Do Not recommend Dr. Vilikn!! I have had many problems with my tooth, since he has worked on it. He will not come to the phone. He has his helper Rosa do all the extra work. Who can be difficult herself. If you act nervous or ask to many questions Dr. Vilkin will tell you sedation is the only way to do my root canal! What? I went elsewhere to see why my tooth was not getting better after he worked on it. I was informed there was a root not filled and that was causing my pain. I was scheduled this morning for a root canal treatment by Dr. Vilkin at 8:00 a.m. I had the usual anticipation and fear from this procedure as I have not had one in more then 30 years. I had planned for this and then cancelled and then finally set up my appointment for today. To my surprise after taking a new updated x-ray of my offending tooth Dr. Vilkin informed me that I may not need this root canal today and maybe we should put this off for a period of time. There was no infection and certainly no pain and I was ready for this dental treatment today. This truly made my day as I gracefully exited the office with the warning to come back in 6 months or so for a review of my situation. Dr. Vilkin was truly a professional and was honest and upfront with me. I have never been to another dental professional who told me that a procedure was not required at this time. I got my day back again and my mouth feels great. Rosa is something else herself as she anticipates your fear and can easily distract you. I am a gagger with anything in my mouth and with words of calm coming from her mouth I was put to rest and calmed by her. She is truly a wonderful addition to the office. I never write YELP reviews but felt it was necessary in this case to inform others that Dr. Vilkin would not perform a procedure unless it was absolutely necessary . I have yet to hear someone say they are looking forward to a dental procedure. However, Dr. Vilkin and his assistant, Rosa, do make the experience a whole lot more bearable. Not only do they care about the patient's problem but they also care about the patient as a person. I had a persistent problem that Dr. Vilkin treated repeatedly at a cost that was uncommonly fair. Should I need endodontic treatment in the future I wouldn't hesitate to travel the distance to ensure Dr. Vilkin and Rosa are the ones taking care of me. Just got my 3rd root canal (yeah, sucks..) from Dr Vilkin. He and his team are the best! Sadly growing up I had a lot of cavities and very large silver filings. In replacing those fillings its been discovered how they have not held up well overtime and hence I have unfortunately had too much experience with root canals. 4 in total. My first was with a dentist who I no longer see because his work was almost as bad as having the silver filings. That was not a great experience and made me nervous as to future root canals. I mention this because when my current dentist referred me to Dr Vilkin to do the root canal I thought that odd. But in hind sight, having a dentist who specializes in root canals do the work means that I am in experienced hands. Once the novocain kicks in you don't feel a thing and sit back and listen to the music of your choice. All along the way Dr Vilkin checks in with you to make sure that you are doing ok. The first two root canals I had with him have not given me any problems. One of them was with a tooth that already had a crown placed on it, it wasn't an issue for Dr. Vilkin. With my latest visit he informed me that my nerves were large and recommended that we try to give the tooth more time to heal itself rather then jumping right into a root canal. I appreciated that he was more concerned with my tooth then just going in and performing the root canal. Along with his office staff we pushed my followup appointment for 3 weeks while waiting to see if the tooth would calm down which unfortunately for me it did not. I highly recommend Dr Vilkin. His office is clean, orderly, and you are seen as soon as you arrive, there is no extended waiting in their lobby. His staff is extremely efficient and his assistant Rosa is super sweet and comforting. They give you a pillow, blanket if you get cold, and beverages! And I love that they validate parking!!! Oddly enough even though I knew I was going in to get another root canal, it was kind of nice to see them all again. read more

I don't think anyone looks forward to a root canal, but when you have to do it, this is by far the best place. Everyone is so friendly and warm and welcoming that my initial anxiety I had when I walked in the door was eased right away. Although no one relishes the idea of getting a root canal, Dr. Vilkin and his office staff made the experience surprisingly pleasant. Their bedside manner is excellent and everyone in the office genuinely care about your comfort. His assistant, Rosa, is very kind and takes great care in making sure you are comfortable and relaxed - a true professional. Alison is also very thoughtful and answered many of my questions over the phone with patience and ernest. The other ladies who work at the front desk were also great however I didn't get their names. Did a root canal for me. I had never had one. I was so impressed. No pain at all, and just watching he and Rosa work was incredible. I honestly never thought I'd be saying a root canal was a terrific experience but I'm dead serious. Ultimately the tooth was too cracked to save, but Dr. Vilkin prepared me with realistic expectations and referred me to an equally terrific oral surgeon for an extraction that proved to be equally painless. had a pain in my tooth under a crown. I had scheduled root canal with Dr Vilkin. Came to the office and Dr Vilkin could not identify which tooth needs a root canal. Spend 15 minutes with me and send me home with antibiotics and pain in my tooth. I got a huge reaction to the pill and had to go to Urgent care to treat my body. I had rush and itchiness to the point that I could not work for 6 days. I called the Dr Vilkin and told him about the reaction to the pill, so Dr Vilkin said You are a difficult case and I won't treat you anymore. Go and find a different doctor. Dr Vilkin does not care about his patients, rude and unprofessional. Don't go for your endodontics problem to this doctor. Your dental problems will not be resolved and will not get your money back. read more

They are the best in the valley. Every person in the office is overly attentive and try really hard to break the typical view of most people hating going to the dentists. I couldn't take the pain of my tooth any longer. They were booked but squeezed me in the next day for an evaluation and got the root canal 2 days later. I will start by saying that if you ever need a root canal, Dr. Vilken is your go to. I was referred to him by a great dentist Dr. Mark Bieber ( dds in Burbank). I have had one root canal before but this was far more advanced and virtually painless. I have a sensitivity to epinephrine and have allergies so needless to say was a bit nervous. Dr. Vilken assured me that such a minimal amount is used in a newer product that I would be fine and I was! Today was my second visit to Dr. Vilkin. I first saw him two years ago for a root canal. I remembered the experience to be a good one and that the pain was minimal. So when my dentist told me he thought I needed another root canal after I was experiencing severe pain following a crown prep, I thought I should go back to Dr. Vilkin. However, my dentist recommended a different endodontist. So I went to the endodontist suggest by my dentist and she took x-rays and then explained to me that I most definitely needed a root canal and was ready to do it right there on the spot. However, something just did not feel right to me. I just felt like I should get a second opinion. So today I went to see Dr. Vilkin, fully expecting to get a root canal. However upon looking at my x-rays and doing some tests on my tooth, Dr. Viklin said he did not think I needed a root canal and that my pain should clear up on its own in a few weeks when the root has had time to heal from the crown prep. I was relieved and very appreciative of Dr. Vilklin's honest opinion. read more

I called Dr. Vilkin's office and they were able to get me in on an emergency basis. He put an end to my misery and had me out of his office in no time at all. I''m sorry to have to write a not so pleasant review about Dr Vilkin. First, the root canals he performed were fine; so no complaints there. What follows is what left a very sour taste in my mouth. On three occasions Dr Vilkin's staff called--approx three hours before the scheduled appointment---to see if I could come in earlier. I would, usually, pick up the voicemail an hour or two after they left the message. Each time I apologized and said I could not come in earlier. I went on to offer to 1) come at the already scheduled time, or 2) reschedule if that is their preference. All three times the staff asked if I would mind rescheduling. I said okay. So far so good--no problem. Then, out of the blue, I get a call from the office to please call back. I called and asked if everything was okay---did they get my check, etc. They said "yes" they did--but the doctor no longer wanted to see me as a patient. Shocked, I asked why. She said it's because I canceled too many appointments. I reminded her that I never canceled but that it was them who requested a reschedule. She said she knew that --- but could not comment further and to call and ask for the office manager the next day. I was so hurt. I have never--ever--been "fired" by a doctor and consider myself a good patient. I contacted my referring doctor and told him what happened. I even told him I still had two of the three voicemails asking me to reschedule and was more than willing to share them with Dr Vilkin. I went on to say that if there was anything else I did to offend him (can't really think of what) that I could take it--please tell me. My doctor was equally baffled on one hand, yet mentioned he recalls other staff issues in the past (didn't give the details). He did offer to call Dr Vilkin and did. Dr Vilkin opted to side with his staff despite the offer to listen to my voicemails. Of course, at this point, even if he did opt to believe me--I wouldn't return--I wouldn't trust his staff and why return to a, now, hostile environment. I promise this is the truth and it really hurt. Word of advice--if you do see Dr Vilkin and his staff asks you to come in earlier--do one of the following: say "no" and say you intend to come for your already scheduled time. Or, reschedule but be sure--in advance--that Dr Vilkin knows his staff asked to reschedule you. Oh, and maybe it would be good to ensure their records reflect that they asked you to reschedule and that you did not cancel. Sincerely---NOT a serial canceling patient read more

I was very nervous about having a root canal. The moment I walked into the office and was greeted by the women behind the desk, I began to feel more comfortable. Very pleasant atmosphere. I was prepped and had X-rays taken. The assistant told me a technique to prevent gagging and it really worked!!! Then the dentist , Dr. Vilkin came in and explained everything that was going to happen. He had a friendly personality and I truly felt comfortable and confident. It didn't hurt to see his diplomas on the wall from Boston University. (Call me an education snob!). The injection he said would be a slight pinch (hardly felt it) and felt no pain during the procedure. The entire time he reported on his progress, explained what was happening, and praised me for doing a good job. I told him it was HE that was doing the good job! I can honestly say that I will be back (if and when I need another root canal) and I don't think I will have any fear. It truly was, believe it or not, a pleasant experience! Go to him! Wanted to let everyone know that this is the place to get a root canal. I personally have had about 9 of them and scared to death as I have had both good and bad experiences. This is absolutely the best place so far. Dr. Vilkin knew what he was doing and I didn't feel anything! Even that night when everything wore off, I still had no pain from the root canal (and this was a 3 prong tooth).
