I ended up in Dr. Jovicich's chair after being referred to him by my general dentist. She was unable to determine the cause of the pain in my molar. To make a long story short: Dr. Jovicich is top notch. After studying the X-ray he found a small fracture in the tooth and determined that the tooth had developed a minor infection. The root canal was done in minutes - less than 45 minutes - maybe only a half hour! Sometimes when you watch someone work you just know that they know what they're doing as they plug away without hesitation. This was one of those times. It was like watching Bob Ross paint happy little trees or Edward Scissorhands cut hair. I highly recommend Dr. Jovocich for your Endo needs although this is also a situation where I don't necessarily want to be back in his chair anytime soon, if you know what I mean. But I feel confident and relieved that if I do need a root canal I'm going back to see him and his awesome staff. Good day! read more

I was referred to Dr. Barry Vilkin by a dentist in the same building.. He looked at the X-Ray and confirmed that I was right about the molar that needed a root canal, as the nerve was dying. I was lucky that they an opening the next day, otherwise I had to take strong medication to ease my tooth ache. I was very calm until I entered the room and felt very nervous, I have no idea why, maybe because I haven't had a root canals to often, but as soon as the doctor entered the room I was calm, like a sea. He mad me feel very confident and I feel so relaxed that I almost fell asleep during the procedure. It was a great choice to go to Dr. Vilkin and in 2 weeks I wink be done with that trouble causing tooth. read more

I was referred by my primary dentist - Dr. Robert Cohen in Sherman Oaks (amazing, if you need primary dental care!) - to Dr. Barry Vilkin at West Valley Endodontic Group to work on a root canal for roots that had calcified. I've always hated dental work, because it's been such a huge trudge for me ever since I was a baby, but I have to say that I'm so happy to have come across West Valley and Dr. Vilkin! I went in for two appointments to get this pretty invasive root canal done, and it was such a fantastic, smooth experience. The people in the front-of-house at the office were wonderful and helped me work out a payment plan over a couple of months, and were also very sensitive to all the dental fear that I had. Dr. Vilkin was great when it came to going over my dental history and plan with my primary, and he was also extremely sensitive to the concerns I had re: dental pain, treatments, after-care, etc. I really enjoyed him and you can tell her truly cares about the work he does. Even more so, his assistant Rosa is an absolute gem. I worked with her the most 1-on-1 and have never had someone in the dental world understand my concerns as much. I usually have a pretty bad gag reflex, for example, and relayed this to her, and she had a number of tricks of the trade/small exercises that helped me get thru the worse of x-rays, the procedure, etc. She also was very concerned about making the whole experience feel much less clinical, and much more spa-like--and it really was! Even though it was a somewhat tricky root canal. Hoping I don't have to go back too often to get invasive work done, but I definitely feel comforted knowing that Dr. Vilkin and his team are there if I need them. read more

I just want to tell everyone that having a root canal is NOT scary if done by Dr Jovicich!! This was my first time going to this office, on a recommendation, and I couldn't be happier. Dr Jovicich makes you feel comfortable from the get go, and explains everything to you as he goes along. He put me at such ease, that I was fighting to stay awake during the procedure. The experience was that good. The only reason I didn't fall asleep was because I was worried I'd shut my mouth on his fingers, and instruments. His staff is terrific. Allison, who greets you, is so happy and funny, that it's a pleasure. Hector, the dental tech is such a nice guy, that I'm sure under his mask he's constantly smiling (you know how you can hear someone smile). Anyway, a great experience. This practice group is phenomenal, from the front office staff, technicians to the dentists! Dr. Stein did my root canal. When one says root canal, you don't think the most pleasant of thoughts. But my procedure was the most pleasant dental experience of my life. The nearly silent drill was painless. Dr. Stein had me out of there very quickly. Front office staff Alison was super friendly and organized (all paperwork prepped and waiting for me), Hector did painless ex-rays, and Dr. Jovicich was pain-free in every way, including super-high-ethics (no unnecessary procedures or unnecessary billing which is a rare thing in the 'business' of medicine these days). Lucky day for me: only ex-rays, no root canal necessary. Dr. J explained everything including what to look for if a root canal ever is necessary, while begin friendly and funny and reducing my distress. I love the people that's running this clinic starting from the front office with Marlene and Alison. They both make you feel at ease and helpful. The ambiance of the place is excellent. Hector who perhaps has a tougher job for making sure everything is set for the patient and the doctor, he remains professional. I got referred to this endodontic office by my regular dentist for a specialized root canal. I was nervous, naturally, as I have always hated root canals. I thought it would be horrible and painful. But I was pleasantly surprised. First of all, the office staff was very helpful and friendly. I arrived early, they even offered me a coffee. I have never been asked that at a doctor's office. Secondly, Dr. Jovicich was amazing. He was not only very friendly and put me at ease ahead of the procedure, but also was extremely knowledgeable and an expert in what he does. I felt nothing during the root canal. Not even the numbing injection hurt. Just had a root canal- I am not much of a reviewer and if I do it's usually about food. But Dr. Jovicich is the bomb. The entire office staff was incredible. The lovely lady helping him out was really sweet and they both made me feel at ease. We joked, we laughed, he took the root of my tooth out and it was a great time. I recently needed a root canal and never had one before, so I had to find an endodontist. I was referred to Dr. Vilkin @ West Valley Endodontics. I like most do not like going to the dentist but go begrudgingly. Dr. Vilkin and the wonderful staff at West Valley Endodontics changed all that. Rosa his assistant makes sure you are comfortable and that the music playing is what you want to listen to. Dr Vilkin , during the performance of the root canal continually asked if there was there any pain making sure I was comfortable during the procedure. Wow no pain at all and I was one of the lucky ones with 4 roots to clean out. I no longer have that fear of the dentist thanks to Dr. Vilkin and his staff. read more

I've now been here a total of 4 times for two separate root canals. The first time was for an abscess in my sinus cavity. I recently had a new crown put on, unfortunately they were going to have to drill through it. My endodontist, had to go in and actually finish a root canal that my original dentist seven years earlier did not finish since my roots were pretty long. Not only did he save my crown from having to be redone but he help relieve the pain and pressure that the abscess was causing and fully completed the root canal. Its been about 6 months and I've had no pain there since. The root canal takes two appointments, the first one most of the work gets done. Then antibiotics settle and about a week later the job is finished. Around February 6th of this year, I was having pain on a tooth right in front of where my root canal was done. After speaking with my regular dentist they suggested that I go back to my endodontist who did my first root canal. His name is Barry Vilkin. Dr. Vilkin was so good with me the first time I wasn't scared to have another root canal done. After checking two of my teeth for sensitivity to cold and pressure he and I both determined that it was one specific tooth that was bothering me and causing headaches. He proceeded to do another root canal On February 12. My dentist which is actually Dr Shapiro's office already had me on antibiotics. Dr vilken is so gentle and really make sure that I'm comfortable. I highly recommend him to all my coworkers, family and friends. I no longer scared of getting a root canal, he makes it feel like nothing. Which my husband laughed at me for. The girls at the front desk are really sweet they also have wifi if you have a phone and nothing to do. Coffee and water is offered in the lobby, and they do usually validate your parking. Also Dr. Vilkins assistant is very sweet she'll choose different music playing in the background based off of your preferences and she always constantly make sure that your comfortable. Unfortunately I cannot remember her name. See you in 6 months for my check up! read more

I visited Dr. Vilkin twice for my cracked teeth. He is very professional and kind. He quickly diagnosed what problems I had, which my dentist for the past 10 years could not identify why I had so much pain. He then in no time communicated my dentist about my problems and made suggestions. His staff is also very nice. The office is clean and validates parking. Everyone works efficiently. I did not have to wait to see the doctor. This is a great office with great customer services. If you want to get your teeth taken care of nicely and you feel good, this is the place to go. read more

I just had a root canal performed by Dr. Jovicich and it was completely painless including the novocaine injections. I felt no pain at all during the procedure. He and his staff are great and do not recommend unneeded extras nor did they charge more than quoted. They were able to quote me the exact out of pocket I would have to pay over the phone. This office is the best! Dr. Vilkin is patient. He explains everything. He tells you how much longer the procedure will take. I did not have an infection but over the course of the last year I had two teeth break from old cavities. Dr. V did both. No problems! If you have to have a shot he gives a great one. The office is immaculate. The staff is wonderful. You get to select the music you like and their chairs are very comfy. His assistant Rosa is beyond great. She is calm and very attentive.
