I've been a patient of Dr Richards since 1997 when the practice consisted of him as the new guy and Dr Slaymam (now retired). The practice has grown considerably since 1997 and now includes 6 or 8 doctors and several nurse practitioners. They recently relocated to new facilities in the Altair Medical Building (off Africa Rd just beyond the COPC Headquarters and the COPC Medical Building. I have the utmost faith and trust with these doctors and credit Dr Richard will saving my life when he detected colon cancer over 20 years ago when it was still highly treatable. He's not one to order tests unless there's a really good reason and is not one to overly medicate a condition. I've seen a number of the doctors and nurse practitioners in this practice when Dr Richard hasn't been available and all provided excellent care. I would highly recommend Westerville Family Physicians. read more

Dr Terry Slayman was the best Doctor that I ever known, since he left the practice at Westerville that place became a mess. He was a wonderful person and he was the one who's discovered that I have thyroid issue. He was my Doctor for 18 years. Thanks Doc. When he left no one told me he was not there until I got mad and said that I will not coming back if he can not be my Physician anymore. Five stars when he was practicing there. read more

I was a patient of Dr. Thomas Hurm for 10+ years. I feel that I haven never been heard. I recently left his office for another practice that has addressed my health concerns and not just flippantly diagnosed as if I were a flake. Dr. Hurm is not thorough nor does he seem to care about his patient's concerns. read more

Thought the world of this place. Until the staff started naming calling and getting rude. After years of going there I left to find a new doctor. Don't get me wrong doctors are mostly great but the staff is horrible they won't bill the right health insurance then refuse to see you due to high bills you are fighting. You immediately get transferred to a voicemail line to leave a message and this is my second time I have not been called back at all. Makes me feel like they don't even care. Even though I'm giving Westerville Family Physicians four stars, I give my doctor, Jennifer Briones, five stars! Dr. Briones has been my PCP for the past three years, and I love her! She is youthful and smart, and she really cares about her patients. She doesn't always use a prescription to solve my problems, but she does believe in medicine when it's necessary; I really like this "middle-of-the-road" approach to health care. Dr. Briones always takes the time to really listen to me, and I never feel rushed! Westerville Family Physicians is really "with it" when it comes to technology. They use online scheduling, and they always order my prescriptions electronically. The only reason I'm not giving WFP five stars is because sometimes the support staff isn't super friendly. read more

I know... I know... As a middle-aged guy, I'm supposed to be "macho" and not care about my health. I've been going to Jessica for a couple of years now and I look forward to Annual Checkups!! As I write this review, I'm smiling! Jessica Manly actually listens! She is the most caring and compassionate medical PROFESSIONAL that I've ever met. She has always addressed my concerns AND I leave the office still feeling macho! Jessica is responsive and she seems to really enjoy what she does. I've referred my wife and daughter. My experience with COPC especially Dr. Wilson, Julie his physician assistant and the receptionists have been excellent. Samantha's patience with me and the patient portal has been outstanding. Dr Wilson has years of teaching residents and is an excellent diagnostition. If you have a question just ask. Sometimes if you have to wait it is because a patient may require extra time. COPC has expanded services to include xray's, physical therapy and after hours Nurses you can call with concerns. read more

Dr. Slayman was one of the best doctors I've ever known in my many years and I have the utmost respect for him and was dismayed to learn he had retired. But I think that Dr. Kitchen is right up there with Dr. Slayman in being a good doctor as well as a quality person. I have been seeing Dr Slayman for about 20 years. Even when I moved to the other side of town, I drove there and to St Ann's so I could have him as my PCP. He KNOWS me. He understands me. He does not waste my time, if I need a refill or a prescriptiion called in I call his nurse and they take care of it. He listens, he cares and he is very good at what he does. For those of you who need babying or lullying, this is not the man for you. His personality is such that he is laid back and of the mind," if it hurts when you do that, then don't do that." This is what I love about him. As I read one of the other reviews here, I just have to ask, if YOU have a problem with EVERY SINGLE person in an office then don't you think the problem could maybe be YOU? I wish I could give a negative star. My husband and I have been going to Dr. Brionnes for 8 years. I use to sign her praises. However in the last two years the customer service of this entire office has has gone down. Most recently my husband and are trying to get for our health screening required for our insurance. Dr. Brionnes is never available so we set an appointment with Regina the PA. She has apparently stopped coming to work and our appointment has been rescheduled twice. It's been a huge inconvenience and we have yet to get to see anyone. read more

!!! RUN FAST TO ANOTHER PRACTICE !!! I have no choice but to give one star because it will not allow me to chose ZERO! For my first appointment I was given the wrong address by one of the staff members and ended up having my appointment cancelled. I was told I wrote it down wrong, NO I wrote down the address they gave me which was to their old office. 2 weeks later I see the nurse practitioner and had to schedule for another week as she was not able to help with the issues I was coming in for. I fill out all the paperwork to have my records sent and reschedule for 2 weeks down the road. I get a call letting me know the nurse practitioner is out of the office indefinitely as she is suffering from numerous family issues and the receptionist starts to provide me details about such (WHY ARE THEY TELLING ME PERSONAL BUSINESS OF ONE OF THEIR STAFF!!!). I asked if they received my medical records and they had not. I get rescheduled for 2 more weeks down the road and receive a call the day before my appointment to confirm and I ask if they have my records yet - they knew nothing about it - they never faxed the multiple requests - I had to go pick up my own medical records myself! When I questioned it I was snapped at by the receptionist desk and told that I am not their only patient. THEY HAD 4 WEEKS TO FAX THE REQUESTS!!! I come in for my next appointment with all of my medical records in hand and was pleasantly surprised that the Dr. took his time to go over my medical history and concerns. He requested I have an EMG and said they would schedule it right away and would be back in touch within a day or two. A week later I call the office to get the schedule date for my procedure. NO ONE SCHEDULED IT!!! I had to call the specialist myself who in turn had to call Westerville Family Physicians (W.F.P.) and they were rude to them as well!! 3 more weeks and I get my EMG and was told W.F.P. would be receiving the results later that day. My appointment was on Monday, I had to call W.F.P. on Thursday for my results and didn't get a return call until Friday at which time I spoke with Dr. Richards assistant KATIE and she was the most rude, unprofessional, and uncaring individual I have ever talked to in the medical profession. All of the info she was telling me was wrong! I relayed conversation to her from my visit with the Dr and she barked at me to just be patient as I only have 15 or so pages for her to have to read through and said it in the most disgusted and put-out tone I have ever heard from someone in the medical field. I asked about my thyroid that the Dr. was concerned about and she said there were no notes on that and I can't diagnose myself and expect a Dr. to follow up on it! I had in my records I provided with MRI results showing a growth that the Dr. and I discussed in depth! She implied I am looking for pain pill handouts which is funny seeing as I have requested a pill free pain management for my nerve disease! I hung up the phone in tears and called back to speak with the office manager and was told the Dr would call me the following week upon his return and that such behavior is not tolerated. It has now been 3 weeks and no phone call, messages have not been returned, and I am still waiting to hear about other testing that was supposed to be scheduled and I will now be taking that to a new physician. I finally spoke with someone today requesting my full medical records be ready for pickup by end of day. I got to talk to Katie again and still the same disconcerting attitude! I stress to anyone looking to use Westerville Family Practice to look elsewhere! They office staff is rude, unhelpful, and disclose private confidential information to patients about other staff members. Your calls will not be returned and you will not be taken seriously as a patient. Your tests and labs will not be scheduled appropriately and you will have to track them down repeatedly to get your results! I am filing a grievance with my insurance company! read more

I have been a patient for 20 years! Last week I had to have an MRI on my arm.In the past when I had questions or need info on when I would find out about my results you could call there office and someone would get back to you in a timely manor.That seems to no longer to be the case.When you call you get the doctors nurse voicemail.They do not call back that day or the day after. This has an impact not only on my personal life but my professional life as well. I began using Westerville Family Physicians about 15 years ago. I began by seeing Dr. Slayman but due to circumstances ended up seeing Dr. Briones during one visit. To say that I am pleased with her care is an understatement! She listens patiently to my concerns, she answers all my questions, and she acts like a partner in my health. I highly recommend her! Courtney and the front staff are always friendly and fast, and I never have to wait for more than five minutes, either in the waiting room out front or in the exam room. If you're looking for someone to be responsive and to engage with you in managing your health, I highly recommend Dr. Briones and the staff at Westerville Family Physicians, now Central Ohio Primary Care. read more

I've seen almost all the doctors in this practice and they are all very nice and helpful. The only issue I have ever had with the practice is that it can take weeks to get your test results back! I have waited over two weeks for an ultrasound and am still waiting at three weeks for cat scan results. I leave messages asking and they go un-returned. It might not seem like a big deal to some but if you are waiting on these results for your next move in treatment, it can make a very large difference. I do like that they have the online patient portal and that I can almost always get a same-day appointment when I need it. They are also pretty good about staying on schedule. I can't recall ever having a long wait time. read more

As a patient of Dr. Briones, I can say that she seems so personable. If she gets down to earth with my health issues, I would rather.----- I have had positive appointments every visit and she monitors my chart and seems to really care about elderly women. She understands the issues and has always had time to listen to my concerns. She is booked up for all of June so there are many patients very happy with this doctor. Been a patient for 10 years, sent us into a collection agency for a $30 bill we didn't even realized we owed. Now we are dealing with it on our credit report and being harassed by a collection agency. Most visits consist of 2 minutes of face time with a Doctor, they get you out very quick. This office shouldn't even get a star.I feel like they CARE about themselves rather than the patient. This company needs training on how they treat the patient.The office manager was RUDE and instead of calming the problem down she made it worse by telling me not to speak! Instead of saying how may I help you? If the company makes a mistake they need to own it and not blame the patient. I was always taught a client is always right ! I have never had a problem with Dr. Briones however the doctors should know what the front of the office is doing because in the end it will ruin your business . I am in shock by the LACK of customer service. I will file a grievance with my insurance company as well as ohio medical board. This was my third visit and my last! In my opinion I wouldn't go to this office.I wasn't seen by a doctor or nurse during this visit. My issue was with the front office and they set the tone for the entire office. I didn't feel comfortable. When I left the office today I knew I wouldn't ever come back. UPDATE: TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE.I received a letter yesterday 7/1/14 that stated they are dropping me from the office due to my RUDE behavior to the staff. This practice has some wonderful doctors. They are too busy though. The practice has grown too fast, they don't spend enough time with patients and don't pay enough attention to important details of your health. had severe asthma and they treatment plan the gave me made it worse. They completely missed the root cause of my asthma. They also prescribed a medication that has dangerous and even deadly potential side effects and advise me of the risk or tell me to look for symptoms. I had a reaction and didn't realized the cause for a couple of months. The result could have been deadly. I also find it odd when a medical practices has staff who live unhealthy lifestyles (many are overweight, smokers, etc). Unfortunately, I can not recommend this practice. read more

I have a very bad experience here. I don't know if it happens with everyone, but I'm highly disappointed by their service. This could probably be becoz I visited a nurse instead of a doctor at this facility. Firstly the diagnosis and the prescription seemed incomplete to me. Secondly none of my voicemails were retuned till date by the nurse Ambrose or her assistant Jordan, even those I left seeking medical advice when I was having the issue. The receptionist too didn't help me get to one of them. I will not go there again. Pathetic service and unconcerned. read more

This used to be a great place to go, however since they have fell under Central Ohio Primary Care Physicians (COPC), it's my opinion you should look elsewhere. I was called to schedule an appointment in order to re-fill my cholesterol medication; they ended up making me see one of the doctors instead of just getting my blood drawn. I was asked if I had any issues and I told them my back was hurting that day, as it always does. They sent me for X-rays, which is no longer done in the same building. Fast forward to billing, I received bills from the x-ray office, the doctor's office for the x-rays, bill for the office visit, bill for the diagnosis. The office visit was billed as a level 4 but I did not have 25-30 minutes of face time with the Doctor, required by CPT standards. They get you in the door to bill you for everything they can think of. COPC Website uses the word "ethics" in their mission statement, yet I don't feel their billing is very ethical. Check your billing codes with the CPT website, just Google CPT Codes and see if you are being billed correctly. The one star I do give is for Dr. Richards and Dr. Briones, but since under COPC, they herd you through like cattle for billing purposes. I guess the days of Doctor's taking ownership of their patients is over. read more

I was seeing Dr. Richards for several years, as long as I paying my co-pay and not asking to many question he was good. However, the older I get the more questions I started to ask....he began to be very sarcastic and and condescending. My LAST visit I heard him say in his hallway, to a student, "Oh gosh, THAT guy" I don't think he even listened to my symptoms before being flippant and curt with me. As it turns out after getting a new Dr. , the pain in my chest and shortness of breath turn out to be calcium growth near my sternum area that see scheduled to be removed. This office is horrible. They have no concern for the patients AT ALL! You can NEVER get in to see the doctors. When you finally get in they don't want to listen. I say they b/c the doctors just trade you off. They basically roll dice on who sees who. They always schedule appointments then call the day of to cancel b/c the doctor had an "emergency" or something. I've dealt with them b/c Dr. Briones was a family doctor. The last straw was when I got my random drug screen (which I have no problem with). I saw a doctor I've never even met before, got a letter with NO DETAIL saying that they could no longer write my prescriptions after 5 YEARS due to INCONSISTENT RESULTS. I called to ask them what this even meant they refused to answer and said "I will be OK b/c there are no withdraw effects from Adderall". I asked to get a copy of the results and OF COURSE the RUDE Nurse said "that it might take a while, but I could try to contact the company myself". This is the worst doctors office I've EVER been too. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. read more

Let me start by saying that I have been going to Terry Slayman for 15 years. He was awesome!!! He retired but the office didn't even send out his good bye letter. Linda Ambrose who is also no longer with Westerville Family Physicians was better then any of the other MD's that I've been to in the practice. I never minded before going to the office and seeing one of the other MD's because Slayman always fixed things. Please note that I have never once see Neil Richard. Now when I call I get the message "Your call can't be completed as dialed...." at lest 5 times before I can get through. I don't want to go into all the details of my last three visits but they were all with different people two MD's and NP which I requested an MD for the appointment and they left out that she was a NP when they scheduled me. They have all been worse then the last. I will be finding a new office and never dealing with these people again. It's not worth my health, time or money. read more

WESTERVILLE FAMILY PHYSICIANS If you want to pay for services not rendered This is the place for you, and Dr. Jeannine Hughes is not very unprofessional. When she comes to my exam room she has her little I-pad and she's checking off what???? The things she plans to charge me for ?She does not listen! She sits there tapping on her I-pad and ignoring what I am telling her. When I have an issue, I need my doctor to at least look at me and act as if she is hearing me.I used to be able to have my scripts refilled for 6 months to a year. Then I landed on hard times temporarily and my bill did not get paid promptly. My bill was roughly $180.00. They put the bill in " their collection department" and she quit refilling my scripts. I would have to call, they would berate me over the remainder of my bill before refilling my scripts. She would not give me any refills. When you have something like a thyroid medication or an anti-depressant your doctor usually will give you a year of refills on it. She had NO REFILLS on all my scripts. When my pharmacy sends a request to refill my meds she ignores it until I call the office. I feel like I have to beg for my meds.(I make a payment to them once a month, on the same day of the month). Back in June my RA doctor decided to check my thyroid levels. They were way out of whack. She lowered my script and sent the test results to Dr. Hughes. The last time I had an appointment there (September 25, 2015) for a pre-op physical I saw the PA. while I was in the room and they were running tests, Dr. Hughes sent a person in to tell me that she want me to reduce my level of thyroid meds by 25mcg. My R.A. doctor had already lowered it by 50 mcg. I asked her "MESSANGER" if she was wanting to run it back up by that 25mcg. Her message when she came back was, "Dr. Hughes hadn't read the information from the RA doctor until now. She wants it left where it is now! (Now that she has read the other doctor's report, (FROM JUNE). ONE WEEK LATER SHE HAD SOMEONE CALL ME AT HOME AND TELL ME THAT SHE WANTED TO LOWER MY THYROID MEDS AGAIN. SHE HAD NO REASON TO LOWER THEM AS SHE HAD NOT TESTED MY LEVELS FOR OVER A YEAR. I have finally found a new doctor who is at the Polaris Surgery Center! Wish me luck because I don't want to have to give another bad review but I will if it is necessary! read more
