Called them 3 weeks ago pertaining to a specialist referral for a stye removal and have yet to hear from them until I just called again today. I was told that the person I spoke to weeks ago never spoke or wrote a note to my doctor for a call back. And the lady I spoke to today just hung up on me after I gave thanks for the information. The wait in this office is ridiculous. I had a 3pm appointment and was not seen until about 4pm. A whole bunch of folks were seen before me that came AFTER me. What was the point of an appointment if I was only going to be seen an hour later. The Optometrist Himandri was rude. She was in such a rush and did not take her time on me. She was flipping through the exam and expecting quick answers from me when I could barely even see shit that she's doing/showing. She sounded frustrated anytime I asked her to repeat/redo something. If you weren't rushing through shit, I wouldn't have asked to repeat/redo things. I used to see Sarah or Chad, I don't know even know why I was set up with her this time. Sarah and Chad were very nice and I never had any issues with them. I feel like my glasses prescriptions are incorrect because how is it still the same from last year but my contacts prescriptions are different?? Make it make sense. However, the woman that checked my eyes out for my contacts prescriptions was very nice and did not rush through things. I think her name was Carolina. Carolina and the nice woman that helped me at the end of my appointment are the reasons why I give the 3 stars. Oh and the nice woman that checked me in! My appointment was at 8am and my daughters appointment was at 815 we didn't get called in the room till 843 the doctor came in at 924 she only examined me and said she will be right back, I noticed she was taking a bit long I asked an assistant where is the doctor she stated she is seeing another pateint. How you go see another patient when you did not see the one you have first' they was booked together. they doctor was rude not polite at all' my daughter did not get seen and I'll never come back to this unprofessional place at all. read more

This place is very disappointing, it is loud full of people they keep the door open so there is no privacy during the tests... They do not call to confirm appointments so if you do not remember you basically lose the appointment and the money.. during this crisis of Co-Vid19 the only resource they provide is the phone number and nobody picks up... they have a voicemail saying you need to contact by text or e-mail but do not specify which one or where to find it... Overall I can't find anyone to provide me a copy of my eye exam to get my prescription!!!! Very bad experience I cannot wait to receive my prescription and do not come back here. read more

The doctor who "diagnosed" my eye infection seemed like it was her first day on the job. She was touching my eye without gloves on which in my opinion is very unsanitary,also tried getting me to go in the next day for follow up, how much improvement could there be on my infection in 24 hours? Seemed pretty shady all around. And I'm positive she didn't properly diagnose my eye problem, I made an appointment at another doctors office to hopefully receive proper treatment. read more

I recently had my eyes examined here, and while the examination was perfectly acceptable, the treatment I received was awful. From reception to doctor to sales associates, not a single person introduced themselves to me, which made everything feel grossly impersonal. Further, when I asked for my pupillary distance (PD) measurement so I could comparison shop for glasses, they first told me that it was against their policy to do so, and then I was told that giving me that measurement "is against the law." Total BS. I went back a few days later armed with a letter from the RI Board of Optometry stating that that information should be available to me, citing the Federal Trade Commission's statement that "patient is to have all measurements needed to fabricate a pair of glasses." I demanded to see the managing partner, and when he finally made himself available he tried to weasel and reason his way out of giving me my PD. It was only by citing HIPAA regulations that I was finally able to get what I'd asked for. Long story short? Impersonal attention backed by dishonesty and greed. I won't be back, and I recommend others steer clear as well. read more

I admittedly have few prior experiences with ophthalmologists, but the one with Westminster Eyecare tops them all in the best way possible. My entire visit was a joy, not excluding interactions with the front office staff. The secretaries, assistants, and, especially, Dr. Khalaf (the coolest medical professional I've ever had the privilege of being treated by) were attentive and kind. Dr. Khalaf was completely on my level and I never doubted being in good hands. I needed a follow-up visit wherein they could dilate my pupils, and it was counted in my walk-in, even though it was a couple of weeks later. I was a walk-in customer, the visit was quick, and I walked away with a prescription and a pair of eyeglasses ordered from the trendy, extensive (Vogue, Bebe, Calvin Klein, Vera Bradley, Guess, Ralph Lauren, etc.), and inexpensive gallery they have on-site. One of the people working in the gallery happily helped me try glasses on for more than a half hour. She was honest and helpful, and I found a perfect match. I am now a happy, first-time glasses-wearer and every time Westminster Eyecare patient. read more

This place won't give you a copy of the prescription for your glasses or contacts. I have been wearing glasses 15 years and contacts for 10 years. This sorry excuse for a business forced me to come back THREE times to get my eyes checked. The first time, I could not perform my eye exam because the doctor waited TOO long after dilating my eyes to check my power. $50 lost for a pointless visit where the staff screwed up. Then, after my third visit, my prescription was finally updated, but the staff would not give me a copy because they know that if they gave a prescription, I'll walk and I won't buy from their limited supply of glasses. Furthermore, they wanted me to make a FOURTH visit for $100 for "new Contacts customer" because "the staff haven't seen you wear contacts, so we need to make sure you know how to use them." The staff KNOWS that I am a student, I don't have insurance, and I've been wearing contacts for over a decade. This fourth visit was NOT necessary! The prescription was ready and signed, but the optometrist refused to give a copy of the prescription. After conning me out of $500, they wanted another $100 when they have seen me in contacts since my first visit! This place is full of bull and will try to suck you dry out of money. I couldn't have appreciated this place more. They took me in as a new patient that day. I was there for a total of 45 mins from the time I walked through the door to the time I walked out. Very small amount of wait time. The best part was that they clearly went the extra mile to figure out the best payment option through my insurance. The Optometry or ophthalmology was great, the best ever... But I had to pick my glasses unfortunately a girl name Kim was the one to took care of me, she was rude, unprofessional. I asked for the cat frame and she never helped me, she was pointed the guess and another designer frame but never ever showed me or helped me with my requested, I picked one and left that freaking place, I felt like crap and paid 312 dollars from my pocket. I was up in Rhode Island visiting a friend over two years ago, and after a brief discussion he had a concern that I wasn't receiving quality eye care in New Jersey and recommended I see a doctor at Westminster. The exam I had undergone was not only professional and thorough, but the office exceeded my expectations! They had EVERYTHING I needed or wanted under one roof. I was so pleased & felt so comfortable with my Dr. that I now being my daughter up with me (from NJ), once a year for her exams since she needs more attention. (She is a student & wears glasses). My family & I just had a week's vacation in RI, and after listening to me rave about my optometrist for the past two years my parents decided to go to the practice while they were up here! My parents have more issues than I can explain & were pleasantly surprised by how much better their care was at Westminster than at eye Drs in northern NJ. I read some other reviews & felt the need to respond. Like any popular or busy physicians office, a wait time for your visit could be longer than expected. I choose to make my appointments first thing in the morning to avoid some of the emergencies that arise for ALL doctors caring for patients. read more

This is going to be a long review and I hope it reaches the appropriate party as this has been a truly awful experience. I was first seen at this facility on 7/11/18. When I booked the appointment, I made it clear it was to place an order for contacts as I had run out (my previous Optometrist was out-of-network otherwise I would have just gone back there). My initial appointment was the first time I received poor customer service and misinformation. Prior to my eye exam, I told the Aid I was wearing contacts TWICE. After the exam, I said it a third time and with an attitude she responds, "You're wearing contacts?" and all but rolled her eyes saying now we had to do it again. Then she gets the Dr. and I bring up how this is an appointment for contacts, and she was confused and didn't know that that was the reason I was there. Only then (not over the phone when booking the appointment) was I told as a new patient I would have to pay $150 out of pocket for the contact fitting. It would have been better to inform me of that when booking so I could decide to move forward or not. I agreed because I needed the contacts and I was already taking time out of work for this appointment. She goes back to the reception area and checks my insurance only to come back and inform me that contacts are not covered, only glasses. I didn't think this was accurate but I assumed as this is their specialty, they knew what they were talking about. I didn't want glasses, but figured I might as well. The rest of the appointment went well, I picked out frames, and they placed the order. The next day I decide to call my insurance company, only to find out that I DID have coverage for contacts, and that it was one or the other (glasses or contacts). Since I had already ordered the glasses and since my insurance was due to expire by the end of the week, it would have been an extreme hassle to come up with any satisfactory resolution and switch from the already ordered glasses to contacts. When I called and spoke with the Office Manager (can't recall her name), there was again no real resolution except to "look into" why I was told contacts weren't covered, and offer the credit I paid out of pocket for the glasses to go towards contacts. I declined because again, the timing with my insurance running out and not being able to take more time off work was incredibly inconvenient. About a week later, when I go to pick up the glasses, I was annoyed at the process. I called in advance to let them know when I would be there, but upon arriving I still had to sit with the employee behind the desk for 20 minutes while she located them, wiped them off, etc all while chit chatting with her coworkers. I appreciate the attention to detail, but all this could have easily been done prior to my arrival and not been a waste of time. I tried them on for fit but not for the prescription, as I was running late and was wearing my contacts at the time and didn't have a case (one was not offered). When I get home and try the glasses on at night, I can immediately tell they are too strong. I tried to use the glasses for a couple of days, but could barely even utilize them because the prescription was noticeably off. I call in and schedule a follow up appointment to correct the prescription. The aid this time (different than the first, and considerably worse in terms of customer service) had me take the vision test first without the glasses and then with them. She asked how I knew they were strong and if I was getting headaches. I responded that I knew they were too strong because I tried using them and could just tell. After the exam, with an attitude, she says, "You can take off the glasses now, I wouldn't want you to get a headache." It took alot to bite my tongue at that point because she was the one who mentioned getting headaches, and I don't appreciate the comments, especially when I have to come back to fix a mistake on a prescription that was no fault of my own. The first saving grace was Dr. Hetinger who was very patient with me when testing different prescriptions. He is one of the only people I encountered there who was actually friendly. However, after placing the order for the corrected pair of glasses, I had such a terrible experience overall that I procrastinated going back to even pick them up when they came in and didn't go back for about 3 weeks. I just picked up the glasses last Wednesday 9/5/18. I called to explain I wanted to pick them up and not have to sit around again for 20 minutes as I would be in a rush. I spoke with Tatiana, who is the second saving grace, and by far the most helpful person I spoke with there. She understood and said it would be all set. When I arrived to pick up the glasses, thank God she was there as the other employee who first tried to assist me was not helpful. Long story short-the glasses still aren't right. Not sure if I want to go back at this point, but also paid for glasses I should be able to use. Insane. read more

I love this place I've been going here for almost 10 years. All the staff and Dr's are always very friendly, knowledgeable and make you feel appreciated as a customer/patient. They've gotten me in when I had an emergency two times, and when I needed a referral or prescription it got sent immediately. The place is always extremely well maintained, clean and organized, and they've got specialized equipment for testing and procedures. The only thing I would suggest is just that the scheduling needs to be better, as you'll always wait a bit. But it's still a 5 star experience. read more

This was a great place when I first started coming here a few years back, I would be seen by a doctor within 10 minutes and my glasses would arrive about 3 business days after being ordered. Things have changed as since then, now you have to wait a minimum of half an hour to be taken into a room, doctors are good at their jobs but the waiting time is absolutely ridiculous and glasses take 2 weeks to arrive now. I also needed an adjustment on my glasses and I was told I'd wait 20 minutes to have them fixed and I had to sit for an hour lol what kind of joke? I don't think I'll ever come back here after this visit, I'm extremely displeased at how inconvenient this place has become. read more

I arrived on time to my morning appointment and noticed the waiting room was full. So naturally I ask how long of a wait should I expect. Apparently no one had ever asked this question before because the dozen girls hanging around where totally mystified. So I tried to make it easy 5 minutes, 30 minutes, can you give me a clue. I finally asked to speak with the office manager and she informed me it would take about 10-15 minutes, got in fairly quick. Professional through eye exam but they dilated my pupils and had great difficulty driving home. Makes me think they where more concerned with earning fees than my safety. Brought through to a room to chose my glassed and pointed to a wall. Looked like 4-5 clerks sitting around chatting but too busy to offer assistance. Every pair of demo glasses I picked up where too dirty to see through. Low quality with overpriced options, unpleasant experience. Definitely rather self serve online and save 75%. Convenience would be the only reason to go back and for me it's not. Given time for reflection and after reading the companies response I must admit that my review was influence more by the slight at my arrival than the actual service provided. Westminster does provide a valuable service for an undeserved community and for that they should be commended. They do have a young assistant staff the management of which at times must be trying. Judging this office by comparing it to other national chains leads me to say you could do much worse. read more

I was given the wrong prescription glasses over the summer, they were only reading when I should have gotten progressives. So I was only using them for reading and they were not helping so my vision regressed fast. Came back three months later because I can barely see with this wrong prescription and they charge me fully for a new pair since my insurance "doesn't cover two pairs in a year". They said they would rush the order (3 days) since I can't see. Its been a week and they just told me its going to be another week since they messed up. I am in school and I cannot just take weeks off, but I cannot see. If they had just told me they wouldn't be able to complete my glasses in a reasonable time I would've just gone somewhere else.
