Decided to go get an eye check-up during a business trip. I thought my eyes were getting worse since I hadn't worn them for a few years. It didn't take long to take care of the paperwork stuff and to see the optometrist. He was a nice fellow that took the time to explain to me what I had (lazy eye) and that I didn't really need glasses. I ended up getting a pair just to keep my mind at ease. They were very helpful in helping me choose out a pair the cheapest pair of frames with scratch and impact resistant lens. They weren't pushy or tried to get me to buy more expensive frames. They just explained to me the differences in lens and helped me make a more informative choice. All in one: great and knowledgeable Optometrist with a friendly staff that I'd go back and see again. read more

I was looking to set up my initial visit with a new optometrist, but unfortunately, my experience with the front desk was disappointing. I followed the instructions I was given by the staff at an earlier call. When I called back to provide the information they were unwilling assist and spoke to me in a tone one should not receive towards a new or existing client. read more

The doctor himself is the only reason I gave any stars at all. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience has been extremely disappointing. We had an appointment on September 24th. After completing the paperwork, the front desk staff told us they couldn't get our coverage approved and would contact our insurance company, then follow up with us on Monday. That never happened. I sent a text on October 2 -- no reply. I sent another on October 8, and only then did they inform me they had not received payment for last year's eye exam. We were never notified of this. I contacted our insurance company, and they attempted multiple times to reach Western Center Eye Care. Their calls were never returned. When I followed up again, WCEC blamed the insurance company for "calling before they opened." The truth is, Western Center Eye Care switched billing companies in 2023 or 2024, and they never submitted my claim and submitted my husband's incorrectly. When my insurance finally did reach someone (I was told the name was Dana), that person was given clear instructions on how to properly submit a paper claim for last year and was also informed that we do have coverage and exactly what is covered. We still never heard back from WCEC. I continued texting -- ignored. The only response I eventually got said someone would call me. I am still waiting for that call. Customer service has been terrible from start to finish. Posting this review is the only way I feel I can get their attention and warn current or future patients about the lack of communication and responsibility. We've visited this office multiple times and unfortunately have had consistently negative experiences. During our most recent visit, a scan/photo of my eyes was performed without my prior consent, and we were later charged for it at checkout. This is completely unacceptable, Patients should be informed of any additional procedures and costs beforehand and given the option to decline. To make matters worse, I was charged $100 for a contact lens fitting but was not provided trial lenses at the time since they needed to be ordered. I simply asked to pay my bill, receive my prescription, and have the trials ordered. Instead, they told me that if I wanted them to order the trials, I would have to surrender my prescription--and that trials are only provided if you purchase lenses directly through them. That makes no sense. If I paid for a fitting, I should receive the appropriate follow-up, including trial lenses, without being forced into purchasing from their office. Overall, this office lacks transparency and prioritizes profit over patient care. I would not recommend it. read more

I've never paid over $1000 for one pair of glasses. Took several months to finally get them after so many flaws. And still to not be happy. They did allow me to exchange that's what took months of waiting. Finally I had to just go else where and sure enough under $400 for a great pair of glasses. read more

Called to make a contact exam , had a eyeglass exam already told them my insurance was only going to cover a contact exam provided them all my insurance information so they could verify , took off work to come to appointment for them to tell me I had to pay additional fee of 100 and take another exam because I was a new patient to them. I specifically explained my situation for them to not honor what the said it's frustrating because I made it clear to them what I needed and what my insurance would cover only for them to change once I showed up. As with past reviews read here, my appointment was scheduled unbeknownst me. They apparently make their own lenses. Awful!!!! Made incorrectly. They give you your glasses in a GHETTO ugly plastic case, not the original from said company they buy from. Like Oakley, Calvin Klein... Very very strange!!! Takes days to get in to get appointments for readjustment. Not sure why. And if you call to come in at appointment time and all phones are busy, it sends you to some strange message box. I think this place needs new management!!!! DO NOT GO HERE to buy glasses. To gets routine only eye exam, take RX elsewhere. And yes, when my spouse and I were looking for glasses the lady was inattentive to my husband and I. She's apparently miserable there and it shows!!!! read more

Outstanding. I've been seeing Dr Tran since 2015. He not only is great with my eye exam, but he does my diabetic eye exam and glaucoma. He's very informative about all my issues and treatments. Easy check in , friendly eye doctor , clean equipment and office .... knowledgeable staff ... why three stars then ??? Because the past two years they make appointments for me with out my consent and knowledge ... I also left with out getting any glasses this time.. Scheduled my appointment, filled out online paperwork, & day of I get my appointment reminder through text message. There's no option on the text to confirm or cancel, just a reminder. So I call once I'm in the parking lot to checkin (bc Covid) and the front desk informs me they've given my appointment away because they were unsure I was going to show up or not...what!? So just cancelled my appointment... and conversation was over without them trying to fix their issue at all.. so good luck making an appointment and then allowing you to actually use your time slot. read more

My son and I both had our annual eye exams with this facility that is new to us. The optometrist assistant was certainly not enthusiastic to be working there and while not rude, she was not warm and friendly either. My son tends to have difficulty on some of the vision testing and thought she could have been more understanding/helpful. I let the doctor know of several concerns I had for my son. He was checked out and none of my concerns were addressed until I mentioned them again and it was almost a second thought to the doctor. Again, the overall feeling of just not really wanting to be more involved with the patient - a quick in and out. We then went to look at glasses for my son and after our insurance covered over $500, they still wanted over $600 out of pocket.....almost $1,200 for a pair of Ray Ban glasses!! Last year without insurance I paid $400 and they were the same designer brand with all the bells and whistles at a different location. Prices for glasses are outrageous! So I went here to get my prescription redone and get a new pair of glasses. I'm very aware that glasses are not a cheap thing but this place is a little outrageous. The sales lady was nice at first but we went through what my insurance would cover and she immediately kept me from asking about the options that I would be able to afford. After picking out a cute pair of frames that I was okay with paying for she started it off with showing me the different lenses and at first it was all good (under $200) then she switched and told me that the doctor wants me in these specific lenses and she totaled it up to almost $500?! I told her I might not be looking for those since I mainly wear my contacts anyways and she kept asking if that was "too expensive" for me or that I couldn't afford it. I have a terrible time choosing glasses and they are always patient and helpful. It also usually doesn't take long to get an appointment and the prices are reasonable. My son broke his glasses. Went in to get replacement but was told Dr discontinued loaners and his glasses will be back in a week. While there a member of their staff put his lens in another pair before finding out policy change. Didn't let me buy those replacement frames. I bought the insurance but still asked to pay full price to replace his glasses. It's now going on 2 weeks and no glasses. If I could give this place a zero score I would. I got my sons eyes examined at this office last year. After having issues in 1st grade with reading his teacher recommended getting an eye exam. Well, initially the glasses brought some assistance, and as the year went on my son was complaining of headaches and red eyes towards the end of the day. We relocated and so we were unable to come back to W.C.E.C for his annual exam. So, we went to our new doctor and sure enough the original eye prescription was completely off. My son is farsighted and has astigmatism. The prescription was not only wrong but was causing him to overwork his eyes. His grades slipped and so did his confidence. Feedback: Slow down and take your time!!!! You never know how the wrong prescription can ripple into other challenges with your patients. read more

If there was an option for zero stars, that's what I would give Western Center Eye Care. I have always ordered glasses and decided to get contacts for my teenage son. After arriving early for the appointment, I called to let the clerk know we arrived in the parking lot. After waiting 15 minutes in the car, I called back to see how much longer, due to having additional children with me. The clerk was like, go ahead and send him in. If I had not called after waiting 15 minutes, I am not sure how long we would have ended up waiting. I sent my teenage son in to try on his contacts that were ordered. After approximately 40 minutes passed, I called my son to see what was taking so long. He finally came out without his contacts and stated to me that the agent told him we had to make another appointment due to him not being able to put in the contacts. I went into the eye clinic and told the clerk that I will take the contacts and I will show him at home. The clerk refused to give me the contacts, I have already paid for the examination (almost $100). I was told that I could not get a refund because it was a service that was offered. This clinic basically stole the money I paid and kept my son's contacts. The clerk tried to lie and said I did not pay for the contacts. I did so when I paid for the examination along with the trial contacts. I would not recommend this place of business to anyone and I will be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau. I have never been told by an eye clinic that I could not have something that I paid for because the clinic could not show my son how to put in his contacts, I always had an option if I wanted assistance or just do it myself at home. Veronica, optical assistant broke my frame to replace the lenses. I am almost blind and hard of hearing. I have been left without glasses for more than 3 weeks. She promised to deliver it 2 weeks ago. I am isolation , without my glasses to see where I am going and hard of hearing. I am suffering , pain, agony and distress through this negligence of this business establishment. I had my neighbor as an emergency contact person, yet they denies access for her to call on my behalf. Cruelty and inconsideration for the old and vulnerable . I asked for refund a week ago. I would never recommend this place. Last year I over looked this but when they wrote a wrong prescription again that was it. I do not believe they know what they are doing. They cant even write a prescription properly. This has got to be the worst place ever. Idiots is all I can say. Do not waste your time going to this place. Even after going back up to this place and showing them that this was written wrong they printed the prescription with one doctor name and marked it out and hand written another doctor. Came here for my yearly exam and the clinic is now under new management. But Dr. Cheryl Lopez is just great! She is personable and made me feel at ease. She answered all of my questions, and you can really tell she really cares about her patients. She is very thorough with the exam. The place was nice and clean and the staff was very kind and helpful as well. I'm just over all happy with this place and do recommend it to anyone looking for an eye doctor they can feel comfortable with. read more

I am a patient there with your office or should I say was, yesterday I had my appointment for my annual contact exam and before I filled out the paperwork I asked the girl Connie how much was my visit going to be, because last year nobody told me how much I was going to owe until after the fact my exam was done and was slapped in the face with a high amount I had to pay out of pocket, which it was pretty unprofessional on your staff on that part when I specifically had told them when I made my appointment I just needed a renewal on my contact lens. So yesterday at my appointment I waited for my benefits to be verified and she tells me I will end up owing $85, when it should only be my copay I told her that was ridiculous good thing I asked before being seen. I've never had an issue before with paying more than my co-pay charges, in my past visits before this new Dr. took over Dr. Mark Welding not sure what has changed there besides all the office staff and high priced charges. Was very disappointed and also last year my insurance received to claims on 2 different dates with 2 different Dr's names. I only seen one Dr that day. Very disappointed with the service been going there for years and letting you know that I won't be going back there either will my husband and daughter. I work in the medical field and if a visit is going to be higher than a copay we always advise the patient over the phone before the appointment time or before being seen by the doctor, it is just good professional ethics. Originally I would of posted this office with 4 stars, but I no longer feel that way after further investigation on how they bill insurances. I found out they were not billing my insurance properly so my husband ended up paying full cost. After further investigation and calling my insurance to confirm what the actual cost should of been, I found out we were charged $65 too much. If they would of acknowledged they made a mistake, I wouldn't of been so upset, but instead they were trying to make up excuses. This led me to think otherwise about this office. Most people don't think to look further into cost of office visits, with hopes that what is being charged is accurate. If I had not looked further into this, we would of been out that money that never should of been charged in the first place. They did end up refunding us, no questions asked, which was the least they could do. I would NOT recommend this office after feeling scammed and we will not return. Make sure to look into the cost if you feel you were overcharged recently, because it didn't seem like they knew what they were doing. read more
