Well the dr told me she had concerns in my left eye. I need to come every six months and to watch it. When I bought my glasses at different stores they gave free eye exams and said nothing is wrong except getting cataracts. Who can we trust? read more

I have been with Dr.Bruce Gordon for many years. I am now seeing his Son, Dr.James Gordon at Westchester Eye Assoc. This is a busy place and one must be patient. I found the Office Bright, Clean, and just enough Seating. This is a Group of Eye Doctors and Surgeons, moved from Private Practice many years ago. I had no issue with my wait time, or Dr.Gordons reccomendation to go to a more experienced Occular Surgeon. The Bill was for his time. Hes very Helpful and Direct. I will go back after Surgery, to get a full eye Exam This is a Great Place for Children too. There are many options to buy Eyeglasses, there as well. read more

If I could put a zero star on this review, I would. My whole family has been going to this practice for 15 years. Recently they enforced a cancellation policy of 24h. No matter what the reason is, if u cancel or want to reschedule less than 24h before the appointment, you have to pay 50$. Today they mis booked the time so I ask to reschedule because I could not make it at the time THEY booked by mistake and they said they will have to charge me the cancellation fee. Before the practice merged with Sight MD, it was fine. Now I got a call from the surgical coordinator Clara that the cataract surgery for my husband scheduled and paid for January 4, 2021 since July 13, 2020 was canceled because the laser was broken. I was asked to call to arrange another appointment. I did that six times. When Clara finally got back to me on a phone number indicating "Tax Reduction"???, whatever that has to do with an ophthalmological practice, eight days later to reschedule, she insisted I had been called, a bald-face lie. She also could not give me times for the surgery or pre-op covid test. She was nasty and was in dire need of interpersonal relationship training. I have been using Westchester Eye for many years. As someone else noted, they recently merged with SightMD. Ever since this happened, the customer service has gone into the toilet. They don't even return phone calls ... at all. You are completely ignored. When you call SightMD, they claim that they have no way to connect you to a supervisor or manager. All they can do is to forward you back (once again) to a voice-mail. It pains me to say it, but it is likely that I will be abandoning this practice and making a change soon. I can deal with a delay in a return call, I cannot deal with being completely ignored ... consistently. read more

I've been coming here since I first moved to Harrison and they had been my favorite eye doctor for years. Recently there has been a staff member named Stephanie that constantly has been rude to me and talks trash about her co workers and doctors when we're in the room alone. Saw Dr. Abadir on my last appointment (had been seeing Bruce Gordon for years). She is FABULOUS -- took time with exam, the explanations, preventative suggestions, will continue with her for sure. The optical department onsite is AWFUL, not helpful, and took 3 WEEKS to fulfill the prescription. Never called about glasses, had to go over there. NOT A FAN. If you're looking for facial fillers of any type, Dr. James Gordon is the absolute best ever. He is obviously very skilled & knowledgeable, and most importantly, he is very careful not to over inject. I went to him with a close friend of mine, and we both could not be happier with our results. In addition, his bedside manner is absolutely impeccable. Sadly, I must endorse the recent negative review. The doctors are outstanding. However, since their acquisition by SIGHT. The patient operations system is a zero. Waiting on hold for 20 minutes attempting to schedule my annual check up and then disconnected. Call back on hold for 11 minutes. Curt telephone staff. I requested that my medical records be ready for me to pickup at my scheduled appointment. Was told I had to speak to another department and was disconnected. The wait times in the office and to get a call back are atrocious. Loved everything from the friendly staff at check in to the modern equipment (no more eye drops & dark glasses or blowing wind in your eyes!) The doctor was super smart, took her time, explained everything, also thoughtful about future of my eyes. She was approachable & friendly. When I struggled with my new progressives she & the eye glasses people made time for me, double checked the prescription. I went to visit Dr James Gordon this morning after arranging a consultation regarding ptosis of my left eye with his very capable staff. Obviously I was nervous ... My eyelid has been an annoyance and had an effect on me for years. In fact it's totally effected my self esteem. In my head I knew I needed surgery ... But I was completely wrong. The best decision I made was choosing Dr.James GORDON for my cataract surgery. From the beginning of the process till the end I knew I was in the hands of the best, the most thorough exam I've ever had determined that I had a cataract, the doctor explained everything ,and understood my fears , he never made me feel pressured to have the procedure and let me return to ask my questions all over again. I can't say enough about the surgical center itself, from the minute I walked in they treated me with kindness and respect , they all calmed my fears and helped me through what was a relatively quick , and painless surgery. This ophthalmology practice I use has recently (Fall 2019) merged with SightMD; a mega-practice conglomerate with 30 offices in the NYC Metropolitan area. They have 70 MDs on staff. Since they recently took over my local practice, there has been nothing but confusion and poor service. Patients must talk to a Call Center to get any info to their doc; and I do not want to discuss my medical issues with a phone operator. My appts have magically been cancelled, with no notice. I have no complaint with my doc, he is fine. But the bureaucracy involved with negotiating this medical behemoth is awful. Also, some staff seem to have no idea about billing and scheduling; and are somewhat dismissive of patients. Def this merger is a major negative to the soul of this practice. If it does not improve I will leave - as much as I like the doc that has been treating me for years. read more

I have not been here for years but I was very dissatisfied. Refractions for eyeglassses were done fast and inaccurate. I view the place as a factory. When I spend hundred of dollars for eyeglasses and lenses, my refraction must be perfect. My current opthalmologist is not a factory setting and spends the proper time with me and refines the prescription to perfection. read more

Medical staff is friendly and professional. However the office staff is just incompetent. In June, I changed jobs and I needed new glasses. I called to have the prescription for my regular glasses, the office staff informed me the exam for regular glasses was not done during my previous visit. I was a bit surprised since I had both exams done in one appointment at my old doctor's office. So I made the appointment for regular glasses. First, I found out Dr. Gordon doesn't take my new insurance- EyeMed, so I have to change doctors, ok. Second, appointment wasn't available until October, fine. For work reasons, in October I had to postpone my appointment, no availability until December! Fine. Today, I go to my appointment and they had made the appointment with Dr. Gordon who doesn't take my insurance!! And the only doctor who accepts EyeMed and was supposed to see me is booked. My options? Continue with my appointment with Dr. Gordon and pay out of pocket! Or find another appointment in January!! I had to take a day off today to see this doctor. I've waited almost 6 months to have my glasses. Office staff didn't even apologize until I mentioned how disappointed I was in their service. They didn't offer to put me in the waiting list in case of cancellations until I inquired so. To top it off, another girl came and said that regardless I wasn't eligible to exams or glasses until January because I saw a doctor in January. She didn't even noticed that I changed insurance and have different policy #'s giving false information!! I work in benefits at my job and I know my coverage and that's why I declined to be seen today by Dr. Gordon. Why would I have to pay for a visit that's 100% covered under my vision insurance? If it was the office staff fault. I tried to call the office manager Peti but she was not at her desk. **Update* just received a call from the office. 1. Incompetent billing staff..awful phone presence. Went for a few years with 3 family members. Recently called for appointment..was told .."yeah, you owe us $10 from 2014..4 years ago. I said doesn't really make sense as I've been in after the date you are saying and in fact have been in with my daughter twice and no mention about a 2014 bill. Said I'd like to make an appointment for my eye and we can go just go over bill and I'll pay then Sorry ..no appointment until you pay bill.. While the medical care is "ok", not great, this place leaves me cold. It's very non personal, like a factory. They are more concerned with making the eye glass sales then anything else. Wait time enormous. My elderly sickly dad(who uses a walker) had a 1:15pm appt., it's now 3:30pm and we are still here. Handicap parking is a joke, you have to walk over a long bridge, then down a hallway, the down another hallway. No wheel chairs available at the entrance. It took my dad 35 minutes to get from car to office, he was exhausted! There are too many quality eye doctors around to deal with this. This place need to appreciate their patients, while they still have them. This will be our last time here. read more

Reading the great reviews for the doctors, and because of the location/parking availability and onsite selection of glasses, I really wanted to have services done here. I had high hopes but ultimately I am dissatisfied, and unfortunately will not even get to see ANY doctor. I made an appointment with ease however, I called to reschedule the appointment a week in advance, hoping for a later date. Receptionist was abrupt, rude, and condescending; could not accommodate my request for a later appointment so unfortunately I will be taking my business elsewhere. I informed her to just cancel the existing appointment and I will find another provider and her response was, "ok." No attempt to rectify the situation in any way, shape, or form. All around horrible from the wait time to the office staff. One of my coworkers made an appt for me at around 3:30pm one afternoon for the following day at around that time. I called on the morning of the appt at around 10 am to say I was working after the appt and couldn't get my eyes dilated to which the office staff became clearly miffed at me saying then the doctor couldn't likely do what they needed to do. So I said ok let me reschedule and they said they were going to charge me a no show fee because I gave them less than 24 hrs notice. I couldn't believe it, I hadn't even had the appt for 24 hours and the only reason I was cancelling was because THEY told me to since I couldn't get my eyes dilated. This place is a joke between the wait times and the rude staff. This is totally not worth it for anyone to go through. read more

More than helpful. I would highly recommend this Doctor to all. Knowledgeable, helpful in finding other doctors when needed. Even makes phone calls to double check his recommendations. Exactly what I needed after having a bad experience with another doctor. He listens to what you say and feel, which was important to me. I have very mixed feelings about this practice. First and foremost, the doctors are excellent. I have been for routine eye exams, and have also had surgery performed by a doctor in this office and have been very satisfied. The negatives are more toward the general experience of visiting the office. The new offices in Harrison are nice, and there is ample parking (as opposed to the old offices). However, arriving for an 8:30 appointment there were already tons of people there in front of me-- it was clear that I would not be taken even close to 8:30. I was sitting in the waiting room pretty miffed about the patient experience, but once I was called in (after 9:00), the friendliness of the woman doing the refraction put me in a better mood. And once I saw my doctor, I realized why I use this practice. Because of the doctors. Nonetheless, I do think that Westchester Eye Associates could create a much better patient experience by staggering appointments more and not making people wait endlessly. Our time is valuable too. I saw Dr Potash a few weeks ago for my glaucoma, and he was WONDERFUL! Such a nice guy, and he explained my condition to me in great detail, despite how busy his office seemed to be. I have read that he has a great reputation, which apparently is very well deserved. He adjusted my medication, and I will be returning to see him soon. I usually go to an Optometrist for my annual eye exams, but have been to Dr. Potash a couple of times over the past 20 years. Since he's on my insurance plan, I thought I would call the office to find out what the charges would be to see him for an annual exam, since I know that there are some things such as refraction, which my insurance doesn't cover. The woman I spoke to on the phone was frighteningly unhelpful both in her lack of interest, and her weak mental capacity. Honestly, doctors have to understand that they will be judged by the amount of care they put into the quality of their practices. The first assistant was not friendly, over talked me and was abrupt. The other assistants were friendly and patient as they conducted some tests. The doctor was assisting several patients at one time so he was in and out and a 9:15 appointment took nearly two hours! However, he did apologize and I do like his manner. I feel compelled to write this years after my association with Dr James Gordon because it is now that things are clearer vis-à-vis what may have transpired. I have a long history with Westchester Eye Associates but I will get to the point at hand and I will present only the facts and leave the interpretation to the reader. I had a severe case of floaters - especially in my left eye which also had a cataract. We decided to implant an IOL thereby addressing the cataract and correcting my vision. After the surgery, Dr J Gordon referenced difficulties because I kept moving during surgery. I had 2-3 post-operative appointments at which I complained that the floater situation was worse and that there was a wave-like phenomenon now present. Each time, Dr J Gordon dismissed my complaint or distracted from the conversation. A few months later I visited a specialist in floaters in another state to address the floater issue. Upon examination, this doctor indicated that I had a Post-Vitreous Detachment (PVD) in my left eye and that this was likely the cause of the wave distortion I was seeing. I returned to Dr J Gordon and mentioned this to which he replied to the effect of - "that's a normal or common consequence of cataract surgery". First, I was extremely disappointed that Dr J Gordon, my primary eye care physician, never mentioned the PVD. I had to get this news from another doctor from another state. Second, I cannot believe that after 3 post-operative examinations and my complaints, Dr J Gordon did not see or know about the PVD. Third, his post-surgery comment about me moving around too much now made more sense to me. I am not a doctor but I would speculate that if a patient is moving around too much (likely the fault of poor administration by the anesthesiologist), it may cause detachment of the vitreous during cataract surgery. Finally, considering the doctor's post-operative behavior, the term "cover-up" certainly comes to mind as there was never a forthright mentioning of the PVD and attempts to discuss it were tactfully dismissed. Subsequently, I got a complete vitrectomy from another institute which has addressed my floater situation to great satisfaction. This institute also confirmed existence of the PVD. My final thoughts - Dr J Gordon is a charismatic and smart young doctor and I enjoyed my conversations with him. It took me a few years to piece together what happened because I could not believe he could be anything less than genuine. I advise however, that patients always be careful. Healthcare is not a matter of personality but of professionalism. I see he has received much high praise and positive reviews. I am sure much of this is deserved. However, I hope my case encourages others to focus, ask the tough questions persistently, and not believe that doctors can do no wrong. read more

Denied me medical attention. Held me hostage while I couldn't see out of my eye and requested I make a phone payment and give my credit card number after I had already paid via mail. Honestly over $100 it is not good business to deny someone who is in severe pain. It is safe to say I will not be returning. Dr. James Gordon's father Bruce was the number ophthalmologist in Westchester in the mid-1970s. I followed him over the years from his first small office to bigger offices and now to this attractive ,convenient and efficient modern multi operatory facility. They have a wonderful store with beautiful frames for your glasses and terrific people to help you. I am particularly fond of Sheryl who has a great eye for which frames are good on one's face. James is an elegant and kind man. He did not seem rushed and explained everything to me. When I asked him about cosmetic surgery for my lower lids he was very candid and told me it was not time for me to do something like that. When I expressed concerned about my upper lids which have ptosis,he have me a sample of his patented drops which opened my eyes considerably. Due to our family's history I have known Dr. James Gordon since he was a very young man. I am now going to entrust my visual and cosmetic I care with him. read more

the bad thing is Im not a patient here, I went to help a friend. This place is a zoo ! its super loud in there, it seems like the doctors book too many patients at once but the staff seems nice. One thing my friend complained about is her billing questions and bills. For a place that big with 7 doctors, why is there no billing department and only one person for billing? no wonder her calls are never returned ! I've found a wonderful practitioner at Westchester Eye. Dr. Annmary Abidir is not only very competent but unusually sensitive to patient's needs. She has been treating me for several years and the best review I can give her is to tell you that if she ever leaves this practice I will follow her. She regularly sees me within a couple of minutes of my appointment and always spends as much time as necessary to provide the care necessary. This consistency is remarkable as I now see her on a weekly basis to care for a chronic condition. read more

Incredibly frustrating and negative experience with the back office. They will not return calls so I am waiting on a prescription for contact lenses - 3 months after I met with Dr. Greenbaum.
