Worst food ever, everything was cold, bbq was so spicy you could not eat it, went to the bar due to table not ready, no one would wait on you, our table was next to the wall which is where the heat came out which was the only thing hot all night , if you want a place to take kids and let them run loose this is it, but don't plan on eating good food the buffet was like going to Ryan's but not as good. read more

Ride up is wonderful. The entire Steamboat valley was lit up, and the Christmas lights were lovey and clearly coordinated by the resort. It is almost worth doing for this view. Reservations were a hassle. I waited on hold forever and was able to go on my phone via Open Table and make a reservation before anyone ever came on the line. The Steamboat reservation system needs a lot of work. I also had to cancel a reservation at Hazies and that was even more of a hassle. It was $53 for an adult, which is pricy. The food was good, and the Steamboat staff was great, as they were all over the resort. The reservation email said our slot was 6pm, but that was not the meal time, rather the report to the gondola time. They, inexplicably, would not let us go up 15 minutes early so we had to just wait--stupid customer service move. All in all, it is expensive for the quality of the food. Reminded me of eating at Windows on the World at the Twin Towers: you are not really there to eat. This is not a BBQ--it is a pretty standard buffet with baked beans and short ribs. I can't imagine that anything was cooked BBQ style. The prime rib was good, ask for a more well done piece: what the guy was carving almost looked alive. There did not seem to be a lot between bloody and cooked through. The band was very fun. Kids under 10 dominated the dance floor but if you are not shy there is fun to be had. Honesty, my legs were kind of dead after a day on the slopes. A slow dance with the MRS was nice. read more

We visited on their first evening of the ski season. There were certainly some "kinks" in their service and some fine-tuning is definitely needed. I found the food to be mediocre, but I am not a big fan of BBQ. I grew up in Kansas City and have had enough great BBQ to last me a lifetime! Although I chose not to have dessert, the dessert bar had many fine choices and was a highlight, for sure. The band was very good and engaging with the diners. Kids seemed to enjoy it thoroughly, making this restaurant very family-friendly. Much finer dining on the mountain can be found at Hazie's, Four Points, and Ragnar's. read more

This is a great venue for groups and families with younger kids. The night time gondola ride is beautiful. If you can, make your reservation around sunset for an extra-special ride up the mountain. The staff is friendly, and the buffet holds a selection of chicken and ribs with BBQ sauce, salmon and prime rib. Accompanying dishes are mashed potatoes, BBQ beans, sauteed veggies, and mac and cheese. Corn bread and honey as well as a family-style salad are provided at the table and there is an ample dessert bar adjacent from the BBQ buffet. This venue is unique because younger ones can dance to and interact with a live band as well as enjoy the views from the gondola and the Thunderhead Lodge. There is also a set time for "mom and dad" to dance, and dance instruction for those who choose to participate. The band program is geared towards entertaining younger folks and encouraging family participation, although the players are musicians as well as entertainers and can perform a variety of requests. I would recommend bringing a lot of energy, a big appetite and a big fun group or kids to this enjoyable family space. read more

Tonight is our last night in Steamboat and this was the perfect place to have our last dinner! The food was great, the service was outstanding, and the kids had a blast dancing to the live music. We did a sleigh ride just before dinner, making the food and atmosphere even better. read more

I probably would only do this once in my life, but it was fun. We were surprised of how few tourists that actually did this and how many locals that showed up. It was a fun night out with the kids, and especially great for smaller kids. Our children were a little too old for this, just borderline for them. A beautiful gondola ride takes you up above the city and one can enjoy the night view of the area. They organize this ride really nicely so that one sits with your own group and noone else. Can be very romantic. They hand you blankets etc if you need so. Getting to the top we were led to the main dining room (usually they use this as cafeteria during the day) but for the evening they have set it up differently with tablecloths etc. There is a stage and lots of lots of food. The food was much better than expected, but it is buffet food so don't get your hopes all the way up there. Prime rib and the bbq ribs definitely as good if not better than the expensive steakhouses downtown. Lots of delicious salat choices. and a big kudos - they had all the allergy and food intolerance information handy and written up so it made it very easy. Service was super and better than a lot of the downtown restaurants. The staff was so friendly and happy and really made sure to make you feel welcome. An average band played and entertained. It was a fun experience for the children into country and western ways. Lots of locals went there as well. One surprise however is that although the price was not low then some not so sophisticated families went and one wouldn't expect moms push and squeeze to get ahead at the buffet, especially when lines almost non existent. A fun experience I would recommend everyone to try at least once, even if I don't want to do it again myself. read more

We've done this one before - about 10 years ago. And our experience was the same - the ride up the gondola, live music, etc. is great. But the food really is awful. I'd give it a 3 on a scale from 1 to 10. If we were paying less, I wouldn't be so negative but we were there on Christmas Eve and paid $250 for a family of 5. That's less than we paid at the E3 steakhouse a few nights earlier. Definitely not worth it. I think the concept is great - they just need to up the ante with the food quality and advertise "new and improved menu" once they do. read more

I wouldn't recommend this restaurant because the food is not worth the price. We were looking for BBQ and there was nothing that resemble BBQ. The Salmon was over cooked. The prime rib was very tough, and the ribs were burnt. Although it was a lively atmosphere, it is not worth the price at all. It is ridiculous how much they charge. If you have little kids, you may want to consider it, but for my children, who are 9 and 11, they were definitely bored. The only thing cool was the ride up on the gondola at night .
