New units are expensive but they offer financing and after some googling I went with the lowest standard model and was able to have an install the next day, so just one day of sweltering! Juan and Alan came out and did a professional job installing and when they ran into a problem with my existing blower (located in the base heater) Frank came out and was more than accommodating and even drove for an hour to get a replacement. He also installed a new cleanout/access valve on the condensate line, which should make future maintenance much easier. What impressed me most was that he went the extra mile and checked the entire drainage setup. He noticed dark buildup inside the small tubing near our sink, removed and thoroughly cleaned it, and then reconnected the tubing much more efficiently. The previous setup had excess tubing that was bending/kinking, which may have contributed to the drainage problem. Jay took the time to explain what he was doing and why, and he was extremely friendly and helpful throughout the entire visit. He replaced my filters, walked me through what caused the problem, and gave me some helpful advice (and a little lecture ) about maintenance and things I can do differently to help my system last longer. He explained that he can get my AC fixed and running today, but because of the age and condition of the system, it would probably make more sense financially to start thinking about replacing it rather than continuing to put money into repairs.
