This place is awesome!! It's super old and the opposite of modern or fancy, but the kids wanted to go bowling and I didn't want to spend a fortune so I pulled up Groupon and found Westminster Lanes. We arrived at 1:00pm on a Sunday for our 2 hours of bowling. The entire place is cash only. Go to the ATM before you come here. We got a lane with bumpers, they can't go up and down so everybody has to have them or not. We played one game up for the little one then the rest with bumpers down. They have a diner like restaurant. They make a decent burger, fries, zucchini and chicken strips. We had a great time, but 2 hours of bowling is my limit. If I can get the Groupon again then we'll definitely be back! No frills but a good time! read more

My friends and I have been bowling here a few times a week for over a year! We loved the staff and the affordable prices. Now that there's new management, they raised the prices for everything. I love all the complaints about the pricing. It's pretty obvious some people here have no clue about owning a property/business in OC. Wanna bet why the old owner sold? My guess is, he wasn't making any $. Utilities, payroll, insurance, property taxes, food & beverage costs, equipment maintenance... Why bother owning a business if you're not making a profit? I get the consumer end of it all... Westminster was a steal in OC for bowling. They're just keeping up with the rest of what little competition is left out there (I LOVE Fountain Bowl...but go there and check their prices out, you'll either go back to Westminster or just quit bowling altogether...lol). Give it time. This new owner is no rookie here. He already has at least 5-6 other bowling centers that seem to be doing quite well, and believe me...these privately owned centers are always FAR better run, when in the right hands, than some corporate chain (I'm talking about you Bowlmor/AMF). Really disappointed with the service just received, came here to redeem a Groupon we had bought weeks ago, to be told that they recently had been bought by another company and they weren't accepting Groupon anymore, they had extended to allow users until sept 30 but were only informing customers who called or came in. Otherwise you were screwed and the woman at the counter wasn't willing to do anything, it's my brothers birthday and this totally butchered our plans for it. It unbelievable how inconsiderate people can be. It's not our fault we weren't informed about the Change in ownership, and they weren't accepting Groupon- we were never informed. I came here with some friends for a fun night of drinks and bowling. We were all terrible bowlers so we drank in order to improve our skill level. The drinks, food, and lanes were reasonably priced. The vibe was pretty chill. The location had nice a mix of amateur and novice bowlers, so no need to feel too bad about the gutter balls. My main complaint about the bowling alley was the lack of variety bowling ball sizes and weights. I spent most of the night searching for ball that wasn't +16 lbs.! Big Balls, Little Balls, they got all kinds of bowling balls (Get your mind out of the gutter). We usually come here with a Groupon, family of four, shoe rentals, 2 hours of bowling $20.50... Pretty solid deal. It is an older bowling alley, so a no thrills sort of affair. They have a bar (Bonus), and a great greasy food kitchen that has an awesome staff that will bring your order by so you don't have to wait for it. The gal at the counter is very helpful, and if you have littles she will provide you with the lighter balls for them to use. All in all this place isn't so bad, and for the price I certainly would not complain. So check out Groupon, and get you keesters down here for some old fashion fun. read more

Sunday, March 11, 2017 I had bought a Groupon to go here as a date night event. When we arrived in knew it wasn't going to be a pleasant experience. The parking lot was full of homeless stragglers, smoking grandpa's and unwelcoming bystanders. We were definitely odd men out. My boyfriend and I walked into the establishment and wasn't greeted a all. I approached the counter where the food was being served to ask where to redeem the Groupon but the worker abruptly walked away. We turned the corner to the next counter where I tried to talk to another worker. Again, was dismissed. Hm. Could it be a demographic problem? We did not feel welcome and each glare from an onlooker felt like a jagged dagger. We left at once. Upon telling Groupon about the experience they said the establishment would contact me. It's been a few weeks and no contact. All I wanted was a refund because I am making no effort to ever return nor would I suggest anyone I know to go there. *We are all humans and should be allowed to bowl equally. read more

Way overpriced- on the weekends it's $45 per hour. Yep I know... wayyyyy over priced. Plus when you pay by time you're rushing thru games and getting your shoes on and everything because the time starts right when you pay at the counter plus time for ball return everything. Absolute BS idk what happened to when bowling was fun and affordable. No fun rushing and overpaying here - will stick to my other lanes where I can pay by game, take my time and actually get practice for league. Lanes were nice, pins fall over easy. I understand you're running a business, but come on, can we at least get a game going here, for bowling sake. First off, the lane kept getting stuck, service call didn't even get any respond. At least when we got the lady at the counter, she came to help and showed us the trick to reset the pins with the little white magic button on the side. The bowling balls are the worst part. I am not a professional bowler for crying out loud, but how am I supposed to hit the pins if the ball is chipped all over? Kinda bumped when we came and found out that the special discount was not applied on New Year day, so we only paid for an hour. We were on the last frame with the last two bowlers when time up, but at least the lady at the counter let us finish the game, so thank you for that! read more

Just went bowling there for the first time in years. We are both 62 so we got a senior discount and paid only $2.50/game at 11am on a Monday. We both had our own shoes/balls. The lane was fine and everything worked well except the automatic scorer got it wrong once (we quickly were able to correct it ourselves though) Yes, the place is a bit outdated, but it didn't bother us. Impromptu trip to Westminster Lanes did not disappoint. Friendly front desk service, great food and drink options and an overall great experience. We got a stellar deal on Groupon for four people with shoes to bowl for $22! Can't beat that price anywhere. The lady at the front desk was old school but very friendly. We had a really nice time taking the kids bowling. The computer system was easy to navigate and the lanes were nice. We got a couple beers which were also affordably priced. It was easy to check in. Bought the deal from Groupon at a discounter price. It was originally $42 but went down to $22. They require that we go at the correct time written on the voucher which is morning time. The light bowling balls are behind the counter and not on the floor. You have to ask the front desk for those light balls. read more

WORST BOWLING EXPERIENCE EVER Customer service was very rude. They refused to honor our 2 hour groupon that stated it was valid Saturday's until 8:30. They only gave us 1 hour and there was no choices in bowling balls. There were only heavy balls left. I'm not a great bowler and was throwing the balls in the gutter constantly. So I went and asked if they can give us bumpers. She said no they are for kids only. I explained that I wasn't able to play without them. This place is a bit run-down, the staff is obviously unhappy with something in their lives and the equipment is not exactly up to date. Despite of all that, I love to freaking bowl on a budget. I went on a Friday and it was $11 from 9PM-1:30AM, then $4 for shoe rental. You can not beat that. A whole lane? for 4+ hours? That's ridiculously cheap. I went with a party of 6 friends and had a grand ol' time. And what made it a bit more fun were the "Money Shots"; you're given raffle tickets at the time of purchase, if they call your number, you pull a card that tells you to bowl a certain number of pins to get a cash prize. Pretty solid. A few complaints. There is barely any seating so chairs are scattered around. Cash only? Meh... I tried to order beer from the bar and the woman working behind was... not competent. I asked her for prices and she was ever so confused as if I did not speak da Engrish. Eh... I'm just impatient when it comes to getting my alcohol. But the staff does need to step it up when it comes to attitude and service. They play good music, the tv's work, the Cosmic Bowling is fun and the prices are superrrrrr. New owner has a greed for money and has basically doubled the price of bowling and drinks. It used to be $25 from 9pm-1am. We bowled from 9:30-11:30pm and the extra cost to bowl until closing was $30!! Until this place gets completely renovated there should be no reason to raise the prices like they did. They just got a new owner and it SUCKS! It used to be $25 from 9pm-1am Monday-Thursday. Now it's $25 for 2 hours and when u want to add another hour (1 hour not 2) later it's $25.75. Their cosmic bowling also went up too! $19 for 2 hours it used to be $12 from 9-close. Prices also went up at the bar as well and soon you will no longer be able to bring outside food or drinks. Came here for a few drunken nights of cosmic bowling. Their beers are pretty decently priced, ~$6 for a big cup. They also have a food area that serves some pretty good fries and other finger foods. Or maybe it's because I was drunk? Either way, good to munch on while bowling... but don't forget forks! Because ewww.. who wants to have bowling ball germs on your hands while eating food. It's $11/person without shoes. Shoes are $4 for a pair. Total is $15/person from 9pm-1:30am which I'd say is a steal! I like how they have light balls for us weak people, but I hate having to do the walk of shame and asking them for a light ball, as an adult, haha! I always wondered what this place was like since i live so near, but before when i passed it up it looks small and not as fun as other places. My boyfriend and I, our friend, his father and his step mother went together. At first, i thought the price went by games, but it didnt. It's twenty dollars a person unlimited games for 20.00 ! :) plus twenty dollars for five shoes. so the whole package was 100.00 for five people. _____________ we started off playing, getting warmed up.... gutter after gutter for me :( ahha, but its okay, this place also has over about 30 games to play in the arcade, and yummy dinner that serves classic dinner food. You order, they bring it to your lane, the customer service was great. The music was good too played a variety of it. metal, pop, hip hop , you request they will play. this place is a great place to go to with a group of friends.. I don't understand all the negative reviews. I used the $21 groupon on a saturday afternoon. The place is like any other older bowling alley. We bowled 5 games,had fun, got tired and quit, all for $21. How can you complain about that! Took my cousin from out of town for a Rock N Bowl night at the Westminster Lanes on Saturday. 10 pm - 2 am, $15 per person + $3.75 for shoe rental, and a maximum of four persons per lane. Not bad for a bowling marathon with raffling for CDs and gift cards and a DJ spinning throughout the evening! Or, you could do the cash lanes with four peeps which would run you $85 including shoe rental, but you get the opportunity to win cash prizes. Don't forget to bring socks as they do not provide them like they do at Fountain Bowl. I definitely thought the value was great and it was pretty poppin' with 99% of the lanes being occupied. The people running the joint were pretty accommodating when I requested to switch lanes due to noxious fumes emitting from our neighboring lane. Initially, when we requested the lane change, all the lanes were full so the first attendant basically said tough shit after I tried to politely state the reason for the necessary accommodation. "I'll send service down to check out the lane, but if it's body odor, we can't do anything about it." By about midnight when another lane freed up, I could no longer bear it and made a second attempt. Fortunately, it was a different attendant servicing the front desk! Me: Hi there, I was wondering if we could switch to lane number 22. Nice Lady #2: Where are you at? Me: Lane 24. Nice Lady #2: You want to switch from 24 to 22? Me: Yes, please. Nice Lady #2: Ok. Why? Me (motioned the nice lady #2 to come closer to me): Well, I don't mean to be rude, but there's an unbearable stench. Nice lady #2: Ok. We weren't the only ones that asked to be moved. Their neighbors requested a lane change shortly after another lane freed up, so I wasn't exaggerating... Overall, the place is clean, well-maintained, lively, and secure. We bowled the rest of the night away and closed shop. 3.30.08 Since this review was written so long ago, I called the venue to inquire about the pricing just to be up-to-date. Friday and Saturday nights are Rock N Bowl nights, from 9 pm - 1 am at $16 pp plus $4 shoe rental. Yes it's ghetto, but you'll get over it pretty fast. Their summer special is in full swing... $25 for a lane from 8pm-1am and a lane can hold up to 6 people. Shoe rentals are $4. Call ahead to find out the exact days the promo works (I was told the special was from 9-1 but luckily I showed up earlier and got in a few games before the rest of my party showed up). This bowling alley would be a lot better if they accepted credit card... it's like we got warped to a 70's alley. This bowling alley has an interesting feel to it. Whereas most places either feel visually and aurally overwhelming when they're full or pathetically sad when they're empty, this place always seems to feel like there's something going on even when the joint is empty. It might have to do with its odd layout or the fact that when I used to come here with my friend, who grew up in Westminster, she always used to seem to know people even though she didn't feel the need to say hello. So I don't know exactly what to make of it. I'd definitely like to come back, but I don't think it would be the same without my friend. I only come here on nights where it's a good deal. On Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 9pm - 1am, it costs $25 per lane. So if you got 5 people in a lane, it should roughly cost $5 per person (excluding shoes). Other than that, nothing else is special about this place. Just a simple bowling alley. It does get crowded sometimes so if you're planning to go in a big group, be sure to reserve a lane beforehand. The diner within the place has really good food. So if you're hungry while bowling, that's the place to go without having to drive somewhere else. read more

The front counter needs to work on customer service. Non-welcoming and unfriendly. We were a group of five, 3 adults and 2 kids. We we're only allowed one bowling ball for the group.
