Dr. Cohen is a very good endodontist and her staff member, Carla, is also great! They are both very friendly and professional. The office is nice and clean. I was referred to Dr. Cohen because at my 6-month cleaning I brought up there was a bump on my gums. After x-rays, my dentist thought there was an infection in my root canal that needed to be retreated. Dr. Cohen looked at the x-rays and said it may be a different issue. She offered to do a diagnostic procedure that would cut through my gums and expose the roots to see what the issue really was and somewhat clear out whatever she found. So, I was vey nervous about that but we did it and found there was a crack on one of the roots of my tooth. That crack ended up getting infected and starting rotting out that area. Dr. Cohen then ended up removing parts of the roots of that tooth, clearing out decayed bone, and other rotten tissue. This 30 minute procedure jumped to a 2 hour procedure because DR. COHEN REALLY WANTED TO HELP ME save my tooth. It was a little painful after the fact and I had antibiotics to take to make sure the infection was eradicated. I was not happy at all with how my gums looked immediately after and I had felt like she didn't explain that would happen. I found out later it was a side effect of her doing what she did to help me save my tooth. It looks MUCH MUCH better now. She added a little collagen into that area to encourage the gums to grow back. Over 6 months later, it is all healed up. No issues. The bone grew back and filled in. My gums are healthy and strong. Luckily, this is the very last tooth so no one will see those gums and they look better. In the pictures, are the before and after, a picture in the healing process, Dr. Cohen, and the office. Although she did ask for a review before completing my procedure (which is not unusual for business owners to ask before work is complete) and unfortunately my crown was cracked after surgery and tho she said that that was a possibility...it sucks to have to pay out of pocket for a new crown. And then they said they had to send a bone graft to UCLA but I had no idea that I had to pay separately now I have a bill from collections so I called the office and front desk girl said they had me sign a document stating that I might have to pay for it if my insurance doesn't... So I asked for a copy of that signed document because I don't recall being told or having to pay UCLA separately after paying them over $4000 for a procedure you would think I would be clear that I would owe $300 on top of that for a bone graft they needed to do the work for me, and now they tell me they have no copy of the form that I signed. She couldn't even tell me if this collection bill originated from them because she said she has nothing to do with UCLA but they are the one who sent out the bone graft. She says I have to call UCLA. I shouldn't have to do extra work and pay UCLA separately for work they needed for the job? I have a high credit score and I haven't had a collections in over 15 years at least I can say...so i am very disappointed by the lack of clarity.. and the additional fees after paying so much already, and not being able to get a copy of the form I had to sign, so I can feel comfortable of paying an amount that I don't even recall having to pay in the first place. I trusted Dr Cohen so much until my crown cracked and now I have a bill in collection that could've been avoided. read more
