Ladies and Gents, This place is pretty awesome, I have seen a couple movies here and have always had a great time ordering a pizza and chillin' in my car with my girl. However, when I looked at the movie selection of other West Winds, I began to feel a bit upset. Goleta (Yeah, don't kid yourself it's in Old Town...c'mon) only seems to get kid flicks. I have been waiting for a real movie for over a month now and it looks like I will have to wait longer with Big Hero 6 being the main feature. Drive ins are so much better than traditional movie theaters and I would love to come see more movies at West Wind. But the selection just isn't there unless you are a parent or a child. We need to demand a better selection in Goleta! read more

I love the Drive in! Having not been to a drive in before I had little expectation. People really go all out and bring BBQs, their dogs, kids, snacks. There's a little old time snack bar with the regular goodies. Its just a whole different experience at the drive in. The staff goes around with flash lights -I guess making sure there isn't too much making out going on ;) which is slightly distracting but not excessive. I had no problems with the sound or picture. You listen to the audio in your car, lift up the back of your SUV, or bring a pile of blankets and line your truck bed OR just relax in your car. Its fun for all! read more

This drive in SUCKS! I have yet been able to watch a movie here. I'd rather, and I have, driven all the way to City of Industry to go to a real drive in theater than to attempt to go again to this dump. The parking lot is atrocious so if you value your car, take a busted car instead. Also, the first time I went to watch a movie, I waited forever for the movie to start and then found out they couldn't get the movie to start so they said that we'd have to come back later. The second time was tonight to see Iron Man 3 and their showtimes on their website said 8 pm, 10:35 pm, and 1:00 am. However, I went and got my food and a large Coca Cola to stay up only to get to the drive in at 12:45 am to find out that they started the movie at 11:40 pm and wouldn't be showing a 1:00 am movie at all. Apparently, they only update their Facebook page when a movie isn't going to show on time. I don't think I'll be going back because I'm tired of the unreliability of this drive in. EVERY time the showtimes are correct and on time in the LA area. Now I'll just sit here eat my chicken nuggets and watch a movie on my expensive cable service - at least I know I have a 99% chance that the movie on TV will start when it says it will. Update: I'm not sure how to respond to the customer service rep's message but the website and the phone said 1:00 am on Friday which is one hour after midnight on Thursday. If your schedule is 1:00 am Friday night which actually means 1:00 am Saturday, I hope you can understand how people who are used to a 24 hour day would be confused. Even the employee I spoke to told me that other people were confused and I saw others drive up for the 1 am Friday show. read more

We come here at least 2 times a month for "family night". On Tuesday nights you can get in for $5 per person (small kids free). It's a fun family night out without having to worry about your toddler disturbing others. She can talk and jump around and not be shhhuhhed while we nibble on homemade snacks and a packed dinner. read more

Great place for family fun for all ages. The ticket price is reasonable and the snack bar has everything you need. The pretzels are especially yummy. The audio is great and there is plenty of room for everyone to get a good spot, even if you don't come early. The staff are nice and very helpful. This is a must try experience. Check it out before this relic from another era is gone. read more

If you've never experienced the drive-in you have to do it at least once it's probably well most likely won't be like the experience you get at a big movie house with perhaps reclining seats and whatnot but you're seeing a movie that just came out in the theater and you're in your own car and you can bring your own food which I actually would suggest because the food at the Goleta drive-in Westwind isn't anything to write home about but the experience has five stars Plus read more

This place is amazing. It's all I can ask for at a drive in movie theater. The location is easy to find, the staff is friendly, the prices are fairly affordable. I got to watch the Hunger Games MockingJay Part I here and loved it. The night sky looked so beautiful behind the screen and the stars were twinkling so much I thought they were airplanes. It was hard to navigate around the bumpy dirt lot but I got a very good spot ten minutes prior to the film. A wonderful place to take somebody on a date. Movies will never be the same and I will definitely be back soon. read more

We were glamping in Santa Barbara and found the Drive In! Our teenagers have never experienced a drive in so we went to see the latest Hunger Games movie. What a fun experience. My daughter came in her pj's we popped some popcorn, packed some snacks and blankets and had a great time. It was nice to be Able to control the sound level of the movie- face it at the movie theater the previews are so loud that you can't hear yourself think. OK let me just start by saying that this place and any other drive-in theater that is still in existence gets five stars for me automatically. This is the kind of thing that does not need explanation or description. If you have then to a drive-in theater then this is instant nostalgia and if you have never been to a drive-in theater I suggest you get there is quick as possible before they're all gone so you can experience a piece of history that is dithering away. Last night was my second time there...saw epic and Fast and furious 6. Every time I take my daughter we have an amazing time. The staff that works there is great..bathrooms are always so clean...only thing that is needed is more lights near the building that has that bathrooms...really dark and uneven grounds makes it hard to walk safely...but other then that I am making amazing memories with my daughter at this drive in....a shout out to the guys that worked the snack bar last night..always nice and smiling when we came in...laughs were shared..the girl though needs to tell her friends standing around talking to her that she is working...we will be back.... , read more

I think Drive ins are awesome!! I am used to going to the ones more north on the central coast and am excited for this one.I do hope it gets busier as the central coast ones since to me it ads to the ambiance of the theatre. A fun and different way of watching movies, an opportunity you don't get just anywhere.

I used to like going here and being able to watch movies but recently didn't like it when my fiancé was almost going to be run over by a car when I asked him who it was in the car it turned out to be the girlfriend of one of the assistance mangers . The bad thing is my fiancé was the assistance manager that night for the drive in and when he asked his coworker to tell his girlfriend to watch out that he was almost going to run him over all the assistance manager said was " I don't care" and laughed in his face. When talked to the really manager about it all he did say " oh shit" and didn't even care . Is this the kind of work environment this company has ? I would not feel safe walking to get food or go to the bathroom. read more

It is such a fun experience going to the drive in! I love that we can take the kids, be in our own car, bring whatever food we want, and just camp out for the evening. And it's always a double feature here, so you can't beat the value. We have never had trouble with sound or a blocked view of the screen, and occasionally Westwind has customer appreciation nights where you get in for free - so if you have any doubts go check out the next one. make sure that you check the weather before you go!! once i went and a heavy fog rolled in and i had no choice but to leave because i literally could not watch the movie. it is a great experience to watch a movie at the drive in no matter how old you are. oh, and that yelp check in deal with the free movie poster? don't count on it. i've tried so many times to get that free poster with no success. they just give them away to whoever. read more

It is definitely an "experience" but I wasn't too impressed. The screen was just a large beat up wooden white square. The picture quality was bad in my opinion. It was hard to focus on the movie as cars kept driving by or turning their lights on the screen and the screen is right by the entrance so I never got "caught" up in the movie and couldn't get past the fact I was sitting in a dirt parking lot. We got there and found out they only take cash and didn't take debit cards or visa? What, in 2016? And the ATM machine charged an extra 3 dollars fee to use. I'm still waiting to see what my bank is also going to charge. I could see how this would be a lot of fun if you were bringing a car full of kids, but I would rather see a movie with a high quality screen in a theatre. read more

We had a great time. HOWEVER! The radio frequency was HORRIBLE. It was full of static and hard to hear at times. When we complained, an employee agreed with us and would ask for the money back. The manager had a different story. He said they only get a complaint or two a show, and suggested we move our vehicle for better reception. Half way through the movie with two cars of kids, that wasn't going to happen. When there was a quiet point in the movie, you could hear a beat of a competing frequency. They need to come up with a fix, instead of telling the customers who are confident enough to report a problem that they need to fix it themselves. This was our first time to go as we are from out of state, but our companions have been there many times and never had this problem. The reception issue was unfortunate, but the managerial response was disappointing. Any sort of solution or compensation (free popcorn, free pass for next time, partial refund, etc) would have improved the encounter. read more

This place is FANTASTIC!!! Great prices for tickets too! My last time i went to the drive-in was at the '101 Drive-in' at ventura way back in 1995. Ya, this site is a lil rough, but it being rare for ventura county, its well worth it!!! Had fun and saw a first rate movie!!! Customers around me were as happy as me, being there! The snack bar had plenty of goodies also!!! I sure hope this drive-in stays open, because me and my family will sure be coming here ALOT!!! Used to love coming here, but not after they changed the rate! Now they charge you per movie! So not worth it! For 2 dollars more, I'd rather go to the actual theaters with comfy seats, indoor (no worries about weather-rain or shine), and no worries about your car battery dying! I was just looking at random stuff online and saw that there was still a drive in theater around. It's about an hour drive from where we live, but figured what the heck. Went there on Friday (8-31-12) with my teenage daughters. We brought in our own snacks and also some Habit. It was great to see that my girls really enjoyed the experience. It brought back a lot of memories for me and hopefully is a start for some for them. We will definitely be back! Please support this drive in so it can survive!! read more
