from a life controlled by any substance that have controlled every aspect of your life in the past for a long time. I absolutely cannot stress getting treatment at the Washburn House. You have NOTHING to lose & more to gain in so many positive aspects than you could ever imagine.

The room was lovely. 90% off the care team was excellent. One nurse however does not belong here. Unfortunately this nurse delivered the news of my sisters passing-she was on duty for her final days. The support staff tries to make up for the lack of care and empathy for this one person. They have a little memorial service when your loved one leaves with the undertaker. The entire staff for the day is here. This nurse stated in the office. We received a card as well, signed by all, except this nurse. Believe me, I wish I could say one person didn't impact the rest of the wonderful care my sister received, but it did. I wish we had arranged care at home. We did need to stay on top of the medication administration. My sister's illness caused horrible terrors and startles. They were often a bit late to deliver meds meant to keep her comfortable. The chef, amazing, kind and caring. The aides, all wonderful and checked in with empathy often. We did share our concerns and expected a follow up call that never came. If you can't be here around the clock with your loved one, I do not recommend.

I left there in worse shape than when I went in only to later hear 3 horror stories from family and friends and in all 3 incidents, the patient died even though they weren't in there because they were going to die but just to get rehab. I was never given any rehab the entire time I was there. I was not even allowed to get out of bed for the month I was there. The patient in the next bed could not feed herself so the nurse would give her a couple of bites of food while she was putting in info on her computer. When she finished her work, she left and the poor woman hadn't eaten anything. The next day, as usual, they were all running behind and I heard her say to the woman, who was unresponsive, oh well, I don't have time to get those bandages changed so it will have to wait until tomorrow. She had changed one of them. Later that night Drs. and nurses came charging into the room. The poor woman was bleeding out from the wound that the nurse hadn't bothered to change. They had to rush her by ambulance back to the hospital she had come from for emergency surgery. The place was so bad, my husband slept in the chair next to my bed every night and left at 5 AM to go home and take care of our pets and then go to work after he made sure that I had 6 or 7 ups of water lined up because the nurses would never give me any. I actually went an entire day and they never gave me my morning or evening meds.
