Why does this bar have mixed reviews? The view is unbeatable and clearly surpasses the views from NYC rooftops. The staff is really friendly too! The drink menu has plenty of cocktail options and the drinks are stiff. We also liked all the small plates we've tried there. There's also a large indoor portion with large windows allowing the same view if you don't want to be out in the heat. Make a reservation online if you want a table and don't want to wait in line to go up. The Turf Club pop up is open through summer until September upstairs and is walk in only. Despite some of the other reviews, I found this place to be amazing. My boyfriend reserved seats for my birthday two weeks in advance for a group of 7. We didn't have to wait in line as a result. We got seated right by the amazing view. The drinks were strong but tasty and the small shared plates were delicious. I even got a free drink to celebrate. This place has one of the most beautiful views of the Manhattan skyline. The space is quite big with ceiling-high windows, which allows you to have a nice, expansive view of NYC. During the weekends, there's a DJ that plays chill, groovy music. There is a laid-back ambiance, that also feels trendy and upscale. Since there's only one bar inside the lounge, it can take a while to get an order. Just be patient, because the cocktails are pretty good. We ended up ordering the Simpatico and Gold Rush. Simpatico: refreshing, slightly sweet drink composed of strawberry, lime, and sparkling rose. It's a great summer drink, or if you want something light and sweet. Gold Rush: bourbon, honey and lemon that isn't too sweet and has a slight citrus-y, refreshing kick. If you want something slightly similar to an Old Fashioned, then this is a good choice. If you're hungry, try grabbing a table inside or outside. They have a nice menu of small bites. We ended up ordering Beetroot Hummus. Beetroot Hummus: hummus that has some beets and served with toasted pita. The hummus is very flavorful. It's big enough to share between 3-4 people. Overall, this place is great to take a date or have a small group to catch up and chill. I'd recommend grabbing a meal prior to coming here, since the serving sizes are small. Seconding previous reviews that this establishment discriminates on the basis of race, specifically against Asians. The hostesses refused to seat us even though we had a reservation. Honestly the view was amazing but upon arrival, the first thing that was said to me was essentially "you have 90 minutes to eat". I was taken aback, but was aware of that before coming. However, I never got my entrees after waiting for an hour. If you're going to greet me with saying I have an hour and a half to eat and enjoy myself, your kitchen needs to be top notch. I don't understand how you can tell someone that and not have your kitchen in order. I witnessed other tables getting their food before us. The manager or whoever was in charge of the roof didn't approach us until we decided to cancel the entrees and pay for the two drinks and two appetizers that did make it to our table. Swank and trendy rooftop bar on the 22nd story of the new William Vale Hotel--this is basically the Le Bain of Williamsburg. The 360 view is the best of Manhattan and Brooklyn that I've had from a rooftop in Williamsburg (beats the Ides). Hip and classy decor and scene with cocktails, wine, beer, and small bites being served. Cocktails are a bit pricey for the area at around $15, but reasonable (on occasion) given the scene and view. Note that there is a line in the lobby to get up.. apparently starting at 3:30pm on the Saturday that I visited. I came around 8:40pm and spent 20 or no minutes in line, but it was worth it for checking out the rooftop. read more

We came here with friends on a Saturday around 6pm and were ecstatic to see the line wasn't long at all. When we got upstairs there were definitely a lot more people but not crowded. The line for the bar looked really long though and it took awhile for us to get our drinks. But aside from that we had no problem finding seats. There is usually a line at the door but I've never waited more than 10 minutes, it moves quickly. The rooftop is relaxed and really spacious inside and outside which makes for an easy and chill experience. It may be a little hard to find a seat but standing is not horrible since it doesn't get overpacked. The music is at an easy volume so you're able to hear yourself speak and have conversations. The view is beautiful from every corner especially during the day so I bring friends/family that are visiting from out of town. The drinks menu is typical nothing out of the ordinary with limited choices of beer. I've only eaten here once. We had the duck tacos and chicken empanadas with french fries. Everything was below average with the portions being extremely small and the prices extremely high. I wasn't surprised at the prices and portions, that was to be expected, but the quality of food was ehhhhh. You can do better Westlight. Overall I do enjoy my time here, it's sort of a safe bet. I went to Westlight NYC for the first time on Mother's day (2 days ago) and it was my son's choice for me. I was very happy with his pick and felt like it was going to be a wonderful experience because I love the rooftop vibe. When we walked up to the hostess station, one of the 2 ladies there looked up our reservation, did not greet us and walked us to a table on the inside. My son advised her that his reservation was for outside seating. She look visibly upset, and instead of apologizing or saying "sure, no problem", she looked at him and sternly said, "once you are seated outside you can't come back inside", and she proceeded to seat us outside. It was Mother's day, and I was trying my damndest to not say anything to her. After our server came to introduce himself to us, I was still upset, and decided to go talk to the hostess. I could not allow her to get away with her rude, unprofessional behavior. I told her I did not appreciate the way she talked to us, and our money is no different from any other. I also told her I saw her attitude in her face, I heard it in her voice and it was not nice. She acted shocked...ok then. We ordered some small bites which were very good. We also ordered large bites, and mine was the "Harissa-Spiced Ora King Salmon" meal which looked good. I was wearing my sunglasses and tasted the salmon which was really good, but because I couldn't see my food clearly, I switched to my glasses, and saw what disgusted me..some jet black hair curled up in my food. We asked another waiter nearby to call our waiter for us, he did, but our waiter did not come right away. We waited for nearly 7 mins then my daughter decided to go find him to tell him why we needed him. Again, he took a while before he came to us. When I showed him my plate with the disgusting hairs, he kept staring at it with his sunglasses on, then proceeded to say "hmmm that's odd". Really mister? Instead of apologizing this is what he says? Then he said "I'm going to take it to my manager". I didn't even respond because I was super annoyed at that time. My daughter told me he was staring at my hair...how rude! If it was my hair, which is brown, the would not have been curled up in the food like it was. It would have most likely been resting on the food. He finally came back apologizing profusely and gave us 3 glasses of champagne supposingly to make up. I don't drink champagne , neither does my son. If they really cared they would have asked me what I wanted to drink because I already had a cosmo which I liked. He asked me if I wanted to order anything else, I ordered the Peruvian smoked chicken. It was good. Our bill was over $200.00, nothing removed for the disgusting hair in my food. I went to the lady's room before we left, and it was utterly disgusting! I know it was a busy day for WestLight, but they should have cared enough to have someone cleaning after the ladies in the toilets. I really wanted to take pictures of the hair in my food & the state of the lady's room, but I decided to spare them. I regret not doing so. Westlight would have been my choice for my birthday dinner with friends next month, but that's a NO. The place has an amazing view, I like the ambience, but I won't return. We went here for the first time the other day and it was pretty wonderful. The people were nice and the food was pretty great as well. Of course the view is the major draw. 2 Minor things. 1. Try to go in the late eve, as it seems that most people tend to go on the earlier side. 2. When you pay your bill, the server bring a tablet and you can hand over a credits card, etc. However if you like to check the bill like I do, just ask them to see the total and a copy of the bill. Rooftop bars are a must do when visiting NYC but what's better is visiting one with a view of Manhattan. Westlight does just that and it serves the most incredible cocktails. We ordered the aviation and it might have been made with aviation fluid cos we were honestly drunk on the fumes. SO strong. Deciding it was not an option to continue drinking those all night, we ordered a bottle of Prosecco and enjoyed a lovely night watching the sunset and chilling in Brooklyn. I'd absolutely recommend this as a must do for out of towners. It's pricy but you pay for the experience and that gorgeous view. Dropping a star as it's bar service only when you are outside which is a bit rubbish when the cocktails are $$$'s! It wouldn't put me off returning though. read more

I arrived at the location at around 12:40am with my boyfriend. We had to wait in line for like 20 minutes to be able to go up to the rooftop, but the staff was nice and let us inside the hotel lobby since it was raining outside. It was my last day in NYC and I'm so glad I insisted on going there. When we got out of the elevator, we could already see the amazing view. This is hands down the best view of the New York skyline; no matter where you stand in the lounge, you could see the most amazing panorama of the city. I tried to take some pictures up there, but they just couldn't compare to what my eyes were seeing. Since there was a line to get in, I thought we would end up in a terribly crowded and unpleasant place, but I was so wrong. The house was full, but the environment was very comfortable. We were seated in a small table. Unfortunately the kitchen was closed at that time, so we couldn't try any of the food. My boyfriend ordered a beer and I asked for a cocktail. The waiter brought the beer but informed me my drink would take a little long to be ready. I said it was no problem, but still he was kind enough to give me a glass of champagne as an apology for the delay. When I return to New York I'll make sure to come again to this amazing place. Tried to come here once and eventually gave up on the line. So the next time I made a reservation and when we were seated, it wasn't on the better side. The side that faces the North doesn't have great views of either Manhattan nor DT Brooklyn. Just the midget expanses of Queens. When we walked around afterward, the western and southern views were incredible. So make sure to aim for that if you're being seated. As for the drinks, $18 is pretty steep IMHO. Maybe that's just normal for NYC but I still find it hard to swallow (ha). Just kidding the cocktails were fine, though not sublime. I kept seeing this place on all of my friends' Instagram Stories, so I decided to check it out. I placed a reservation for my friend and I in the summer for an afternoon. The views here are as they say, absolutely amazing. It was a clear day and it was a beautiful day to sit on the rooftop with drinks and some good food. The drinks we ordered were delicious and the food was delicious. We ordered the tempura bass baos and a side of herb fries with aioli. For drinks, my friend got the hurricane and I got the Pimm's cup. I would definitely recommend this place if you're in Brooklyn and in need of some good views and great place to hang out. read more

I order for all friends, which was a group of 5 and after I ordered I asked do you think this is enough for all of us? And he responded yes, and if not you can add in empanadas. It was very windy that night and I didn't hear him too clearly so then I said oh ok then later. When the food came, we set the food a side since my friends were busy taking pictures. Then after I sat down for and eat I was confused when I saw the empanadas, and when the check came I told him I did not order it since you "IF NOT YOU CAN ADD" and his response was NO I DID NOT SAY THAT and forced us to pay. The empanadas was four very small empanadas for 22 dollar, which I would never order since I don't normally like empanadas anyways. The server was RUDE and not nice, VERY POOR service!!!! I have mixed feelings. The view is great and the decor is very well done and those are the two best things about this place. On a Saturday night it was busy, packed and loud. The service was slow. We got drinks and then no one came by for nearly 40 minutes to take our food order. The booths were nice but the really low wide seats across from them made things awkward. It was hard for people to get in and out of our seat without disturbing those around us at our table. The bar "bites" were just that. A single bite and it's gone. I feel like they also used the same garnish on everything. Let's top it all with green and red stuff and make it look like Christmas. Even the ribs. Really.... not necessary on ribs c'mon now. I'd look past it if it contributed some sort of flavor but nope. The ribs weren't tender either. The fries are super thin but crispy and of the herbs I tasted the rosemary the most. Don't come here hungry, you will leave unsatisfied. We ordered a ton of apps and I wasn't starving after but I could still eat if I wanted to. The "grilled" octopus skewers were not charred so they probably have a flat top grill here. No char flavor whatsoever. Mildly spicy because of the sauce but not the right texture. Still edible I guess. Only 3 short ones come with the order. The shrimp cocktail dumplings were good. The slices of lemon served with them were minuscule as if there were a shortage on lemons or they were expensive or something. The eggplant dumplings I could live without. I feel like those should have been pan fried rather than steamed to be honest. The inside was soft and mushy like mashed potatoes and so was the outside. Some of them didn't hold up and just started falling apart when stabbed with my fork. I feel that pan frying them would have given the dish more depth. The shrimp dumplings were firmer inside. The mini-empanadas were very dry. The dough was dry and the filling was dry too. The creamy sauce that accompanied them had a touch of cilantro and helped a bit but the filling could hav used just a bit more seasoning. The bartender got really lazy with the drinks. They were not dressed or garnished at all. Sure it was busy but if I am paying $17 for a cocktail in a small glass that it's probably no more than 8 oz in size AND it's not filled to the brim I want it to at least look special. Too much to ask for? I got the spring fling and it was moderately strong and very citrusy bordering on just plain sour. The St. Germain was overshadowed by the other ingredients. With the interesting ingredients listed I was hoping for something more complex for my palate but It just tasted like a cup of lemon juice. It could be because we were a larger table but something was definitely lost in translation. When you go to a restaurant and the best food served was the fries I'd imagine there's an issue. Hmm. I'm not so sure about this place. The view alone is 5 stars and the drinks are great, but the bad service and the price just don't do it for me. I arrived for a 10pm reservation and ordered promptly when we were seated. They only brought out one food item after 15 minutes and the servers aren't around as much to flag them down. After about 30 minutes I asked the waitress to check on our drinks. From there she then had our drinks made. I cancelled another food item because it clearly was not coming. The huge issue I had with this was that it seemed that only my boyfriend and I received bad service. Both couples next to us got their drinks and food quickly. My friends who didn't have a reservation and ended up ordering from the bar were able to get two rounds by the time we finished. They didn't even have a reservation. Very unimpressed. Made a reservation and added a note that it was our anniversary and if we could get a nice table, it would be so appreciated. We were put in the back next to the stairs/kitchen with maybe the worst view. There were 2 person tables open, so that was a bummer. The steak was okay. We ordered another round of drinks and we were waiting 30 minutes for them. I know it's New York and I'm all about spending money but the food and service just weren't great for the price. Our server we saw maybe twice he said he had to jump behind the bar because there was an issues which is fine just odd. We went to walk around and see the view which is the main attraction there and we basically kept getting yelled at, you can't walk around with drinks on the top floor? Also was a week day they were closing and we went to take a picture by the stairs on the top floor and they said we can't "block" the stairway....mind you there's was literally no one around.
