I am new to Carmichael and set an appointment more than a week ago for Wednesday 8am, the earliest I could be fit in. I had a crown that broke off, and this location was the closest. I hadn't read the reviews for Western Dental prior, now I am very aware of why they are rated so bad. I arrived at 8am and they wernt open yet. After knocking on the door they opened it and asked if I had an appointment. I said yes, we set it to examine the problem and try to get it fixed or replaced. They immediately told me they have to cancel my appointment. They had an assistant call out. I asked why I would be canceled since I was the first appointment of the day. They said it was because they decided to only see people that had a procedure scheduled. Not only didn't they offer to try to fit me in later if there was a cancelation, they evidently took offense when I asked, and said "you don't seem to have any compassion for what we are dealing with." It was like my presence and asking to be treated was an inconvenience to them. I Strongly recommend finding another company to work with. read more

UPDATE: While we were in the waiting room, a woman came in yelling at the staff for not answering phones. (Looking back on it, we never heard a phone ring once while there, which makes me think they've muted it entirely.) Fast-forward to today (a week and a half later) , we're relying on Western Dental to send a referral to our insurance provider so we can see an out-of-network provider who specializes in autistic patients, as their pediatric dentist couldn't accommodate my daughter. We had to leave while they were (probably pretending) to do the referral, because my daughter was panicking. I haven't received anything back from Western Dental or my insurance provider to confirm that the referral was sent, so I called Western Dental today. I spent half an hour on the phone and never spoke to a single person who could give me an answer. This office, like the woman in the waiting room said, DOES NOT answer their phones. So you get rerouted over and over again to their call center, which can't answer any questions--they only make appointments. So after getting rerouted like 10 times, they told me they couldn't do anything more for me. This office is out of my way, so I'll have to make a drive out just to get a simple question answered by the staff who refuse to answer phones. Please avoid Western Dental. Their reviews are low for good reason. ------ It's 45 minutes past our appointment time, and we're still sitting in the waiting room. This is irrational to expect out of any child, but my daughter is autistic, making this wait nearly impossible. The front office had nothing prepared--they had us wait while they called our insurance company to confirm our policy, which should've been done before our appointment. Once they confirmed the policy was active, they then gave us a stack of paperwork to fill out, which wasn't provided beforehand. They could have saved time by emailing the paperwork out weeks ahead or giving it to us to complete when they were calling our insurance, but they instead chose to extend our wait. We turned in the paperwork a while ago and are still waiting. If you have a child, especially one with higher needs, consider somewhere else. The wait alone will cause dental anxiety for any child. And if this is how the appointment begins, I'm worried to see how the rest will go. read more

DO NOT GO HERE. WOW. NEVER HAD WORSE TREATMENT. I showed up early today for a scheduled cleaning and general checkup. I asked if I would be able to get my exam records afterwards to share with a previous dentist who has been fixing the bonding on the same broken tooth for 20 years, an out of pocket expense that is not covered by insurance. An extremely abrasive clown at the desk immediately cancelled my appointment because he did not want me to get *my own medical records I am legally entitled to under HIPPA law*, so that I could get a specialty procedure done from a dentist who did it for me a few times before. DO NOT TRUST ANY "MEDICAL" OFFICE THAT OPERATES THIS WAY. If they were a reputable practice confident in their own ability to attract and keep patients through a reputation for great skill and patient care, they would not be afraid of patients asking for their own medical records for totally normal reasons. Would absolutely give this place a zero except another front desk person seemed nice and normal, and Yelp doesn't let us give zeros. ... I was just told by another medical practitioner that this office should probably be investigated for insurance fraud. If they are cancelling appointments like this, they may still be billing insurers for services that never took place. I 100% would not be surprised if there was something dodgy going on with their books. read more

Access dental and western dental are the same just so ya know. Years ago I had Medi-cal and their list of providers suck, but this one takes the cake! (I ended up suing them, so that's why I had to wait several years to write this review!) I had my wisdom teeth taken out by these quacks. 2 at the Carmichael location and I forgot the other location. They broke my jaw one time and royally effed up the nerves on a different wisdom tooth. I now have a constant reminder of how bad they are because of the permanent damage they inflicted! Infact, I now have major PTSD from these quacks and require sedation for even just a cleaning. If you want dental care done by dentists that barely passed dental school then by all means go there!But, if you want dentists that aren't barbaric and well trained check out getting an individual plan from delta dental. I pay around $100 a year, no deductible, no annual maximum and very low affordable co-pays. It's definitely worth the money! Plus, you will probably need another plan if u need more dental work than a cleaning and a filling or 2 because the annual maximum is only $2000 for Denti-cal. Did I mention how access/western dental over charge too? Don't believe me? Get a couple consultations elsewhere and you will see! So your Denti-cal really won't cover much with the overcharging. read more

I have a toothache. I want solution to my toothache. Not 32k (ok, 17k after insurance deduction but still! the list includes two implants- unhappy tooth and chipped another from biting crab leg, 3 crowns, 3 extraction, veneer etc). Do I need the rest? I need a second opinion. I don't even know the dentist name! He didn't intro himself. He said hi, look into my mouth going from teeth to teeth. I have great respect to any profession but a hello I'm so and so is a standard thing worldwide. I think if I were to get a total mouth implant for 17k or so, than that price would have made more sense. Then the dentist asked, "Any question?" The lady came in took over the computer, printed the quote. The lady at front desk who quoted me the price lead me out and ask if I would like to set another appointment in July. So, what do I do with this toothache? Wait till July? Nonetheless, I give thumbs up for scheduling me in for last minute appointment and the dentist assistant was gentle with the x-Ray. If there were a no stars option I'd use it. I advise to stay away from this location. Roseville is way better in customer service, compassion, CLEAR communication, and efficiency. This location is terrible. Jason and Omar could use some additional training on how to have a better bedside manner and better solution oriented skills. I would not trust them with my care. Went in for a tooth that hurt. Waited 2 effing months for just an appointment. Got the ball rolling at least I thought. Went in again thinking my hurt tooth would be taken care of. Nope! They were going to pull my cavities first. F that. I made them pull the tooth i originally Went in for FIRST. So after that 2 appointments just to get a cleaning and you can't even tell a cleaning has been done. At all. My teeth look the same. First cleaning I had done in a long time was unfortunately in prison but it definitely was the best cleaning I ever had. One appointment not 2 and my teeth came out really white. So their Dr's suck big time. Im definitely not satisfied with all that has taken place trying to get my mouth fixed. Low and behold that is probably why my mouth is not fixed. 2 months not being able to eat or drink properly with no pain pills or anything. Not to mention after 2 cleaning appointments my teeth are no cleaner than before I started trying to fix my grill. Totally mad about it and don't know where to star with doing something about it or who to go to for that type of thing. Definitely I will be looking for a new dentist to go to for sure that will actually do good work. I want me mouth fixed by someone that cares instead of someone just wanting a check. read more

I wish I would have read the reviews before scheduling my apt. I am sitting in the dental chair right now. An hour and a half after my scheduled time and still no dentist. I made the appointment 10 days ago called twice to confirm and make sure everything was okay with my insurance only to show up today to find they hadn't even bothered confirming with my insurance until I got here. That then took them an extra 45 minutes. They could care less about your time. The scheduler should legit be fired. UPDATE after waiting an hour and a half sitting in the dental chair who I believe is the manager came over and rescheduled my appointment. Unbelievable. I have been going to the dentist for 40 years and this was BY FAR the worst experience I have ever had. Also worth noting the office is disgusting. Dirty, run down and looked completely unsanitary. So when I first started coming here they were pretty good about having your schedule appointment ready got in like a 15 minute wait, but through out the years they have gone hill so bad. I had a apt one time like 4pm literally took forever to get in and out for a X-ray and a cleaning shouldn't take that long not only that I had to wait on my dentist because he was to busy helping other people before me so i sat in the chair for a a half hour before he finally came and check on me. So I made a appointment for 1:30 for today and so funny thing is the schedule me during their lunch time which is 1-2pm. I get there at like 1:45 I called them saying I was gonna be late and they said oh we try to give you a call and schedule you for 3:00 pm I never got a call the day before I checked my call log. So I waited for 45 minutes to run the insurance etc I got fed up and left because I wasn't gonna wait on them. Probably would have took longer to get seen as well. The dentist refused to pull my teeth for a denture even though I demanded it due to gum pain, going to be living in remote AK with no medical care nearby, not being able to eat 80% of the food I want, skin grafts on face and unable to floss. Mom shows up and they tell her that sorry, they don't take medi-cal insurance even though the lady on the phone asked for her member ID and confirmed everything on the phone. And the western dental website says they're the biggest medi-cal provider. I call back and the lady says they do take insurance and that she'll reschedule her for Tuesday at 8:00 am and that everything is confirmed. Later on in the day, I see that their hours are 9-5. The only thing I would change is Ukrainian accent guy who does X-ray. He seems kinda rude and demanding. Other than that Everyone else was great. Never have I had such awful treatment by an incompetent receptionist, and the dentist totally missed a cavity on the root and then tried to say it wasnt showing in xray when they did a few minths before. But i had gotten a copy of those xrays and it did show in 1 of the xrays of that tooth. It was 1 of 2 teeth I'd gine in to have looked at, due to sensitivity, and was told I had no cavities but needed some perio work eventually. All dentistwanted to do was pull it, without perio consultation. Finally, I believe they are dishonest. They billed fir a cleaning and a deep cleaning at same time. The insurance company refunded the duplucate and got them to refund their share too. DO NOT GO HERE! read more

My daughter is a disabled adult and went in to Western Dental as a new patient for a cleaning and check up. They did not clean her teeth, but upsold her for $1089. "gum therapy", not covered by insurance. I returned with my daughter to the office within 5 hours of her appointment to cancel this ridiculous treatment not sold or recommended by ANY dental practice outside of Western Dental. I've been ignored and strung along for two weeks only to be told by the office manager that they have no intention of refunding the $250. deposit my daughter gave and rescinding the contract. The only thing they did was take impressions! I have filed grievances and an investigation is ongoing, but this scam deserves another class action lawsuit!! read more
