If it weren't for Shorter's, this bowling alley would be turned into affordable houses for seniors. Greasy ass lanes. Balls do not return. They just spin at the end, and you have to throw another ball to push it to return. Computers do not work, probably because they are still running Windows 7. I told the guy working there the bowling balls would not return, and he asks, "is the ball is light weight" - what kind of dumb question is that. 12 lb ball. 15 lb ball. They get stuck. The best part, you have to change out of your bowling shoes to go to the restroom. LOL. What a joke. This place is a dump. Never coming back. Shorter's should find a new home. read more

The employees were nice, the crowd not so much. But even that would have been fine, however, this was my first time there with international visitors. We all wanted to play pool. I was excited to hear they had three tables. Once there, we see that the felt on the tables was torn, had stains, and the middle table had raised stains that hindered every shot. We did our best to have fun. But when leaving, when I told the employees, I was told that they don't own it and can do nothing about it because the area is leased to the arcade. I don't get it. We are their customers and came to play pool. Plus I had called them a couple of times to ask about tables. The least they could have done was to tell me that the conditions were poor. Came here when I was a kid. Still feels nostalgic and amazing. Typical relic bowling alley a little run down and aged inside but the lanes are well maintained, consistent and the staff are involved and knowledgeable in bowling and put the league bowler first unlike corporate owned places who only seem to care about booking parties and dry lanes. I came in with a large group and 20 minutes before closing everything was getting shut down. We asked if we can continue playing until they close and 3 minutes before closing they got everything working again. Worst experience and customer service. read more

The place looks old and not great curb appeal, but we had a blast! The score keeping is up to date and they have a separate open bar. They allow you to choose to bowl by time or by game, which I think is excellent. I would come here again. read more

My wife and I went to this bowling alley for the first time yesterday. We live in Manteca, where Bowlero is just down the street, but $170 to reserve a lane for two hours is just not gonna happen. This is your classic bowling alley! I love that about it. No fancy bells and whistles. They have a lounge, and there's a BBQ spot right next to it. We went on a random Thursday before 5pm. You can't beat the prices. We played two games and rented shoes for a whoopin' total of $28. Service was great! Really kind people. I believe this is still family-owned? We will definitely be back. I think we've found our new bowling place while we're still living in the Valley! read more

Worst bowling experience ever!!! Doesn't even deserve one star! Went bowling with 4 people on a Monday evening (around 5:30p). Purchased 8 games (2 per person) with a pair of shoes each and total was $21.00. Not a bad price but boy did we get what we paid for! The bowling alley was about half full. So not super crowded or busy. The selection of required bowing shoes was slim and disgusting! My husband wears a size 13 and they only had 3 choices, one was a Velcro strap and two were laced, both laced shoes were so worn down his heel was hitting the floor, and one of them he said was still soggy and wet like someone had been wearing them all day! Yuck! It was so bad he had to trade the shoes in! Disgusting! Our balls kept getting stuck at every round. We had to go to the front desk and ask for help retrieving our balls at least a handful of times before they moved us to the next lane over. After using that lane for less than ten minutes, the same thing happened where all the balls were stuck and not returned. The lane also dropped an incomplete set (not all 10 pins were set to start, there were pins missing in the setup) and we have to get help fixing that as well. We had to complain again and ask for our money back which they didn't give us and proceeded to move us once again to another broke ass lane. All of this in less than an hour of bowling! At this point we had been there for just under an hour and hadn't even gotten to the 6th frame and had already been moved to three lanes! While the final lane didn't pose as many issues as the first two, it had janky ass hard wood seats that looked like someone in Woodshop made them and our lane was right next to the hazardous Woodshop area (inside the bowling alley!!) each time I had to go to the front desk, there were at least 3 people there and they were all chatting with each other (non-work related) to where I had to interrupt their personal conversation to get service. We were very disappointed with this visit as we have been coming to this bowling alley for over 10 years however due to this experience and what a run down dump this place has become, we won't be coming back! We rather drive to a surrounding city (like Manteca) then pay to have another shitty experience like this! read more

We had a great time celebrating my daughter's boyfriend birthday. We were greeted with a warm welcome. Staff had everything set up and were very attentive making sure if we ran out of food they were there to add more. Bowling was fun and their drinks were cheap and well made. I bowl here in a league on Thursday night. The place is old but still brings in the crowd. There's a bar, a BBQ spot, a little game room for the kids and pool tables. They also have UHaul rental inside. Lol. They also have a taco truck that sits outside in the parking lot. Check it out! read more

Thank you West Valley Bowl, Mal, Cody, Jim and Justin for a great event! We rented out the entire facility for an appreciation event for our staff this past Sunday and we had a blast! There aren't many venues in the Tracy area that can accommodate 100+ people for a decent price, and though the interior needs some updating the service was excellent the night of our event. Justin was working hard to help me set up tables, drinks and clean up. We were able to set up our own registration tables in the front, additional tables for our catered dinner & balloons. Cody allowed us to DJ our own music and our team had so much fun with the cosmic bowling black light theme. We will gladly use West Valley Bowl as a venue for our events in the future read more

Came here to bowl with my son who was really looking forward to bowling. Came after 5pm as that is expected on a work day. Checked their website to see when they were open and what the prices were... reasonable prices and the lanes were open. Arrived at around 6pm to find that they don't rent lanes to the public after 5pm due to leagues. This is not mentioned anywhere on their website, in fact there are prices for after 5pm for the public. One disappointed dad and a really disappointed son. read more

We paid for two games and did not get to complete them. They just stopped them in the middle. No food was available and we couldn't bring our delivery food inside. We ate outside in the storm. The points did not align with the pins. A strike was recorded while one pin was standing. This happened over and over. Talking to people at desk didn't help. First i was amazed at how clean the entire place was from the ceiling to the bathroom and every other nook and cranny... thank you! -The employees are super friendly and helpful. -The arcade has crazy cheap games, crazier cheap pool tables and a $3 photo booth!!! -The price to bowl is on the lower end compared to other places outside of Tracy, like Manteca and Stockton. -All in all West Valley Bowl has great atmosphere for anyone, adults, kids and families will enjoy. Boy, the longer I go here, the more disappointed I get. I was forced to go to a pro-shop in Dublin (and we bought two bowling balls, ball bags, rosin bags and wrist supports) because the pro-shop "guy" is never there. Even when we are there during pro-shop open hours, no one is there. The pro shop always has the Open sign up, but no one is ever there. When I told the staff up front, the last time we went, they told me the manager is the pro-shop "guy" and there is nothing they can do about it. I have owned three businesses in my life and if your staff are scared of you, it's hopeless. I'm getting closer, every visit, to calling this place a dump. read more

The manager of this place is a joke. My group of 11 having a good time was playing music on their TouchTunes jukebox. Apparently the manager told his staff to turn the speakers off. A member in my group overheard the staff talking about the situation. If you don't want your patrons to play music than don't have the juke box. I've spent Hella money trying to play music. I normally like to rave about places because I like to find the best in things, HOWEVER, our night was very disappointing as we attempted to have a simple bowling night with some friends after work to celebrate my birthday.We were not only denied to bring in a birthday cake and balloons to celebrate. (My son tried to surprise me with)the food place closed earlier than the posted time of six. They were there...but said too close to six. It was 5:40. They wouldn't allow us to bring in food either. No wonder there was only 2 people in the establishment Never will I ever go back, or recommend this place. This is the only bowling alley here in Tracy and it's not in the greatest part of town for that matter. West Valley Bowl Center reminds you of your youth when you used to frequent bowling alleys in the 90's minus the beer, smoke, and fun times. It lacks an in the now, present feel with all the technology that is available. The old CRT tv monitors that display your score is an eyesore. Only a few of the monitors have been updated with flat screen monitors. The graphics are outdated and probably been around since the late 80's early 90's since the digital scoring came into effect. Everything basically that you touch or enter in this bowling alley yells I'm old and I need to be updated. Don't get me wrong, that doesn't detract the fun you have when you take your kids here and bowl a few games but I just feel it's like a time warp every time I enter through the doors. The bar area has been closed with a sign from the city. Something about it being unsafe to occupy and that it is a substandard building. I wonder when they are going to get that fixed...? There is no more snackbar. I remember coming here and getting a thing of fries and a drink in between games. None of that anymore. You basically have to shell out quarters and dollars for overpriced chips and soda's. Actually, on my last visit here which was this past Sunday, 1/4/14, the vending machines had nothing in them! All the soda were out except for mountain dew and cherry pepsi. I don't know if West Valley Bowl Center will ever do a remodeling of everything, it certainly would help. My family and I will still bowl here but it just feels like they are on their last legs. You gotta change with the times - and it is 2015 West Valley Bowl Center! read more

Came here to have a good time. Very unfortunate that instead I had an awkward interaction with a clearly racist female bartender 5/20/22. Do better guys, this place looks likes it's barley holding on. I don't think driving people away with a racist bartender is a good idea. I waited until my second interaction with her to decide if I want to post this review or not. I asked what shadow puppet beer they have on tap she just says "I don't know, it's beer just drink it!" You serious, ok? So I order a different beer and she says " ok Carlos!" And walks off. I even confirmed with the guy next to me if I heard her right and he said " ya that's what I heard." He didn't know my name was Daniel and it clearly stated that on my ID I had just handed her before she called me "Carlos". I hope the person that manages this place reads this and actually does something to ensure that another person does not have to go through the same experience I went through when I decided to give this place a chance. read more

This bowling alley is not as bad as other reviews make it out to be. I went here on Monday evening at 5:00 pm. There were about 3 other groups of people bowling. The bowling alley is a little worn out looking. That being said, you can still bowl and have fun. The lanes are well maintained. The staff is friendly. The pluses: There is ample parking. Prices are very affordable. There are always groupons - $9.00 for three games and shoes for two people. Get them now! There are lockers to rent. You can order Bill Hillie's Hillbillie BBQ to eat while you bowl, and get snacks and drinks at the vending machine. Not the cleanest place to eat though. There are a few arcade games that are pretty fun. Several billiards table, as well. The minuses: The machines used to type in names is hard to use. The screen is small and blurry. The lanes are very oily, so the balls get greasy, as well. The selection of bowling balls is very few and far between. I could only find one 10 lb ball with small holes. Funny thing, there were no other ten pound balls at all. I ended up just using a 12 lb with small holes. I will definitely go back to bowl at West Valley Bowl Center. After bowling a total of 295 points for three games o.O I think my only choice is to go back and practice a little, or a lot. There are league games and tournaments, too, that I want to check out. read more

Not impressed at all! This place is old, tired and looks like it has seen its better days a long time ago. The bathroom was flooded and the only concern they had was "Don't go in with Bowling shoes." There was no sign to warn you that there was a major lake on the floor and you might not want to walk fast!! Went here during the day and felt safe but I am not sure how safe I would feel at night. Service - helpful and competent Experience - just OK. the place could definitely use some renovating and once you walk in there is a waft of dust smell that lingers for a while. But I guess you get use to it. There are fans all over the place because I dont think thier AC is working but the place is kept at a cool temperature anyways. When I come to a bowling alley I don't expect to be oohed and awed. Though there are a few things you should expect. First, there will definitely be a El Camino parked out front! Second, it's going to smell like smoke inside regardless of how long California has had its no smoking ban. Lastly numero three, there will be pool tables. This place is sketchy, not so much on looks even though it could use a good scrubbing and a update but more so by association. The connected bar has been known to bring in patrons of the unsavory nature. But let me tell you, when you get a good group in there for Karaoke on Friday nights it's pretty amazing! More than a few night we've met up there to let loose and admire the people. Caution on the bar front, I've experienced multiple occasions where the prices change depending on who's making the drink. I once paid $8 for a shot, then a following weekend pay $3 FOR THE SAME DRINK! So I would just stick with beer. The bowling side is fairly nice, but by bowling standards. They always have shoes and lanes when we go but we tend to stay away on night/days there are leagues. The score keeper is outdated for sure, but in fairly good condition. The newest restaurant to swing through is a Hill Billy BBQ joint which has pretty kick ass garlic fries and excellent sweet tea. The tab for that ran about $9 with tip. I hope they stick around so I can try a bit more of their menu. I wonder if they're owned by the same people from the Hill Billy BBQ joint in Manteca. Recently we've been coming to play pool. They had four tables but recently upgraded to five! I've never came and seen all tables being used but we don't come often to as often to be considered regulars. When you come it's a $1 to play and you leave your ID up front in exchange for the balls. They have about 10 sticks and today had no chalk, usually they do. I grew up going here as a youth back in the late 80s. I came back to the bar, nice local friendly people here. I cant wait to go back here for sure. 1 dollar pool table here. They have a Touch Tunes juke box as well. I bet this place gets packed on the weekends. Bartender was nice but kind of busy i assume setting up for the evening. Birthday Party review! My son turned 6 and our party experience was great, its 1 hr bowl and then 1 hr party. You have a hostess who helps you throughout the party with setup, cleanup, and getting everyone their shoe rentals and lane setup. The host is dedicated to your party and is your liaison throughout, which is a big plus because your not running around looking for somebody.. keep your lines of communication open with your host and your party goes smoothly. Our guest had fun and we liked the open atmosphere of the party, your are welcome to hang out in the party area or stay at the bowling lanes.. which is what we enjoyed most. We weren't restricted to one area and the staff gave us our space, they'd pop in every once in awhile when we needed help. They provide decor but you are welcome to bring your own decor if you have a different theme..and they even include a balloon bouquet! There's no bar due to remodeling they say. Well seems like the outside could use a facelift also. I love the arcade and the pool tables. They play greeat music also. I came in and played some pool today. There was a big crowd of old guys that really schooled me good . The bathroom besides the same out of order stall is very clean. Its a great welcoming to training with all the great ads and brochures they have, I actually don't think the place is bad . I just think it could be alot better. Tracy bowling center needs to figure out a way to invest their money on remodeling it... Worst location to have a family bowling center, place smells like weed, over expensive, and rude employees. For the record my five star rating is for the service. Appearance wise the place is a little dated but Cleve and everything is working throughout the facility. I wanted to throw a holiday party for my entire family, my girlfriend's family as well. We decided on West Valley bowl. Our first interaction was with Cody who was kind enough to explain everything necessary to accommodate a large group. He booked us about a week or two prior to the event. The date of the event we were accommodated just as promised. And then some. Cody constantly checked on us to make sure that everything was going as planned. We had catered food as well and the facility was very good about designating an area for us to serve the food. Decades ago, bowling alleys with the super cool spot to hang out, and these days not so much. One of the sad excuses for entertainment in Tracy. Bowling is always a great time so this place is pretty lucky. This is my last option when we are looking for somewhere to bowl. They atmosphere is very creepy and ghetto. This place draws in the worst type of crowds. It reminds me of the stereotypical people you find at WalMart. The staff is unprofessional and often talking with their friends instead of helping out the customers. They always come off as irritated when they have to help you at your lane. I've seen older bowling alleys that are in better shape than this place. The bathrooms are the absolute worst-disgusting and never cleaned. The only good thing they have going for them is the maintenance of their lanes. read more

Even though I feel like this place could be remodeled it was a fun experience when I brought my little cousins and sister here. Marci was super sweet and the staff was very accommodating to our needs especially providing my cousins with the right size bowling ball for then and switching us to a better lane since the tv screen was blurry and unreadable. The summer special right now is a pretty good deal! $1 a game and $1 for shoes from the hours of when they open to 5pm Monday through Friday. My little cousins had a great time!
