Countless meals were acquired here as a kid growing up, and now we frequently stop to get a few things to bring back home to Idaho. If you're a fan of the Pork Chop or Wop Chop sandwiches, you can get the Patty here and make them st home! Not sanitary enough for me. Several guys butchering and at least 2 without masks. Then had to ask for a cashier. She was packing raw meat and came directly to the register without washing hands, checked me out and went directly back to packing meat. There is no way I'm going back here. read more

I bought a meat bundle consisting of different cuts of steak and hamburger. The hamburger was ok. The steaks were mostly fat. By the time I trimmed them the steaks were 1/3 of the original size. The Western Meat Block is a place from a bygone era. You can count on this place for a good steak, some of the best sausage you can buy, or even their excellent steak rub. I highly recommend the hot beer sausage. It is spicy but not overpowering. Being a Butte Rat and quite the traveler, time and time again, I look to butcher shops searching for that all time to die for cuts. So far, Western Meat Block blows all of their fellow meat shops out of the water. I love being able to walk in a place and feel like a part of the family. Their customer service is fabulous. Western sells the usual meats--beef, chicken, and pork--but one can also get fresh cheese, fish, sausage, jerky, hamburger, and bread. Always impressed with the products they have on hand as well as the wild meat processing. They did my Deer last fall and it is the BEST venison we have had in a dozen years. Steaks are amazing and we love the brats, sauerkraut, sauces. The marinated steaks with horsey sauce are outstanding. I will send all my friends and guest to the Meat Block. read more

We've made special trips to Butte just to go here. Bring your cooler and load up on great meats. They have a ton of different cuts and homemade sausages that are the bomb. Be sure to get the marinade, it's a brown liquid in one of the fridges, and it makes ANY meat taste so good...Its addictive! The guys are great, and it's a fun little store. Just bought 6 ribeye steaks from WMB yesterday, and when we got home (60 miles away)noticed they were boneless. Butcher counter employees should ask before they assume. We have been buying rib eyes here for several years and this is the 1st time it's happened. Not happy. read more

This place is the best....I'm a Montana expatriate (living in Boise, ID). I like to stop and pick up some Pork Chop John's Porkies. Idahoans don't seem to know pork chop sandwich or pasties. The staff here is friendly, courteous and truly Butte. I love it and recommend it to anyone. read more
