Gas prices are reasonable for the Thruway, there is a Travel store, that has things such as snacks, drinks, sundries, , etc. There was also a "taste NY" store, with souvenirs, and New York State products. The reason I'm taking off a star, is there are only two places to get something to eat. There is a Popeyes chicken, but it is not open in the morning. The only other business is a Dunkin' Donuts.. They have food, donuts, coffee, etc., but that's your only choice when Popeyes is closed Overall, it's a good travel plaza.

The first room I was given smelled of marijuana and was dirty. The second room I was given was only marginally better in that there was no smell of marijuana. However, the room smelled of stale cigarettes and mold. The room was also very dirty. I had to clean the AC with a washcloth before turning it on to remove the grime, hair and grease. There was grit and dirt all around the sink. The bathroom floor had grit around the toilet bowl, and the bathtub is starting to rust on the bottom. The floor in the main portion of the room was also dirty with grit and dusty in the corners. There appeared to be a fan on the wall, but it was stuffed with a plastic bag. The wall behind the desk chair is peeling, the wall beneath the sink mirror is peeling, and the light above the sink has exposed wires. There were no hangars. The linens on the bed were stained. Friday night I got very little sleep because of the odor of the room. Saturday night I purchased an air freshener/deodorizer in the hopes that would help mitigate the odor. It did, but barely. All in all, this was not what I expected for a room advertising itself as "Deluxe". This entire property is extremely rundown, with peeling paint and rotten wood showing. Sunday morning, at check out, I showed the desk clerk the pictures I had taken on my phone and asked for a refund. He said he would have the manager call me, but I have heard nothing. I also did not receive a receipt. I reached out to the Guest Reservations of Red Roof Inn and they replied twice with apologies and an offer of points, which I rejected as I would not ever want to stay at any of their properties. I asked for a refund. The last email I received said there was nothing more they can do and are closing my claim. Needless to say this is not good customer relations or god customer satisfaction. I will never stay at any of their hotels. If there had been any availability at other hotels in the area I would have booked elsewhere.

Sunoco gas station highway side and EV charge stations in parking area. Restrooms are large; two rows of sinks and stalls with a diaper stations at entrance of both rows. Sinks have soap/water/dryer all in a row. Toilets are low to accommodate smaller humans and hooks are low on the stall door. Facility was clean and well stocked. A bottle filling station is near the restroom entrance as well as family restrooms. An AED is by the store side entrance. Showers are available through the store which sells a variety of drinks, snacks and souveniers. Plenty of seats in the food hall. Panera area has some comfortable seats near a gas fireplace (not operating in July). Dunkin', Popeye's and BK are the other food choices. Large parking area. A local farm had set up a small stand selling fresh produce and prepared items on the sidewalk out front.

It was midday on a Friday. I was totally shocked to see a LONG line for the ladies rest room. The kind of line you'd possibility see at a large sporting event or concert, not at a thruway rest area. Once inside, I saw there were 5 stalls and 3 sinks. I'd estimate the old building had closer to 20 stalls. Move on to the food. There's a Starbucks and a Shake Shake. The line here was longer than the restroom line. Then I noticed there was seating for less than 20 people. I can tell you there were numerous people who were just as unhappy about the situation as me. So, NYS spent millions on these 'improvements'. Makes no sense. 2023-73

This happened right in front of the Starbucks coffee shop sometimes between noon and 2PM. Few tourists came to help, but the girls from Starbucks were particularly nice and offered us free hot chocolate! We were a bit shaken by the accident and a hot drink served with a smile made a difference. Please extend our thanks to the Starbucks team of Sunday afternoon, in addition to our thanks offered in person.
