I was curious about the key business so I watched Andy working on my keys on his mobile office (a van). I asked a lot of questions and learned a lot. He recommended schlage brand, praising its brass core and manufacturing accuracy. I guess like everything else, you pay for quality. Cheap is not necessary the best. My roommate and I were locked out of our apartment at midnight. My roommate and I both had our keys, but neither key was working in the lock (the keys would go in, but they wouldn't turn). Here at my company we needed a modification done to a door in the back of the building. It's a double-door that is glass with metal frames and that had a dead-bolt on it. The way the door originally was didn't meet fire code. So we needed to have the door completely redone to have a crash-bar on one side and flush locks on the other side. So I found Andy on Yelp and he came down and did an excellent job. He made it really easy and the cost was very reasonable. And in the end, the work he did was outstanding. I just purchased a house that came with a guest cottage, so I had 10 locks (all with different keys) that needed rekeying. Andy did a great job rekeying all the locks exactly like I had asked, and even moved a door knob from the interior (it was an exterior knob) to the exterior so that I could minimize number of keys. Also, he moved a strike plate so the deadbolt could be used again, and added a strike plate to a door with tight fit (some how made it flush with the frame). Believe the reviews. Five stars and then some. The door on one of our bedrooms got locked mysteriously (poltergeist? leprechaun? who knows?) and of course, the key had been lost to the sands of time. So I call Andy at Western Locksmith, 15 minutes later he's here, and I've just walked back to the kitchen and sat down to finish my tea, when he says "All done." This guy's like a Formula 1 pit stop mechanic. Boom, boom, done. Oh, and he's pleasant to boot. When I asked him about whether it would be better to make a key for the lock or just going to Home Depot and buying a new lock, Andy goes to his van, grabs a lock and gives it to me at a way better price than I would find at any store. Last Saturday, I was at a wedding with my wife and two young kids, and accidentally locked my keys in the car. Wow! Fast and efficient! I can't believe they came out late on a Saturday to help get my front door open. My daughter lost her last key to a 2012 Ninja 250R. Almost nobody wanted to get this key replaced and the dealer wants to just change all the locks. Awesome experience! My driver's side door lock on my Nissan Frontier was no longer unlocking, within 2 hours of contacting this company they were at my work (yes they came to me!) and my repair was done! I live in the Los Gatos mountains and needed to put a lock on a (circa '70's) sliding glass door. When I read the reviews on yelp for Western Locksmith, I thought I would probably have good luck if I could interest them in coming out to my house. I was quoted a very reasonable service call rate. When Andy came to the house to do the job, he came prepared with all possible lock assemblies that could work on the door. It was successful in one visit and the price was very good. I appreciate the manner in which Andy explained my options on how to approach the conversion and the detail of how the lock assembly was put together. Had lost the keys to my 2006 HONDA CBR 600 the previous night and it was a Saturday so not many locksmiths were available at a call especially for a motorcycle key since these bikes do not carry many references on how to recreate the lost key. I called several places and they either said they were too busy or could not do it and if they can, it wouldn't be a guarantee. Western locksmith was available the instant I called and i scheduled an appointment for 4pm he came right on time but he told me it can take anywhere from 1 hour to 6 hours and even at 6 hours he might not be able to Crack the key and would not charge me but time wasted so I agreed to take on the offer. He ran me a rate of $200 and AMAZINGLY CRACKED MY KEY AND LOCK IN ONLY 56 MINS! I was so relieved, he really does know what he's doing and provides great information about the lock. I was given two copies at the end and also a code to cut my keys in the future if I had ever lost them again so I wouldn't have to waste money on a lock smith. Our door nob got broken and called up Andy. Not only did he fix the door nob and without changing the original key, he also re-keyed my other doors that have never had key, and fixed the hinge of my door in order for the lock work better.
