The course has become even more challenging due to shabby unkept green. I actually saw a ball make a 45degree turn 6" away from the hole. There are still areas that have debris from the fall storms and not having a ranger on the course to speed up playing leaves a lot to be desired. Definitely not a course worth more than $60. The clubhouse is a joke. It's hardly ever open and when it is, the menu is usually parred down to hotdogs and wings. Don't order the $26 pitcher of 19th hole beer!! read more

First golf trip with my buddies in Tampa and heard great things about Westchase! Staff took great care of us upon arrival, giving us rental sets, 2 sleeves of warbirds and range balls. The driving range is aquatic, which is one of the coolest things I have ever experienced as we don't have those in the Chicago area. The course was just challenging enough for advanced golfers like us; hazards are located in the right spots and there's a good amount of water that keeps things interesting. This course is a bit overrated IMHO. I'm an intermediate golfer, some days are better than others. Having been to plenty of country clubs in and out of Florida, I've seen both good and bad. WCGC just missed the mark for me. Some pros and cons. Pros: Fantastic location, easy access with plenty of parking. Carts were in good shape, ride quiet and smooth. The range was serene. I enjoyed knocking balls into the water. Pricing was ok, Small bucket $6 Large bucket $8. Your are not forced to play in a foursome. Some courses love to do this, which I'm ok with, but I'd rather see it as a choice and not a requirement. Water coolers are available at a few holes. Though I wish they had a few more, they come in handy during the hot summer months. Cons: The course has a poor layout. Riding to some of the holes was a bit challenging, Improved signs would benefit players that are unfamiliar with the course. The course is not beginner friendly, there is body of water all around the course. So make sure to pack plenty of golf balls. The rough could use some TLC. It was extremely difficult to hit the balls out the rough, the other issue was simply finding your ball. We had about a dozen balls go MIA when hit into the rough, you walk around long enough you might get lucky and step on your ball as you look for it. They go deep inside like a nail hammered in wood. We found broken Tees left behind all over the course from Golfers not picking up after themselves. At $40, the Rental Clubs are in very poor shape. We received an old set that was still dirty and in poor condition. I hate to bash WCGC in this manner but I have to be honest. I was grateful to have used a generous coupon which included a full round and a free entree at the bar. read more

Overpriced for the $106 green fee. Not one bunker was raked or maintained which was surprising for the price you pay. Pace of play was excellent and the course layout is challenging. Greens were in good condition. I've played other fantastic courses in the area for around the same price that included range balls and better course conditions. read more

Enjoyed my round here at Westchase. I had accidentally booked my GolfNow tee time for Sunday instead of Saturday and they were very accommodating and got me on quickly. This was my first round of golf in Florida. The course was in solid condition except for everything was muddy: fairways, rough, etc. But I assume that has more to do with Florida than the course maintenance. It rains, not their fault. I played the back tees and enjoyed the course from there. Seeing as it was wet I should have played the next tees up because there wasn't any roll out on shots due to the wet. Lesson learned for me. A couple semi blind shots that I had to use a gps distance to get an idea of the length but it was a "fun" challenging course with some easier holes and some difficult ones. Overall enjoyed the round. Didn't play that well but it was a good time. Putting green was great and there was a driving range I saw too. Recommend giving it a shot. read more

My husband and I just played at Westchase and overall it was okay. A couple of the greens were in rough shape, but their fairways had nice, plush grass. Didn't care for the overall design of the course and there is a lot of water and tight fairways, so bring some extra balls if you play here! We also thought it was slightly overpriced for the course conditions (we payed $50 per person and did not take a cart). The number one most annoying bit about this course though was the number of random, non-golfing people walking on the course. We first had to tell two teenage girls they couldn't walk on the course, as they had followed us around for three holes and kept getting in front of our golf shots. Next, about four young boys were on the path through a woodsy part and were yelling and messing around with some gate that was on the course. There was also a random I assume homeowner on the course practicing his pitch shots on one hole when we were trying to hit off the tee and lastly another man collecting golf balls on another hole. The club definitely needs to pay more attention to random individuals just walking on the course and disrupting golfers. I didn't pay to shoo people off your course for you. Overall, if the price was cheaper I would have been more satisfied with my round, but still a pretty course that was challenging. read more

I had the distinct honor of assisting my good friend, Todd Wright (local and national sports personality) with his Fantasy Football Golf Tournament yesterday morning. Westchase Golf Club was just as I remembered it in the early 2000s: majestic and pristine. The staff was very friendly and attentive, as always. The shop had a great selection of golf gear and accessories, and the pros were very friendly, too. The breakfast food we were provided was very good and the wait staff was very attentive. Unfortunately, I was not able to go onto the course itself due to timing constraints. I trust Todd's review because his whole life is golf. read more

Darryl Spelich , Manager of Golf Operations, is the rudest, least customer friendly employee a business could employ. He has absolutely no customer service skills, yells instead of talks, and is sarcastic and demeaning. His employee said our greens fee purchase did not go through on our card, ran the card again and gave a receipt. The next day we saw on our debit card not only the first greens fee charge but a second charge for TEN times the real charge. Not sure if this was attempted fraud or just a mistake. Phoned and got Darryl who was curt and abrupt on the phone, told us we had to return to Westchase Golf Course in person with the card used for the purchase. We drove to the course the next day, met with Darryl who was rude and sarcastic, said we would have the refund within 3 days. Told him he made the situation very difficult since round trip to the course took over an hour and they should have been able to look at their records and see their error. He yelled "Haven't you ever heard of a mistake? I said sorry on the phone!!" Five days later, we returned to the course to let him know the credit had not yet appeared. Again, he blew up, yelling, and banning us from the course. A phone call to the General Manager of Westchase Golf has not been returned. read more

Fun, challenging course. In very good condition with challenging but fair layout. The price, $54 for 18 and cart is a bargain. Bring plenty of balls because you will lose a few. We ate at the club and were served by a very nice, friendly server Brandi. The food and service were very good, we would stop back again on our next visit. Booked a tee time yesterday, showed up for my round today only to find the course was closed. { and had been closed for a few days } Now I get it the course was wet, but I drove 1 hour to play golf here, a phone call canceling the tee time would have been nice especially since it was a time later in the day. I simply won't be back, too many other good options for golf to deal with people who don't care about my time. Ok pros and cons... Pro: course is beautiful and challenging with pretty nice amenities, that's the 1 star. However the course does not drain well so do not play if there has been heavy rain. The course was a swampy mess and was cart path only which is understandable but we played world wood the day before and it was bone dry after rain the previous day. Cons: Costumer service is sub par at best. We booked a tee time a week in advance at $29.99 due to the fact that they would be punching the greens. We arrived and checked in only to be told that the greens had not been punched and the rate was now $50.00. After our four and a half almost five hour round of walking through mud we returned to the cart barn only to be ignored completely by the staff. Knowing that the clubs would be a mess due to the condition of the course we eventually cleaned out our own cart and walked back to our car. In closing the course is very nice and challenging when conditions are perfect but the poor consumer services ruins the experience. For the same money make the trip to world woods for a better experience on a better course with better costume service. read more

(We will save five stars for Copperhead and Old Memorial!) But Westchase is largely restored, kudos to the crew for bringing 7 green all the way back. Impressive! Jarod does an excellent job running the golf and brought a new energy, and Lauren has done the same with her responsibilities, with many events and special occasions on the calendar. The prices for regulars (with Player cards) are very fair, and the only ongoing complaint I will offer is that golfers do not take care of divots nor ball marks on the greens. I think Starters need to give golfers a little pep talk about taking care of the course, and maybe handout repair tools (Maybe get a sponsor logo?) As an incentive. Nice to see all the summer camps for kids with Mike the club pro too. Chef Daniel is innovating and has the right patient approach to creating a menu and daily specials. Blackened shrimp taco this week was quality, not what you'd have found in the past. The dining area now needs a renovation to match his culinary skills. Westchase residents reading this need to come out and support WGC, by playing, or attending the varied events. Follow on FB, and come out for events like the just-started Wednesday Happy Hour. The people working here are all doing a great job, and if you haven't been around it recently, you should try it out. Very challenging course with a fair fee. The course was fun, lost a few balls, but overall would play again. Concerns...1) Very weak pro shop 2) It was 80+ degrees today and the only time we saw a bev cart was when we were leaving!! Course was full too! I mean seriously?!?! 3) Drink prices steep as always..$17.50 for a six pack and the Bloody Mary I had was like $11 . 3) There are no coolers on the cart, and the course does not have cooler bags...instead you get a clear plastic bag with ice ...pretty lame. 4) The carts do not have GPS or USB outlets, and for this course...a GPS is very important! So, not only behind the times...but pretty lame also. read more

What a great course in a great area!! I love playing this course when I get a chance. It is a bit on the short side for someone with a driving distance of 270+ so you are left with wedges and irons into par 5. It is in great shape and I am always paired up with great people. I wish the course had a way to make comments on their website, they do not. I would rather make my case directly to the course. I live in Westchase near the course, I'm an above average golfer and I've played it dozens of times. I want the course to stay open (it's for sale) however, despite it's great condition and beauty, the consensus among many, many locals is that the premium price and the fact that it is unforgivable (i.e. amateurs should bring a minimum of 2 doz balls which can equate to the same $$ as the green fees) make it non-competitive with other close and nice courses. Case in point is the par 3 #3 where the white tees are routinely 200 yards which is all carry over cat tails and water (at humid, sea level). All of the holes are treacherous "ball eaters." If you miss the fairway/green kiss ball and score goodbye. I understand that the course has a 128 slope, great. In order to stay in business and take advantage of the condition and beauty of the course, they have to bring in the "white tee" players because that's where the $$ is. Keep the back tees 130+ for those who have that kind of game but please lower the slope on the amateur tees so that I can convince more people to come play read more

Great deal for new Westchase residents! Disclaimer: My review is very much based on the fact that we had a voucher for a free round that included lunch. I had been there for lessons when I was younger, but right now a round is a little too expensive for me. The voucher was for 2 free rounds, I was very surprised we didn't have to pay for carts and could order the free lunch off the menu. The course is currently in very good shape, however, it doesn't do the best after a bit of rain and was cart path only with a decent amount of standing water. While the greens were a little slower, they were all nice and green. The staff were all very nice and friendly- definitely makes for a great experience. I will definitely be back to use their practice areas (range balls are cheap!) and have lunch/dinner, and will look out for good deals to get back on the course again! read more

Well I am not gonna tell you that you will meet Tiger or Phil on the fairway but as far as courses go I think that you will be pleasantly surprised. As far as Tampa goes I would rank it in the middle of the pack as far as courses goes, but then again when you play as bad as I do, the putt putt on US 19 is considered difficult for me. For the average golfer this is an enjoyable course and tee times are fairly easy to get. read more

The second star is because it is a reasonably challenging, well-maintained course. Warning, though: their league players run the show and can make it an extremely unpleasant experience. My 7-year-old competitive golfer has played the course numerous times, and while in the past we've been only inconvenienced by the league players being allowed to tee off over a scheduled tournament start time (delaying tee times for over an hour), or just plain ridiculous delays at the tee, today we were bullied by a group of crotchety old men to the extent that they had my son removed from the course in the middle of a hole. Perhaps it would have been understandable had we been hitting multiple balls/taking undue time for coaching/clearly unable to handle the course/demonstrating poor etiquette; however, it was made clear to us that they simply didn't want him out there. The starter told us in no uncertain terms that we were asked to leave because their league players bring a lot of money to the club. Well, so do the families of junior golfers, because we refer our tournament friends and friends looking to start the game to the courses we love. This is no longer one of those clubs. If you don't mind putting up with the pandering and crankiness, you might enjoy the course. Otherwise, save your pricey fees and go elsewhere. read more

One star only because the cart girl was pleasant and made plenty of stops. As for the golf course, in golf terms, they were a -1. I've played golf for the last 50 years and was in the golf business for about 20 years. This is by far the most overhyped golf course I have ever been on. Their website says named by the National Golf Foundation as one of the top 10 courses in the country and #1 in the state of of Florida for course conditions, service and value. That statement is so ridiculous that we actually called the National Golf Foundation from the course. They had no idea what we were talking about because they said they do not even rate courses in that manner. Sounds to them and to us like someone at Westchase if flat out lying. NGF was going to be making a cal to the course. My brother very very nicely advised the golf staff that perhaps the website had over promised an under delivered. They seemed sincere in saying that it should be changed and that the website would be corrected, but then my other brother heard them laughing about it after they walked away. If the service is that bad and the course even worse, I'm thinking not much chance that this place ranks in the top 1000 courses in the country. If you want a very municipal type course at a reasonable price, go play it. If you think you are getting a top notch experience, DO NOT GO THERE. If you listen to one review, trust me on this that you will absolutely be disappointed. Two different bathroom areas on the course that literally were falling apart. Tees that hadn't been cut in days and in some cases, there was barely enough grass on them to cut. Greens that ran at about a 6 max on the stimp meter. If you know what that it, you know the greens sucked. If you don't know what the stimp rating is, a 6 is like putting on your shag carpet. But your carpet is nicer! Do yourself a favor and teach this place a real lesson and don't go. Maybe some empty tee times will teach them a real lesson read more
