The company put too much refrigerant in my A/C - I called to get a second opinion because they told me false information and was told there was so much refriderant in my A/C unit that it would ruin my air compressor. Our heater/furnace in our house was making strange noises, and using those small plug in space heaters skyrocketed our electric bill. I had called a few places and was not able to get a return call and one place quoted me almost 2k more for a basic heater! Then I called Western Air Mechanical and spoke to Sam, not only about my house, but my office heating system as well. He was extremely helpful and knowledgeable and had his technician's come out to both my house and office the very next day! Like every purchase you make, there are always several upgrade options available. Sam went over each option with me and educated me on the pros and the cons. We decided to upgrade to the UV Light along with the air filtration system with the Heater/Furnace install at our house. What a DIFFERENCE! Not only has our electric bill reduced dramatically due to the energy saving bonuses on the unit, the "allergies" both my son and I have been plagued are no longer an issue. The air is CLEAN in our home and we are now quite warm on cozy on those freezing cold nights. The work done on my office was also a very good experience and we will be using them exclusively for all future air/heating issues and maintenance. I hate to update my review with a low rating because Sam (the owner) is a "nice" person, but I can no longer vouch for his company. The first 2 interactions with Sam were fantastic which started 5 years ago. However, the last 3 years have been interactions with his employees and they have been disappointing. We replaced our entire AC system 2 years ago ( and our rental unit's ) and we have had issues every year during the hottest days of the summer. Last year, a part happened to break just weeks after the warranty expired so we ended up paying to replace the part. We also had to pay to add more coolant since the broken part leaked. This year my system broke down again so I booked an appointment and no one even showed up! When I called, Sam replied that their system had a problem and mixed up my appointment with someone else. I decided to give my plumber a call since his son is hvac certified and he found out that there was too much coolant which caused our unit to shut down when it gets too hot. Having your AC not work on the hottest days of the summer makes you regret spending $7k plus to replace your AC unit. I hope this doesn't happen again next year. read more

We had good experiences with this company in the past. They were able to solve our a/c issues during the summer time, and we really were thinking of using this company to provide routine maintenance going forward on all the major appliances they installed in the house. However, we recently made a service call to fix the water heater in October 2022 (when it was really cold). The technician came the next morning and was unable to turn on the pilot light to heat the water, and believed the controller was faulty. The technician said the company would provide a quote, but stated that the parts are very common and it's a common fix. The company quoted me almost $1,000 dollars for the fix (due to inflation and many other factors). Luckily, we had a family handyman come to diagnose the problem. Our handyman was able turn on the pilot light in less than 10 minutes, and said if the issue is really due to a faulty controller, parts and labor would run about $400-$500. I don't know if this company misdiagnosed the problem. I don't work in this field, and I'm sure mistakes can always happen. I'm not saying what this company did was predatory pricing, but then again... I'm not saying it wasn't. I was really hoping we found a trustworthy company, but going forward we will be looking for other local technicians to support. PS. the technician who came to diagnose the problem left the control dial on Pilot instead of Off. Not sure if that matters since the control was supposed to be faulty. However, I did smell some gas, and turned the control dial to Off. read more

Hate to have to update this review, but we had our ac unit completely replaced two years ago and have had problems with it every summer since. It always stops working on the hottest days of the year. Last year we had someone come and look at it. It took a while because they couldn't figure out the problem, they said a part was probably broken but it just happened to be past warranty... so we paid again to get it fixed. We were also told our coolant was low so we paid to fill it again. Keep in mind this was after one year. Anyways, the same thing happened this summer, however, no one showed up to our appointment. They said it was a computer issue and it was never added to the system... luckily, we found someone else to come and they found the problem right away-- the problem was that they overfilled our coolant! So every time it got too hot, the unit pressure was too high causing it to stop. So not only did we pay extra money but it was causing even more problems. We have a Fujitsu mini split AC system. It stopped working and was flashing lights. When we called this company we told them the type of system we have. They sent out a man who had no idea what he was looking at. He opened the front of the unit and then said he needed to call the office. He then stood there scratching his head staring at the unit. Then he said he didn't know and that the head guy is the one who knows about these units. He said it was "above his pay grade" and they would send someone out the next day. The next day a lady from the office called to schedule the other technician since the other guy did have the "tool" to work on our unit. She then said it 4 more times how the guy who came to our house didn't have the "tool" because the other guy had it. It was really insulting that they would make up a bull shit story about a tool. We were there we saw that he was unqualified. He even admitted it to us. Really bad customer service. I don't want to work with a company that would lie to me. What would stop them from lying about other things. read more

Soooo AGAIN I had the opportunity to utilize this wonderful company. On 11 June in the middle of the night my AC stopped working. One of the hottest day in LBC) I contacted my landlord and Sam on 12 June (Western Air Mechanical) a few questions were asked by Sam and he was able to narrow down that it was the outside compressor. He came by and was able to temporarily fix and fill it, so I would have air during the weekend. (very appreciative) 1st thing Monday morning the "team" arrived (Mike, Hector and Tim (new guy who isn't new anymore lol -- see my previous review inside joke). They were professional, kind and aware of the current COVID19 situation and adhered to ALL Safe/Social Distancing recommendations. Everyone was masked, had on shoe covers, and placed tarps to protect the hardwood floors. They had to replace outside compressor and do work inside my attic and change a few items because of the new compressor installed. Everything was completed and checked for operation. I had figurines on my wall in the bathroom, they removed them to be able to reach attic and returned everything as it was in the beginning. I am extremely pleased with Western Air Mechanical (Sam, Mike, Hector and Tim)! It was a long job and they kept me posted with job status. So what did I get for my $59 service call...not much. They did arrive promptly but upon inspecting my system, they didn't do much other than saying its old and suggested I get a completely brand new system. When asked how much will that be, he said he needed to take measurements to ensure its sized right. Ok, made sense. I then told him about a leak in the blower and asked to inspect to see if it can be repaired. He brought his ladder and peaked at the unit. He didn't even bother to do anything other than saying, it's old...replace it. And that is how $59 is spent with them. When he left, he said that he'll be generating a quote for a whole new system...but wait, didn't you say you needed to take measurements? When did that happen? It's been a week and still no quote...figures. Lastly, they didn't even put back the breaker they pulled out. This was discovered when I brought in another contractor for his opinion. And yes, the other contractor was able to get me fixed without replacing the entire unit. read more

Our AC just quit yesterday and Sam came out today, diagnosed the problem as a blown capacitor. He spent an hour going through everything. He had the part in his van so he didn't need to make a 2nd trip. I know some people are whining about their quote, but my guess is that they don't value a professional's time. My heater went out and my landlord called this company out to give an estimate. The kid they send over here had no idea what he was doing. He looked like he was high when he showed up. Granted my landlord went with the least professional(cheapest) quote he can get. They showed up a couple days later to install the heater. They left a mess on the carpet and in the bathroom. I had to clean up after they left. Piss all around my toilet and floor. It took them 8 hours to install a heater in my attic. Finally it was up and running. The next day I go to turn the air conditioning on and it won't work. I call them and the kid answers the phone half awake. Tells me he has 16 calls today and that they are booked up. I asked to speak to the owner Sam. To my surprise he replies " this is Sam." Sam the owner has a strong accent and would have not been so rude over the phone. Well instead of waiting for a couple days I went up there and found the wires to the condenser aren't hooked up right. I fixed it! Also found out the light in the hallway was broke during the install and left very carefully in the upright position. Horrible customer service and very disappointed.
