Dr. Tatsuta and her husband were absolutely amazing. I had an old root canal that was never crowned and had a severe infection. In a matter of a day she was able to assess and evaluate the treatment needed and refer me to her husband for extraction. Her staff was amazing and attentive, they actually cared about the amount of pain I was in. Dr. Okui did the extraction and explained every step. His staff was great, from billing to the dental assistants. I have a severe dentist phobia and they made the experience pleasant, I knew I was in good hands. I started seeing Dr. Tatsuta when I lived in Encino. She was highly recommended by my dentist. Over the last 10 years or so I've had somewhere around 6 root canals done by her. (Not her fault - I needed them.) The last go round she did two at once. She is obviously a very smart, pleasant and competent woman, and I now drive quite a ways to go back to her. I'm moving out of state in the near future, and there's a pretty good chance I'd travel back to CA for treatment by her if (when) I need another root canal. Pluses: 1. She is conservative in her treatment. If there is a chance you don't need one, she'll wait and see and repeat the testing. 2. She is obviously highly skilled at the actual work she does, when you do eventually need it. 3. She'll explain anything to you in whatever level of detail you want. Which in my case, is not a lot. 4. Her follow up (emails, phone calls) is unlike anything I've experienced in a dental or medical context. 5. She doesn't prescribe antibiotics just for the heck of it. read more

AMAZING DOCTOR!!! So gentle and such an easy process! Dr Tatsuta was fixing an old root canaL. She had to take old post out, clean it up, new post etc. I was told I had to have a tooth extracted and Dr T was able to save it. Zero pain and she is so thorough! she explains everything as well. *********Patient Beware********* Stay away from Cynthia Tatsuta. She is a horrible endodontist. I went in for a root canal and days later I still had strong pain. She had me come in multiple times thinking she can fix it by adjustment or filing my tooth. Weeks then months later the pain still persisted. Her suggestion for me was to have a surgery and for me to spend more money with her to fix the problem. I asked her for a refund, even a partial one so I can get a second opinion. She told me she doesn't ever refund her patience. Ever!! She was very clear and very rude about it. I spent over $2000 on a tooth she wasn't able to fix. I then HAD to go to another endodontist and he discovered that she didn't treat the correct root. She ultimately made a mistake. Please stay away from her and her office. She talks too much and goes around in circles trying to confuse you with her dental jargon. On top of it all, she is money hungry. During my treatment, while my mouth was wide open and wearing the eyeglass, she had one of her girls come over me with a clipboard asking for her money. She couldn't wait till I was finished. I cannot say enough positive things about Dr. Cynthia Tatsuta. I found out I needed my first root canal a few months ago, and needless to say, I was extremely nervous about it. It was my first major dental procedure and I was weary because I've had some nightmare dental experiences in the past. What I appreciated the most was that Dr. Tatsuta truly took the time to explain the procedure to me, to explain why root canals are needed, and exactly what she would be doing. It was obvious that she is very knowledgeable about her field of expertise. On the day of the procedure, she explained everything very thoroughly, and was careful to explain everything as she was going through the process -- and you could tell she was very comfortable and experienced with this procedure. She followed up with me immediately after, and several days after via text, and I was grateful to have my questions answered immediately. My dentist identified several other teeth that might need root canals in the near future, and Dr. Tatsuta encouraged me to try a new type or toothpaste - NO JOKE, I have been using it for a few months and will not be needing additional root canals at this time. Her office staff are super helpful and professional, and I am so grateful to have been connected to her office. My next follow up on my root canal will be 5 years from now - if I don't need another root canal sooner. I am hoping I won't need to get a root canal again any time soon, but if I do, I will definitely be back at Dr. Tatsuta's office. THANK YOU! read more

So I've left other reviews for my regular dentist (who I adore!), but Dr. Tatsuta did the work for my most recent (yes, there have been multiple!) root canal and I need to let people know how wonderful she is! Dr. Tatsuta is so friendly, compassionate, concerned, and skilled. She is an endodontist, I believe, and I do not know if she does regular dental care but I DO know that she does do root canals and really well. So, let me first explain that my teeth are evil. Even though I am so good about caring for them, they insist on drilling holes into themselves and then get infected and require fillings and occasionally root canals. In this particular case, my dentist tried to see if it could just be handled with a filling, but alas, it was a case of a dying nerve (so a root canal was needed). I was quite peeved by this not because I find root canals to be painful (which I don't know where people get that idea since modern medicine makes awesome anesthetics) but because I really did not like the guy my dentist previously would send me to for them.... he had big hands and his assistant was snotty and liquid would constantly drip down my throat, it was so uncomfortable and unpleasant. I spoke with my dentist about this and she thought of endodontists she knew and determined that Dr. Tatsuta was the right recommendation. Well, right she was! Dr. Tatsuta was so kind and caring and I could really go on and on about the emotional part (because I like to have a caring person when I'm in pain!) but I also think it's really important to express that she's also really conscientious about doing things by the book. What that means is that when I expressed my concerns about liquid dripping down my throat with the other endodontist, she was surprised and told me that this should not happen because in addition to using a dental dam, she also used a foam around the area to prevent anything from slipping past and despite my skepticism, she was right! This alone made the process so much more pleasant. And this is just one example of how she is considerate of her patient and is always making sure to follow the recommended protocols (even if they're inconvenient) which is intended to be for the betterment of the patient. In addition, I think it's good to mention that although I think her prices are on the slightly higher side (although not crazily high), these prices come with multiple follow-up visits (1 month if needed and then 6 month and 5 year!) and 24 hour availability (she actually gave me her CELL PHONE NUMBER and encouraged me to call at any time!!!). And, if that wasn't enough, she called my home that day or the next (I don't remember anymore) to check in to see how I was doing and requested a return call (like, not call back if I need to but call back regardless to let her know how my recovery was going... I almost fell over when my husband gave me the message). I mean, have you ever heard of this?? I just cannot express how fabulous this woman is. And, since this matters to me even if it's not an issue for others, she has small hands (thankfully!) which is nice for people like me who have small mouths with very back teeth that need the root canals. Long story short: Not the cheapest, but she was so wonderful, did excellent work, includes multiple follow-ups and was very accessible. I will absolutely be going back every time I need an endodontist and she's the only one I'll be recommending from here forward. One last thing: there is parking in her building, it's valet only (but you do get validation) and it can be VERY hit or miss... sometimes I go and there's no problems but this last time I was there (for my 6 month follow-up :)), getting out at the end was a ZOO and the valet people behind the counter were beyond unhelpful. It literally took 15 minutes to get my car and get out... it was incredibly aggravating, so just be prepared for the possibility. All in all, still not enough for me not to go to Dr. Tatsuta. read more

Dr Cynthia Tatsuta is the best I am a general DDS and have worked with her for years. I had to have a 26 year old root canal retreated and went in to see her. She is caring She is a perfectionist. Her office is very professional but warm and caring. All my patietns would come back to me and thank me for referring them to her. Dr. Tatsuta and her staff were wonderful, I came to the office after spending the sleepless night in severe pain, the doctor was able to see me on emergency basis, she was very attentive and detail oriented, explained everything thoroughly. I was pain-free during the procedure as Dr. T. kept ensuring I didn't feel anything during the procedure, minimum discomfort day of procedure (controlled by Tylenol), no pain medications afterwords. Doctor T. checked several times after the procedure to see about the recovery process. Top notch equipment, microscope had been used during the procedure. I'll make this real brief. I saw Dr. Tatsuta to have a bit from a dentist's drill that broke off in my tooth during a root canal removed. I saw two specialists prior to seeing Dr. Tatsuta who both told me they could not remove the broken drill bit and just have the tooth extracted. Dr. Tatsuta removed the broken drill bit and saved the tooth in one visit. She had the competence and tenacity to do it and I will always remember her for that. I know it's just a tooth but she did what other "experts" could not or would not do. Thank you Doc. You are the best. read more
